  1. God damn it! $28 I can swallow for the subscribtion, £46 for international shipping I can't! I'm off to the basement to cry for a while...
  2. Rah! Dungeon & Dragon magazines! That takes me back a few years (decades...gulp). Anyway, so if I sign up to Bantha Tracks I get a piece of credit card plastic that confirms i'm a Jedi? The next time I get pulled over I can whip out my wallet and go: 'It's ok officer, this is Jedi business.' Hapless, dimwitted officer: 'Move along.'
  3. Which sort of prevokes some ideas for Rebellion 2; similar missions for our Imperial duo. Perhaps Darth Vader can go off plagued by guilt...before arriving back, his commitment to the Empire more resolute than ever, or Palpatine on a visit to some Sith site to do what ever Sith do at Sith-sites (and i'm not on about a web-site), perhaps returning with a Jedi-Holocron...making him more powerful....mumble mumble
  4. As a commited Star Wars Nerd I DEMAND YOU TELL ME WHERE I CAN GET ONE...
  5. Dude, my link two above you works fine...
  6. Oh well..such is life...
  7. No luck with the picture, I guess that's going to be quite important. Perhaps one of the artists among us could help out on that one.

See you guys at the Oscars.
  9. Ok Paul, me and the lads will have a whip round for you-
  10. Mask, hows your Allegiance comming along?
  11. No. Where can you get them? Though I think having X-wings and Star Destroyers on our home computers could possibly prevoke comments from our other halves like: 'This hobby of yours is turning into an obsession!' (Door slams, sound of car engine, tires screeching...dog barking in the distance..)
  12. ..bare in mind, Mask, I only know that because of trawling through the files using Resource Hacker...I saved the pictures to my desk top in Word Pad, perhaps we should have an ingame image gallery on the site...
  13. Yeah, the ol' Tattooine to Kessel run in a gallowfree usually keeps them out of the game for a while...
  14. Leia captured as well...your possibly going to see one of the games's rarest occurances...Han & chums being delivered by Boba Fett to Darth Vader! Enjoy! The chances are you'll not see it again.
  15. Have you downloaded resource hacker?

10/10 for character observation, 'Jahled' was my second choice, 'Beer_Consuming_Fool' arrived just before I did... To quote one of the Irish-bards: 'I drink to make other people interesting...'
  17. ...(sigh..), I guess it's all down hill from here 'Untimely,' let me know which retirement home you've 'booked yourself into,' and we can grow old together pretending we're Jedi's with our walking sticks...
  18. We were discussing this not so long ago in Gaming Stories under the topic 'Getting the AI to play as the Empire well,' which sort of addressed the problem of the game's AI basically not exactly being a devious fiend. I can see exactly where your comming from. As the Alliance, the AI tends to mass the rebel fleet and a fair amount of characters in the Sesswenna..or what ever it's called..sector at the start of the game. One very simple way of giving the rebels lots of support is to try the following options: 1. The Empire starts the game with two or three systems under military occupation. Simply pull out you troops there. Most of the sector will subsequently throw their lot in with the rebellion. If you lok at popular opinion for the majority of neutral systems in the Core their support leans just that bit to the Alliance. 2.Behave like a complete and utter Imperial fiend. IE: Take your glorious Imperial ships to systems supporting the insignificant rebellion and bomb them to kingdom come. The more you destroy facilities, the more public support will go over to the rebellion through out the sector. 3.Adjust minor things like allowing the rebels to build things the Nebulon-frigate, Assault frigate and Mon Calamari Cruiser from game start. Give the rebel HQ six ship yards. 4.Finally, play 'turtle' upto about day 600 to 800, depending on the galactic situation. My apologies if you've done all the above already!

Anyway, IMP-22? Gosh what an insult! I was thinking more along the lines of the Imperial in the tactical battle.
  20. Just out of curiosity, Mr Demise, which side do you prefer playing?

    ...umm...i've got a sore throat...
  22. Yes, don't try to take on the Imperial military machine straight away. Be crafty. The Empire will start the game with several systems under military control. Get uprisings going on those systems and watch popular support for the Alliance grow, the more so if you can actually liberate the system. Get those planetary shields up and have strong garrisons to prevent the Empire being able to saboutage those shields. Also exploit the fact Alliance fighters have hyperdrives. Build a broad spread of both Y- and X-wing fighters; you don't have to loose any until the Empire has access to gravity-wells. Use infiltrators. Use guerillas- if you send them to systems before their garrisoned, there's a good chance they can stay underground sowing the seeds of unrest. Don't worry about not getting immediate results, it's a long term thing. Exlpoit the Outer Rim, but for god's sake don't colonize systems to near the Alliance HQ, if the Empire finds one there's a very high chance it will investigate the systems around it. Recruit using Han & Luke, every successful recruitment mission increases their Leadership. When your strong enough to blocade systems do so and use your characters to take out the garrisons (and work on uprisings if need be- it increasess their leadership attributes), you get to keep planetary defenses. Remember, Alliance characters tend to be a bit more flexable than their Imperial counterparts, exploit this. That's all I can think of right now, gentlemen; anything you'ld like to add?

    ...maybe it's because i'm English...

    GUI?

...and the Imperial officer has to have an English accent to stay authentic to the Star Wars feel....mine's not bad.
  25. ...and when you use your fighters against the rebels make sure you exploit the manuevers in the tactical mode. If you split up your squadrons with hammer and anvil manuevers the AI will only send it's own fighters after one of your attack goups, leaving the others to lay-in to their capaital ships...
