From whence you owe this strange intelligence? An Irish barmaid told me in a pub in Dublin.

What if the Roman's had the internet? http://www.b3tards.com/uploads/spartacus.jpg

I felt that earlier as well, but my hand was attached to a chainsaw and my arm was shaking violently as one of neighbour's hedges vannished into fauna-oblivion... Well since i've been lurking around here i've simply not seen anywhere near that many online visitors, hence my observation. But as I said, maybe online robots, according to one answer I got... Welcome btw! Always good to see fresh faces. Have fun!

Well it's now been two weeks and no sign. I am extremely peed off!! Any other person I brought it from would have sent it by now.....woe is me. I'm fairly confident you can cancel your credit card transaction at this stage, can't you? I've not used Ebay just for the potential of what your experiencing but seem to recall my account's manager telling me this following an ear-full from an angry Deutche-Bank employee I billed twice by accident...

No photoshoping there my friend, I was amazed as you... Perhaps an extesive incursion by Imperial Probe droids? Could Vader suspect this site of being Hoth? I'll let the more learned with this online stuff explain this...

English, please, J? Should have wrapped that in Freudian-accent mode...but forgot... sorry Tofu dude! I'm fluent in gibberish, not German.

I remember mentioning this last year. So let us devulge in some history (briefly): Ireland at the time was pagan, comprised of lots of tribes, one of whome were the Gaels, a very warlike people who would invade the western coast of England and Wales, plunder, pillage and enslave people. One such 'victim' was St Patrick, who is credited with ending up converting this pagan Ireland to the Church. So I guess that's why he's their patron saint!

I think you might have to go down this route dude *cough*, whilst I did the scan today, and set it to myself on my hotmail account, I forgot I did this from superfast broadband at the Zoological society, overlooking the fact the resulting .pdf file was 2 megs, so I can't do much now, given i'm now not on broadband. Also, besides copying and pasting as text here if I could be patient enough the half hour download retrieving it from said hotmail account, it would be a little large on the bandwidth front for a single post, and E would have every right to slap me around the ear. So buy the magazine for the article dudes, it's only last month's copy, and should be in every uni's library... No clue dude! It is rather old, published in the mid-eighties, and whilst most of the physics does seem to stand, you'ld be better off reading something much newer with much fresher thinking. I would recomend Bill Bryson's 'A short history of nearly everything.'

St Patrick, despite being Welsh, is the patron saint of Ireland, and as such is celebrated in North America so visibly on account of the large amount of people of Irish descent, as DarthTex pointed out. As he also pointed out, it's a good excise to have a 'crack*,' as the Irish would say. *Not the drug crack, but a party btw :

This poll is based on a question that is to vague. What is stupidity? What is intelligence? Genetically we are related to apes, none of whome have penned the equivelent of Orthelo or Ulysses, invented IPods, or used a twig in a more skillful way than bashing something else they come across on the canopy floor. And whilst all the IT department personnel I have had the extreme displeasure of working with may demonstrated capable skills deploying intelligence with computer equipment, in all their levels of arrogance and contempt of non-degree level understanding of said area of expertise lends weight to their stupidity.* So which possesses intelligence or stupidity? Man or ape? *May of had bad experiance with IT arrogance in the distant past, but try running an office with a sales person who can't view a .jpg because IE isn't installed on their PC, and approaching IT department to question this...to a barrage of IT arrogance in response.

Don't understand your point DF!

Not a particularly learned work, but an entertaining read. The Science in Science Fiction published by book club associates by arrangement of Michael Joseph Limited, 1983. It basically trawls through the works of science fiction examining the hard physics behind everything more or less tackled by the genre; but not in a snobbish that's all completely impossible type of way, but more an eye-opening basic outlining of the physics behind popular things encountered in science fiction. I recall something written far more rescently mentioning the subject, but that would be a lengthy rumage through my book case.... My thoughts entirely... I guess he's quite a learned chap, so he's quite likely to have his own web site or a site where he posts his scientific findings! I can scan the three-page article tomorrow at the zoo if you want Scathe!

A year or two ago I remember a couple of scientists announcing they had achieved a fusion cycle; but apparently short of community proof. To bad! But it will happen, because the physics are in place. The challenge is to achieve it! And yay when it's done!

Get your paws on the issue of the New Scientist I was on about Tofu dude; we're talking in numerous-and a mean numerous-dimensions here... apparently... Whilst I must confess to struggle sometimes to keep up with the science involved in all this stuff, I am utterly fascinated by theories like this.

That's so strange it should of come with an optical health warning, Scathe!

Cool links Scathe! I vaguely remember seeing something about this last night when I got back from the pub, but my brain was a bit borked. I'm ever the optimist when it comes to humanity. Sure we've done a good job of trashing great swathes of this beautiful moss-covered rock we're on, but there's masses we haven't trashed yet, and as science involves, cleaner means of power will gradually ascend. As for warfare, well there's gradually less and less of it if you look at history in the long term.So I would like to think our chances are quite good.

They are fascinating to try and comprehend. The current science-book floating round my bed discusses the possibility of black holes no bigger than an atom, but it would require pressures only in the few first moments of the big-bang to create them. There was a fascinating article in the New Scientist 11th Feb that discusses the possibility of life within blackholes. Enter the Void by Paul Wesson. I tried to find an open link, but I think you have to pay for it. Well worth checking out.

Not really, it's not sexually-orientated, but it does come out of your arse... But figure, do you want forums where we have no restraint on language? This is the bottom line. If you think it's cool to use bad language as a post perhaps you might want to examine what exactly you are posting. I'm logged onto numerous sites where such language is fun and exeptable but I don't like seeing it around here. This is a Star Wars site, primarily for SWRebellion, as a game. A brake down in standards in language rapidly gets out out of hand, and everything else suffers as a consequence. -
Speaking of reason, to divert this spam-friendly thread from getting out of hand completely; speaking of suns, but check this out: http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/060308_black_hole.html EDIT: I guess this clever little animal call humaniti is figuring things out besides blasting each other to bits.

Padded Room (Carried over from Cruel and Unusual...)

The bottom line is that it's forum etiquette (I believe I mentioned that earlier), if you write f*** we all know what you're really saying, so you might as well say it. But don't, because the standards on this site have been set for the right reasons, and I for one come here to escape real-life and soak up some Star Wars stuff. I don't want to to read a load of badly phrased posts deploying things like f*** or c***. Plus there are younger members around whose folks might not be happy if they knew what unmoderated language they were being exposed to on an 'innocent Star Wars' site. It's boring anyway. -
Well actually it was. It entered my head at random after reading your new topic...
