  1. I never worked well in large teams (3-on-3 or more) while playing RTSs... I always get this urge to stab the others in the back and watch the resulting chaos. I'm much better off in 1-on-1 matchs. Even 2-on-2 I tend not to backstab if the other player decides to be helpful and not try to lone wolf his way through the game. Otherwise I leave him/her for dead. So if the skirmishes remain small, I really don't have a problem. I never could figure out why some of these games have a spectator mode. To me, RTSs are like baseball... Fun to play, boring to watch.
  2. I'm thinking either auto-sniper and 5.7/dual pistol(s) would do the trick, good combonation of damage and ammo. The .45 wouldn't be bad for a pistol either. Para is a tad to in-accurate for me, I could never use it effectively outside of short range combat. Even then I use shotties and SMGs more effectively.
  3. Ooooo!!! I love zombies!!! I'm going to try to hop on that IP tommorrow between classes. Most likely between 11 am to noon EST. Do headshots with the AWP and/or auto-snipers drop the zombies quick?
  4. I've given up on CS:S in favor for Battlefield 2. My aim sucks (can't lead a moving target very well), but at least in BF2 you can get points for doing things other than shooting. I jump on every once in awhile to harrass various regulars who come on a local sever, but I'm not very effective in combat anymore... People stared getting real good and I've gotten really out of practice over the summer from not playing at all. Anyone intrested, a local cyber-cafe place has a dedicated server that usually has great ping/latency. I.P. is 12.150.60.240. I know the people who run it personally and H@><0rs (AKA: hackers) are not tolerated and all sorts of counter-measures have been installed. If there is any admin abuse, its usually targets at me... I've been set on fire, kicked (as in my character was physically booted in the butt), drowned, have had various objects thrown/dropped on me and faced a regular who was given unlimited ammo for the M4, super speed, fly, and move through floors, walls, ceilings and such . All of this in the name of trying out new admin commands. If I'm on, look for Swiftlydead, swiftdraw, or swift. I'll probably be 6-22 and running around harrassing a couple of regular players with a TMP (ocassionally killing them.) Oh, and teamspeak is off due to numerous idiots abusing it. Sorry.
  5. I didn't like SWBF1 for a variety of reasons. Dumb AI (somewhat forgivable though), didn't like the way most of the weapons felt, and I never could pilot any of the flying craft effectively (which is odd to me, I'm good in the battlefield series.) I'm holding off on SWBF2 untill I'm sure its a better game than the first. By this I don't mean by throwing in a ton of new stuff and updating the graphics, I want better AI, weapons, vehicles, and map layouts.
  6. But isn't travel restricted to trade lanes? So it maybe a good idea to free up the troops from a planet that is only acessable through one or two garrisoned planets. I don't know how well a resistance system would work in a RTS since you usually command everything your troops do. I suppose if you went to the galatic map a planet could under go a assimilation time where that sort of thing could happen.
  7. I'm having this same debate... Un-fortantly for me the situatuion is a bit political. My parents bought me a store-bought computer (read: mediocre at best) for college instead of getting one of their own, so I can't see them being to happy with me if I bought another one a year later. I would give my congrats, but the last two people I said that to for getting married ended up getting a divorce (I'm not kidding either) so I'll hold off.
  8. Thats why I said they were entering the atmosphere, they weren't quite there yet. Maybe I should have just said going to the planet.
  9. I thought it was shown clearly earlier on that you could intercept troop transports entering the atmosphere. Actually, I think gamespot and some magazine had articles that featured this. It was shown that the Imperials destroyed the rebel space force over that planet and were sending down troops for a planet invasion, then the rebs sent up some ground based X-wings and took out 2 of the transports and a couple of the defending TIES.
  10. Porx. mines are just evil on some levels. The caves probably being the worst due to the fact there were some lightless areas were you couldn't see the mines. My favorite gun over all would probably be the Russian automatic pistol, exspecaily when you got two of them. Also the assault auto-shotty was fun. I didn't like dual rocket or gernade launchers that much because they block your view on either side and were usless up close. You could kill the person but you'd end up killing yourself also.
  11. I thought the Phantom was an assault rifle... Hum... Klobbs are useful... If your dual-wielding them and using them point blank against an un-armored target.... RCP-90s on the other hand... One was evil enough, dual-wielding it was just wrong.
  12. The first level with the dam and mission where you have to blow up the missle silos. The mission where you have to brake into the bunker the second time is fun too.
  13. Hmmm... Well if there was a asteriod belt locally, I'd have the cap ships lock onto the most massive (not nessicarly the biggest though) with their tractor beams, speed up, and hurl them at the opposing force. Id' have the fighter screen in close behind that, using the asteriods as shields of sorts. That would help lower casualties a bit and if you can get "dark" asteriods (I believe these were used to block in the capital city planet. Can't spell the bloody name, starts with a "C"), the ships can't always detect them in time and take a good knock or two. Even better, the ships may not be able to detect the fighters close behind the asteriods either, allowing them to get in those important first strikes realatively in-tact. THough I highly doubt you could do this in game.
  14. Where did you get that tid-bit of info? I haven't seen it before. As for the traitor option... Why? You had a choice at the beginning of the game, if you want to play as the other side simply start a new game. I'd probably use it only if I got to take a good section of my forces with me, and then its just because I want Imperial cap ships with rebel fighters. Also the idea of rebel AT-ATs makes me chuckle. I might do that once or twice for kicks and giggles, but after the novelty wore off not much of a point. Also a traitor option would be extremely annoying in multiplayer games.
  15. Not with Russian oil claims there. Generals 2... Hmmmm... If EA can create a Battle for Middle Earth II, I've no doubt they can make a Generals 2. Whether EA will or not is kinda hard to tell. Generals did fairly well but the RTS genre isn't a big money maker without some big name tie in (like Tolkiens middle earth.) C&C is a big name but many of the long time fans really didn't see it as a part of the C&C series so they might not go for a second one. I've got a feeling the C&C sereis is now like Starcraft, there is a demand for another one but it will be a long, long, long while before we get it, if ever.
  16. First two never intrested me, I don't a third will either. Nothing against the games, but I'm not to much into RPGs or Jedi.
  17. BOTF? What is that stand for?
  18. Maybe he is just can't relate his opinion outside of simple phrases like that.
  19. Doubtful. Anything internal will have to be a military coupe to be succesful, and that doesn't look likely. Another Tiananmen Square may happen, but the govt. will move in and crush it, the world will protest and proceed to forget about it in a few years lifting any sanactions imposed on China. Only real military stand-off I could see happening is with the USA if China gets impatient with Tiawan and decides to take it back forcefully. Economiclly, China's introduction of major elements of a free market system have really helped get it to where it is today. Some say China's under-valued currency will crash china's market, but I can't see an large crash happening. Unless the US economy totally tanks and we revert an economy reminscent of the 1930's, China's exports will basiclly keep it from going to broke. The only land grab I could foresee China trying is for Tiawan because of the historical claims China has on it. Anything else would look imperialist and have most of the world against them. Nothing like a war, more like embargos and sanctions, but even then those would be lifted after a few years because of China's trade value. Also China probably won't surpass the USA as a world power for a few more decades, barring any major upheaval socially, militarly, or naturally in either camp.
  20. X-box: Street Fighter Anniversy Edition Jade Empire Crimson Skies Mech Assault 1&2 Burnout 3 and doubles as my DVD player PS2: Guilty Grear XX Ring of Red the Jak and Daxter series Grand Turismo 3 A-spec Bloody Roar 4 Jurrasic Park: Operation Genisis Gladius Sly Cooper 1&2 Gamecube (recently aquired) Super Smash Bros.: Melee Soul Caliber II I'm not much of a console gamer, controls are a bit un-intuitive to me.
  21. Oooooooo.... Pretty.....
  22. I usually use the Russians, mostly because their a good defensive team. I usually hang back and try to get nuclear ICBMs as quickly as possible and hold the other players to nuclear blackmail. Un-fortantly this doesn't work against the AI, which led to some of my worst moments in RoN. I've 15 or so nukes, some country attacks me and are about to crush me, I sue for peace (or else!!!), and the computer ignores me completly and I let fly all the nukes ending the world and the game. Technically, I didn't lose if no one else won.
  23. For a sequel, I'd like it to be what Supreme Commander is suppose to be. You do more strategicly than taticly, though you can step in and take over individual battles if you want. Also I want 1:1 scaling like in SupCom, where you can see the details on a individual TIE then zoom out to see the squadron its in, then out even further to see entire SSD its flying around (and now the TIE squadron is an icon), go even further to see the entire fleet, then out further for the planet system, and so on and so forth. Also I would like the space ships and areo-fighters to work like the ships in Homeworld, working in three diminsions. Though with the speeders and areo-fighters you could probably just set an altitude like tree top level, mid-level, high-level. Then have a ton of planets and units. I personally would like to see the game stretch from the end of Ep.III and remain open ended. So things like the Vong invasion can happen almost randomly, except the AI will be smart enough to know when the time is right. For an exspansion... Just the regular new units and technology would keep me happy. Maybe a new gameplay aspect too, like the govt. thing in RoN: Thrones and Patriots.
  24. That was C&C Generals... Though America went all isoslationist at the end and China ended up be the top super power.
  25. Yeah, play some Splinter Cell or Metal Gear before you go... If what my (and any other USA resident's) politicains say are true, video games are very realistic simulators and are very good at training people in doing such stealthy things.
