  1. Well Lego has sure as hell come along way since my childhood! I'm not entirely sure I can take any of it seriously though with those happy Lego smily-faces. One little point of interest you might like to know, however, is that the guy who invented Lego was a pacifist, and up until Lego got the Star Wars franchise, never released anything military in nature. He must of died and his estate saw commercial sense.
  2. A worthy post. We must never forget the horrors of what happened there, ever. Future generations must always be informed of the darkness that can swiftly descend upon societies when the flame of democracy and free speech are distinguished under the thumb of tyrants. What was ironic about the Soviet liberation was that the Stalin and his fascists dwarfed Hitler in the amount of human beings he exterminated. I agree with you though, apparently 25% of British school children don't know what happened there. And as far as holocausts go, they probably don't even know where Cambodia is.
  3. Of course! Or simply do as Trej said.
  4. Your avatar at presant has this url link: http://www.swrebellion.com/modules/Forums/images/avatars/http://www.3dactionplanet.com/halo/images/characters/343.gif Try changing it to this: http://www.3dactionplanet.com/halo/images/characters/343.gif Which in turn should generate this: http://www.3dactionplanet.com/halo/images/characters/343.gif Which I think is quite pleasant, in a sort of wierd way....
  5. Perhaps the larger Star Wars community might need to be reminded Galactic Conquest is still very much alive... I'm up for reminding the world this site still exists, and Rebellion still rules the roost in so far as it's unique angle on the Star Wars genre... a banner or two
  6. God Looks more like the burning eye of Sauron! Hadn't seen that!
  7. First of, it's best to have your own web space so you can host your avatar and signiture yourself. This ensures content safty (there are some right fiends out there...) and full control. One easy option is to set up an msn newsgroup, it's free, easy, and you get about 30 megs of hosting space. I believe Trej added a tutorial to the FAQ on this site I posted a few years back. If you can't find it and do it yourself, remember to ensure it is PUBLIC! Otherwise no one will be able to see your links! If this defeats you, simply join my newsgroup. I actually pay for it, so it's utterly secure. Just create your own album and you have hosting space. Quite a few familiar faces around here have done so. Free and easy! PM me if your interested. The rest is simple url linking. But remember not to go over board with file sizes; keep your avatar to the rules of this site, and be considerate as to what you use for your signiture. There are still some of us in the stone ages as far as internet connection goes... Give me a shout if you need a hand/help/advise, etc.
  8. Just a quicky, but does anyone know of an idiot proof program to reduce the huge file sizes Trej's find creates?
  9. I read today that they are thinking of not continuing to service the Hubble telescope due to the high costs involved. I have grown quite used to looking at the images like this one before I go to bed. I tried to read more http://hubble.nasa.gov/news/latest.php but couldn't find anything which is a little odd.
  10. It was a fun movie, even if it was kind of akward with the Arab tagging along. Now that's a great movie. After all the troubles I had try to find it and downloa... watch it, I found it highly entertaining. A intelligent, fun and entertaining movie. Quite frankly, the Seven Samurai is beyond doubt one of the finest movies ever made. Kurosawa not only proves he is a genius story teller, but that his action sequences are about the finest in movie history. Personally, I find the currant new-wave of martial arts movies comming out of China/Hong Kong, wrapped up in a cloak of interlectual respctability, dull and boring, given the violence is cartoonish and childish. Kurosawa's action brilliantly combines the limits of humanity's heroism with believability. The genius of his three hour epic is that for most of the film he concentrates simply on character development, which to the western viewer is spell binding in it's detail and revelation: Samurai #1: 'So how did you escape?' Samurai #2: 'I hid in the ditch.' Blew away a few misconceptions of feudal Japan... There is another movie of his where there is an action sequence so brilliant in it's purity, human nature reverts to instict to rewind the sequence, which is the film's ultimate build up, and lasts only a second or two. Yojimbo, the bodyguard, is seen to behold for the sequence alone. I must confess to finding films making mockery of violence boring and dull. The Seven Samurai is a classic example of a film that does not.
  11. Obi Wun Kanobi. Either version. I open my curtains in the morning and say things like, 'I will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villeny!' and 'That's no moon,' as the tube comes into the station, making other commuters look startled.
  12. Gosh, this seems to have been ressurected from the bowels of swrebellion's past... but a very pleasnant surprise was The 13th Warrior. It's sort of the Seven Samurai but with the Vikings, and an Arab.
  13. Greetings dude!
  14. Fascinating stuff M78! Just think, in about six million years we will be able to send envoys on behalf of humanity and greet some form of primordial semi-sentient plasma! Yay! Only kidding!
  15. Emm... I might not have made myself that clear. I have 906 available construction points to build stuff with. What's the long term differance in building target a with a 116/64 cost or target B with a 12/29 cost. The latter is what i've never been able to grasp. Simply, what effect to the game does higher maintenance than construction have?
  16. One thing i've never really got to grips with is the materials/maintenance capacity of units. I would appreciate someone outlining a definitive explaination; and I suspect not just for me... Ok, you've got a currant pool of say 906 points to build with, and want to build a Star Destroyer, 112. What effect does the 64 (or what ever it is maintenance cost) have? I can't seem to grasp this. Does it in some way have some effect in that if I concentrated all my resources on building units with a higher maintenance cost than construction (like Lancers, Assault transports, etc...) my Empire would unravel? Help.
  17. There used to be some text here about finding water on Titan but I deleated it. Edit numero dos: This was because I was listening to the radio whilst inserting bits of tree into a shreader and didn't hear the news correctly.
  18. I didn't do this one; I found it lurking in the darkest corners of the internet....
  19. That may be cannon. But our Imperium has more sinister weapons: http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RAATAwcVMOFEadBx*hosNX83mZYFBDs4MdpHXDmqXgh18BSJKhEwzq2E0R4pu70lNVIp6KaUM*40cRGzc8nWm5aFwQKGjXsoKdqUx0GQzgg/parkwars.gif
  20. The Dark Empire comic book series consisted of two volumes plus an utterly desperate and thus dreadful very thin conclusion, entitled 'Empire's End.' Whilst the artwork was by and large masterful by Cam Kennady in the first two volumes, DEI & DEII; respect by any serious SW fan crumbled with the haste of the very thin conclusion. I grew up up with Cam Kannedy's art work essentially in a British comic called 2000AD, where all sorts of characters emerged; Judge Dread not least. Whilst overjoyed to see his talents in a Star Wars comic, I have been horrified by how his artistic panels have been siezed upon by unthinking fanatics eager to catergerize each and everything he drew slightly wrong, with respect to what people quote as with grand authority amongst our SW community. I doubt he gives a flying **watermelon** what an Eclipse SSD really looks like any more than the pint in his hand when he's finnished his days work over the drawing board. He gets paid. We all argue about what's 'cannon' or not.
  21. I think the original post was bloody cool Since 1999, it has never really occured to me to see some tactical point to hang on or resolve the lack of support on those 'maintained order' systems; by and large, but your outlined strategy is brilliant. I shall be giving it a go...

One possible solution, if you rate Lando for example is to replace one of the rebels four main characters, and thus have the freedom of replacing the available lines. Quite frankly, Luke is a bit a over rated. It would be interesting to see how Lando gets on with Yoda, and Vader. 'That was never part of the deal!' 'Perhaps you feel you are being treated unfairly!' ..or more fundermentally... 'I am your father! Search your feelings! You know it to be true!' No your not, i'm black! 'How do you know what dwells beneath all this armour?' 'Err... good point, James Earl Jones at least ain't white!' 'Join me my son!' etc...
  23. Just a quicky, but if you've got access to the Private forums, please have a quick look at the top thread and see if you can give me a hand! For I ez stuck with these the last six.
  24. This is sounding positive and good. I am however now deeply cynical of online commitment; people promise they will do this and that, and end up doing sod all. Sooo, whilst I do not doubt the sincerity and faith in these early stages of this, i'm going to sit back and see how things pan out for a while. But good luck!
  25. This made me chuckle... ...as did this...* *Status Quo
