  1. Damn! Right, well that's it. I'm off to find a tidlewinks-game forum. So long.
  2. ..yes...go on...forgive me for being, how shall I put it elegantly..thick, but what will this save-game editor enable cretins like me do to our beloved game? Please hurry! I can hardle type with the excitment, my fingers are trembling; saliva is coating my keys, my mouse is now floating on a gooy film of moisture, I can hardly see my screen through bits of spit slowy oozing downwards, my eyes clouding up as swett cascades down my forehead...I need to know MORE!
  3. ....please elaberate sir! I'm beginning to drool.....
  4. Yeah, I knew that....I was more concerned with the asteroid image on the galaxy map and an asteroid image during tactical battles...and getting the programe to this as opposed to doing it manualy! Though I wouldn't mind knowing how to do it all manualy....
  5. Can the starfield in the tactical game be replaced? The stars are...a little boring and one dimensional. Anybody got any idea? I'm NOT thinking of anything as dramatic as for example Homeworld's backdrop, but perhaps the odd dash of nebula here, a few coloured suns there, perhaps a swirl of galaxy there.... I think it would add a subtle touch of ambiance to the tactical game.
  6. Given no one can apparently understand the language natural disasters are writan in the game, meaning we're stuck with them, i've had an idea with a way we can live with them a bit more creatively. When a planet suffers a natural disaster, the picture could be changed to that of an asteroid-field (dramatic I know!), indicating the loss of resources to exploit; or even total apocolypse and destruction where nothing remains.....he he Can this be done? Does anyone know how to do it? Does anyone actually care? Who thinks I should get on with my job?
  7. ...emmmm........emmmm.....good grief, it would seem in all the long years i've been playing Rebellion I don't think i've ever had a battle at a destroyed planet. Now i'm real curious..... if there is an asteroid field, there's a DLL somewhere; if so, there's an image to exploit....
  8. ...just a quicky....is it possible to increase the capacity of starship models in the game? With all the new models i'm beginning to run out of ships to replace. If it is possible, will it have any effect on game speed? I can forsee RebEd having to be tweeked a little....
  9. Indeed....given Star Wars was influenced by old-Samurai flicks like 'Hidden Fortress,' by Kurosawa (and George has actually stated this), where the antagonists are 'on the run,' giving the rebels something to fear from the Empire (ie: possible assassination...) would remain true to the original game. On the run, got to keep moving....just like Hoth. Oh, do check out Hidden Fortress...it's a masterpiece, by the same director of the Seven Samurai and Yojimbo.
  10. Say, all this has given me a thought....would we be able to use some of the victory/defeat movie footage for other events in the game, assuming we can have movies to replace some static DLLs in the game. With a bit of editing (ie: cutting out the bits of C3-PO saying 'we're doomed!' but keeping all the other footage of destruction, for, say, the destruction of a rebel fleet, or the last bit with the two Star Destroyers jumping into hyperspace for an Imperial fleet jumping into hyperspace....? It would certainly liven up the game. I of course wouldn't have a clue how to do it.
  11. 'Ho ho ho!' -Father Christmas. 'That's all you ever bloody say!' (His wife) ...whatever, blaugh blaugh, but are WE* able to do this! *someone 'amongst us' able to do this!!! Kinda...Biblical....
  12. Dude, you're chasing a dead duck...the footage/event doesn't exist...i've been playing this dam game since about late 98' (twas the first game I installed, on the first PC I got, roughly about the time I moved in with 'her' in Archway, North London). You may ask yourself why? Good point. I'm not entirelly sure myself....on either subject...
  13. ..thats the footage of the rebel-alliance victory where the rebel fleet shows up and 'dismantles' the SSD (curious how it seems to fall apart...not explode!). Wierdly enough I think the best footage in the game is if you loose, either as rebel or Imperial! I downloaded both endings once so you can see the footage, but i've forgotten where from... (though I still have both zip files on my hard drive...if anybody's curious... ) Talking of footage, would it not be safe to say the opening of galactic battlegrounds kicks arse!!! It sure beats that Star Treck Voyager immitation crap at the beginning of Rebellion-
  14. Sorry guys, I thought you were talking about your lunch.
  15. Yea, I think our conclusion is that we sometimes have to remind ourselves it's a fairy-tale at the end of the day (be it a dam good one!), and analyzing the technical data is a slightly misleading path.... The one good analysis the technical commentries at theforce.net did was the effect of the second death star's explosion over Endor (complete obliteration of the forest moon & the extermination of the ewoks as a species....). How exactly do you build a battle station the size of a small moon without screwing up the gravity on the planet you're building it over.....and every planet you subsequently visit? Given space is full of bits of rock whirling around, what's the effect of all this bombardment on the Death Star's hull, or even capital ships like Star Destroyers? It is my sad conclusion to report that George Lucas MADE IT ALL UP! I'm as devestated as you are. I secretly hoped Tarkin was going to suddenly turn up and reveal the presance of the rebel base in Guatemala....I was so hoping to meet Leia. My dreams dashed- It's snowing. Wimper...sniff...
  16. Oh yes! I like cheese and tomato sandwiches as well, especially with granery bread and a slice of cucumber! Yum yum!
  17. Cost? We talking construction points? But can it be done?
  18. Ok, this is my problem. I've accidently got used to playing rebellion games with half-stats on everything in a large galaxy, with virtually every outer-rim sector colonized and on high-importance; so you don't have half the outer rim with three construction options and one system-energy resource. I like the way the galactic empire doesn't start with only two Star Destroyers... and as the game develops you find yourself having the capacity to have a real spread of fleets comprised of capital ships other than Lancers and Carracks. However, i've noticed the computer can't really handle the diplomacy aspect of the size of everything. For example, my last game playing as the Empire on hard, the rebellion didn't win over a new system anywhere in the inner- or outer-rim for about four-hundred days, while I was well under wy with my diplomatic-offensive; having 'soothed' those systems under military control. I realized I wasn't going to get a proper game with these settings. The rebel HQ always tends to be next to Yavin as well. Anyway, it's a nice element to have the Outer-Rim unknown, adds that element of dicovery... However, upon reverting back to the original galaxy set up i'm stumbling on system after system with nothing to really exploit, and i'm struggling to get used to it again. So as I lay staring at my bedrrom ceiling last night, I began to wonder whether there is a way to somehow set a minimum value to a sytems energy and construction capacity; to perhaps the values of the Inner-Rim systems. I wonder if anyone knows if this is possible? On the otherhand, perhaps editing the output of mine/refinery to say 100 (or 200...). Surely if we can edit the cards, we must be able to edit the systems, or mine/refinery output. Wha! What a ramble! No more tea for me this morning....
  19. ..I take it Tristar you've got your teeth firmly into that little envelope from London, Outer Mongolia? We shall say NO more.... ...but enjoy!
  20. Lucarts provide the product, we the consumer get hooked, the dealer moves town....we end up trying to smoke the front lawn.......
  21. Tk421...you're figure is from the force.net tech commentry on Death Stars, which is'nt varified. I think a figure of thirty odd million personnel on one battle station is a little unrealistic....think of the logistics involved! How do a million crew members take shore-leave for god's sake. The Death Star would be the most popular damn economy-boost in the galaxy. Think of it like this: Hapless aide: 'President Rumblebum! The Death Star has just entered our system!' President Rumblebum: 'God damn it! I suppose they'll be wanting supplies for 31 million men.' Hapless aide: 'Yes sir, they do. But the good new is that they're staying for two weeks, and 31 miilion men will be wanting shore-leave....AND THEY'VE JUST BEEN PAID!!!' President: 'Excellent! All things considered, that's just paid off our system's national debt, and for the next decade!' Meanwhile, on board the Death Star: Commander Jahled: 'Emmm....well, well Darth Vaper, it seems this fully operational battle station is doing more for the Empire's popularity than old Emperor throat-cancer has achieved with his Stormtroopers! Our communications centre are being flooded by requests for us to visit their systems to offer our 31 million crew their hospitality! When exactly is the next pay day?' Darth Vaper: 'The allure of a holiday resort is insignificant to the power of the force!' ...etc, yawn....burp.
  22. Be kinda hard to find a crew wouldn't you think?
  23. Forgive me if i'm re-hashing an old topic, but does anyone know if there's a way to crate a simple unit rank structure in the game, such as Red Alert's normal/veteran/elite-ranks. This could apply to all units; troops, figthters and the crews of capital ships, increasing their combat effectiveness/stats the more they are used in the game. Just an idea as I spill my Thai-lunch over my keyboard.....heck, i've got a noodle stuck under my return key....
  24. Interesting idea, being able to hire Legendry Bounty Hunters. It would, however, rather defeat the point of your own special forces, wouldn't you think? Being able to exert some degree of control on them in the game would add a nice touch to the game, though, with all those hidden cut-scenes Resource hacker lets us know of there in the game, but few of us ever get a chance to see (> Boba Fett delivering Solo, and even Luke to Vader, with lines like:'together again, eh!'). I wonder if anybody knows how to tweek the success-probability of the Legendry Bounty Hunters attempts on Solo to make their chances higher? That would keep the rebels on there toes!
  25. Nah...I rather like the idea of the 'Sputnik' class Star Destroyer. You could give it a really high bombardment rating when it's orbit decays and it crashes into the planet. And you must of heard of the elite Soviet special Forces unit, the Bolshevik-ballet....
