  1. Yes!
  2. Good lord! I haven't played proper Role Playing games for years. I think Rolemaster was the last one we used to play, set in Middle-Earth. I could spend hours boring you about my 44th level Noldor Fighter, Ingilmo Nielluin (Qu.'Bee of Azure') and his +60 Sword of Solitude. Thoughs were the days. I miss them...
  3. It looks like a TV screen in the days before 24 hour TV, after the late night shut down. How did we manage.
  4. There's probably an airbase up there that gives him the same sort of ear ache I was getting in Scotland, where I went for some 'peace and quiet.'
  5. My PC is a little shagged at the moment, so I must confess to not being at liberty to have a good look at your effort. I will however take the time to commend you for your contribution to the game we all love, and look forward to having a go with your TC as soon as my PC is replaced by something...that is'normal.' BTW: Where the heck are you from, besides Romania? Never heard of it!
  6. err... or a new TV series...err... ummm..
  7. Err...forgive my stupidity but after five or so minutes I highlighted the answer and spent another five trying to see it...no joy. Umm...
  8. WOO! Extremely well written and more importantly, very accurate. For the newbies out there, take this briefing seriously. Imperial opening strategy, anyone; on 'expert' the game is seriously hard, it takes me personally well upto 700-800 days to balance things off and start striking back... ideas:?:
  9. Very elequantly put. I think that most Star Wars fans would agree that the ESB is the best movie of the lot. Why is that? It's the darkest of the lot, and widely agreed even among that elitest buch of untouchables known as film critics to be a seriously good film! Very dark, no Ewoks or JJBs here, just despair and deep spiritual revelations... oh, and 'Imperial March,' a Super Star Destroyer, and Imperial might as it should/would be... (how did it not translate into ROTJ? ) Jahled pauses for a moment. Wasn't TESB written and directed by someone else?
  10. Not a bad post...BUT! I HATE THE ENTIRE ROGUE SQUADRON FRANCHISE PERIOD!!!! TIE fighters were/are superior to the 'antiques' of the rebels mentioned in the original Star Wars book; better lasers, targeting computers etc; so how come the rogues always gain the upper hand in the skirmishes of the comics that decorate my bookcase? Sense it makes not whatso ever, and carries that 'hero factor' to stupid levels. However, you are perhaps correct in touching upon the easiest spin-off that Lucas Arts could turn into a TV series... though having said that here in the UK on Tuesdays there's a TV drama called Holby City that features as surgeons the actor who played Wedge, and Captian Panacka; or what ever you call him, not least; who both look slightly older than their movie appearances... what do you reckon, Johny Depp?
  11. Personally I don't think GL is going to quit after EP III... each movie is making him wealthier than any film director could dream of, from the receipts on the door, to the sales of action figures detailing each movie characters nineteen different costume changes; not to mention sponsorship from themed cans of Coca Cola and McDonnalds Big Macs... But cartoons, even a Star Trek styled TV spin off is well beneath the entire aura and magic of the movies. But I guess both are bound to happen....eventually...

  13. Well, i've got to agree with virtually everything Texas wrote two posts back, my thoughts entirely, despite hating JJB I must confess to observing the kids in the movie theatre I saw EP I laughing in delight at his anics in the film, which is revealing really given ultimately the whole saga is a essentially geared at kids... and I must agree in simply giving up on the all the novals after the Thrawn books; from what i've read they've being getting more and more stupid, and badly writtian. But that's entirely my own point of view. While there are many elements of all the movies I have an issue with, to numerous to even touch upon here, ultimately GL has given my life a dose of sci-Fi Fantasy I have seriously warmed to, and I thank him for it.
  14. Well nice to see the voting is 3 to nothing as of the time of my post. GL has been largely slated for Episode One, largely redeemed for Episode Two; and I guess we're all holding our breaths for EPisode Three... but in the larger picture I actually feel the Phantom Menice actually starts the saga well... despite JJB... We must also remember GL has also given us Indiana Jones, which was seriously excellant cinema...
  15. The AA is the British Automobile Association; who save us when we brake down in the middle of nowhere... but they also teach folks how to drive... ...errr... well...umm... Being a teenager was fun at points, but a right headache at others when I look back on it... 'The bus incident in the AA learner car,' is one episode I care not to linger on. Wierd as it may sound, for someone who has spent most of their life staying vertical on two wheels, I simply couldn't get the bearings of a car when I was younger. Such is life.

Emm...ok, well i'm trying to have a look at your avatar...and your signiture...
  17. Yeah, and I wasn't kidding; the 'roar' of fighter jets gets a little bloody boring when you've correctly analyzed the fact your lodgings isn't double glaced!! So much for remote Scotish lochs... Lots of bloody heather and no sleep!
  18. No you didn't; don't worry about it; but my only wish right now is not haven driving an AA learner-car head-on into a bus... and to think i've survived all these years on two wheels....life is indeed very curious...
  19. Wooo! Yo La_Forge, do you remember that topic thread where I was playing around with AI Death Star 'Intelligence,' and to my horror stumbled on an AI Death Star NUMBER TWO?!? The bottom line is that Death Stars are seriously expensive to build and maintain, not least when both you as the player and the computer as the AI begin the game. However, there are things you can do to ensure the computer will build one at the beginning of the game; and bear in mind it wonts to! Obviously the forst thing you might want to play around with are the RebEd settings; without getting to carried away, I would recommend altering the Death Star's stats to 50/50, at least for the initial stages of the game. The computer will want to build a powerful fleet as well though, so don't think just by doing this it will oblige. No. Most importantly, and unfortunately; to be assured get the computer to build a Death Star, you have to leave it's system's well and truely alone during the early stages of the game. I've had games where i've found out the AI is building a Death Star only to get carried away and give the Imperials grief, only to discover the AI has lost so much mines/refineries that it (quite wisely) gives up on building a Death Star... blast! However, unless you are using RebEd to cheat extremely favorably for the rebels, do you actually want the Imperials to have a Death Star? My worst case scenario I mentioned to La_Forge was having Leia captured on one protected by a Death Star shield over Coruscant, and sending my main rebel fleet to Ghorman, only to be shocked to find a second very well defended Death Star!! The game quickly became very tricky indeed. But if you want to have the AI confront you with a Death Star (or two ) follow my simple guidelines above.... and it will work. Oh, BTW; I play Rebellion with all stats on half....errr... ummm.... GOOD LUCK!
  20. Gosh! After years of refusing to build the Carrack Light Cruiser on account of how boring it looks during the tactical battle, our main man Mask has just uploaded yet another remedy! Woo to you dude, cause you've yet again injected a fresh blast of air into our games. Oh, if anybody is wondering; go now and check out the downloads section...
  21. I think i've still got that zipped-up on my hard dive if anybody wants it...
  22. One interesting side effect of Ion Canons I read in the game's manual is their presance thwarts enemy attempts to detect any missions you are undertaking on a said protected system...
  23. Extreme wooness to you brother, (and thankiness for the Christmas card). I gotta say I just voted and it's reasonably obvious which title for... cause it should have just gone from four to five... Apologies for no blue bits to click on, i've just got back to London and my PC has mysteriously not repaired itself in my absense. Soooo, you get added to the list with Mask for extremely delayed celebrations when I get this aging little box sorted, or shift my butt to Holland...
  24. I'VE BEEN AWAY FOR QUITE SOME TIME, WHAT'S GOING ON HERE? WHAT IS EVERYBODY ON ABOUT? SORRY, BUT I'M SLIGHTLY DEAF AS A RESULT OF RAF TORNADOS FLYING DAY AND NIGHT OVER WHERE I'VE BEEN STAYING...
  25. One other interesting thing you should be aware of is watching the system and sector popular support edge itself towards your favour when you take out a enemy system's military presance then leave the system without having invaded it... it's reasonably subtle but quite evidant. Take out two or three systems in this manor and the sector's popular support will swing quite dramatically in your favour... ...respect BTW, Imperator, I take it then you were one of those dudes sat on those horses in Whitehall I pass a couple of times a day? Zen-Yoga has nothing on your capacity for utter motionless in the flash and commotion of all those tourist camuras going off in your faces... ...impressive... When I was wondering what to do with my life when I was a lot younger I went to an army careers advice centre but was told I wouldn't get anywhere on account of my heart-murmer... Not that that has ever held me back; I was a despatch rider on a push-bike for about six or so years, and earned the nick-name 'harry-dash' (quick as a flash) on the five a side football curcuit I did after ten hours biking once a week... but anyway...
