  1. There's gotta be intelligent life out there somewhere. It sure isn't here on this planet .
  2. "You must answer me these questions three:" 1) WHAT ... is your name? 2) WHAT ... is your favorite color? 3) WHAT ... is the airspeed velocity of an unladen Victory Star Destroyer II in a hot dry atomsphere like Tatooine?
  3. Thanks I like your new desktop backdrop. Does it have a title like "custom paint jobs/camouflage for Death Stars"? Whether you want to hide your Death Star from pesky rebel starfighters or make a galatic statement before blowing away an entire planet. Decide on the best custom paint schemes for your needs. Advertisers call for rates.
  4. Some padawans are just too impatient . Day 1650 Current Status: The Rebel HQ has been destroyed Luke Skywalker has been captured Mon Mothma must be captured to finalize Imperial victory. The final task: to track down a "single" person in the "entire galaxy". A person who has never been seen (not at all) the entire game. A very "tedious" task indeed. Darth Vader has arrived at Halowan (with his 18 Nogrhi commandos) aboard the SSD Executor. I'm now sending Menndo (my traitor) to catch up with Darth. I have a feeling he's "not" a traitor anymore (I hope he's learned his lesson). My existing fleet at Halowan has completed all repairs (except 1 dreadnaught). Two Strike cruisers and an ISD II are joining the fleet. All fighter squadrons have bee restocked (4 Tie fighters-my last in the entire galaxy, 8 Tie interceptors, 12 Defenders and 40+ Tie bombers). The damaged dreadnaught and eight Star galleons are remaining (two are still under construction) and four more Star galleons are arriving from the outer rim. I have all the Army troops standing by for the final offensive. My fleet is also totally stocked on troops (I swapped out six Army units for Dark Troopers, just for the fun of it). I pickup the few droids and commandos here and head for Umgul. Umgul and Sluis Van are the Imperial bases in the Sluis sector where I will pickup additional droids and commandos. The search for Mon Mothma has commenced! While Darth is traveling, I have the fleet at Caprionril bombard the last Mon Cal garrison troop. Boom! Caprionril has now gone neutral. The rebel fleet that keeps "raiding" this sector is reported to be gathering in the Glythe system. I send my fleet there. In the Farfin sector, I send my fleet from Phraetis to Bilbringi to "force(?)" a fight with the hopefully completed Bulwark battlecruiser. Uh oh, it's not here. Oh well, I bombard the Mon Cal garrison troops since I'm here. My fleet blows through the two Gen Core I's and destroys the LNR battery and all but one Mon Cal troop. Bilbringi is in uprising. I send out my droids to get info, and also send some to Byss (which has a high Imperial loyalty for a rebel system). While waiting for things to develop, I'm constantly balancing the construction of mines and refineries throughout the galaxy (maintenance floats between 1200 and 1400). I've stopped producing troops or spec forces, and most of the shipyards are going idle. Construction yards are the only thing staying constantly busy. Micro-management sucks! It just takes too much time. Early in the game it's not that bad a problem but at this late stage of the game it's pure hassle. I have tons of idle personnel throughout the galaxy (I'm tired of keeping all of the droids busy). I do keep the diplomats going when I remember them. Darth has arrived at Umgul. Intelligence reports a Bulwark battlecruiser arriving at Denab, but I won't beat him there. The fleet is on the way, anyway. Nothing but A-wings when I arrive. I take care of them quite easily. I bombard the garrison (Gen Cores aren't helping them much). I send down droids and commandos. I wipe the system clean of rebel troops and forces. I move on to Bpfassh and repeat everything again. I get some intelligence of a rebel fleet heading to Sullust, so that's my next stop. To freshen things up, I have only the Tie fighters and the SSD attack. The Tie fighters are getting wiped and the SSD is wiping out the A-wings. I have only a half of a Tie squadron left (6 out of 12 fighters), after that engagement. Blast the garrison troops away. I'm going after the commandos and Bothan spies now. They don't take too long. Now to wait for the rebel fleet (a CC9600 frigate). In the Glythe sector, my fleet encounters an escort carrier with X-wings. I send Tie bombers after the carrier and Tie intercepters after the X-wings. All capital ships are going after X-wings only. The rebels don't last long. I keep my fleet visiting all of the rebel systems in this sector bombarding all of their garrison troops. A rebel interdictor is blockading Tangrene (Dolomar sector) and has bombarded my training facilities. 1 troop facility and 1 Army unit are destroyed, and then he leaves. He shows up at Kamparas but retreats from my 8 Tie bombers. I have a 50-50 chance of guessing where he will go after retreating. I'm guessing Nentan in the Glythe sector, so I send my fleet there to wait for him. In the Corellian sector, a rebel Bulwark battlecruiser has shown up at Xyquine. He easily wipes out my 2 Tie bombers, then leaves. He arrives at Drall. There I have an ISD II, an escort carrier (both with Tie bombers), plus 8 additional Tie bombers. He flees! My guess is his retreat will take him to Sullust. I'll have a reception party waiting for him. In the Sesswenna sector, two SSD's (Imperial Might & Imperial Judgement) have just been launched. I'm loading them up with Tie bombers and troops. I'm quickly producing an interdictor for them before sending them out "hunting". My other SSD (Might makes Right) at Kamparas in the Dolomar sector has just launched, and I'm sending him to join my fleet in the Glythe sector. I'm thinking about sending this group to Yavin to "blow it to bits". At Byss I get info that Leia Organa is coming in 40+ days. I move my fleet there in preparation. To pass the time I have my commandos go after rebel spec forces (no garrison troops!). I keep droid spy missions running on Byss and Bilbringi. Maybe I should let Darth have the honor of capturing her? At Sullust, the CC9600 arrives. It's a sorry day for that poor crew. I send "everything" at him, and he doesn't last long. A rebel interdictor is now coming in a few days. He meets the same fate. While waiting for the Bulwark battlecruiser to show up (this is just a guess though), I have my fleet "tour" the nearby systems, practicing gunnery on A-wings and Mon Cal troops. It's not that exciting. Darth and Menndo (my traitor?) do some missions. No word from Darth he's still a traitor. Time to head back to Sullust. I arrive to an empty system, no Bulwark (boo!). I send droids done for info. Success! He arrives tomorrow (what a good guess on my part)! I have the Executor (SSD) in its own task force. I have the fighters/bombers go after the A-wings. Only the SSD is ordered to attack the Bulwark. The battle of the Goliaths has begun! They're slugging it out, shields dip then recharge, shots fired back and forth and back and forth. Eventually the Bulwark gets the advantage (an ion cannon shot to the shield generators)! The SSD is constantly firing, but his shields aren't keeping up with recharging! The Bulwark's shields are about at half when the SSD's fail completely! Ugh! I better send in some reinforcements ... the 40+ Tie bombers should arrive quickly. The SSD's is taking hull damage, but is still firing away! The Tie bombers arrive and commence attack. The Bulwark's shields are faltering, but he continues to hammer the SSD's hull. The Tie bombers have collapsed his shields! They're pounding his hull. Sub-systems are starting to fail, and soon he's a floating hulk. The SSD continues to fire, but the Tie bombers (green squadron) get credit for the "kill". Other than some hull and weapon damage, and no shield generators, the SSD is still up and running. I send the Executor (with Darth, the Nogrhi and some characters) to Byss to capture Princess Leia. Back at Coruscant, rebel infiltrators have failed to capture the Emperor. What a joke. But what's this? Page has escaped from my Vic ISD floating prison! ERRRR! He was one of my first prisoners, how dare he escape. Mazer Rackus has again tried and failed at abducting the Emperor. I beginning to wonder when Han or Luke might escape? At least they're on the planet with The Emperor. At Kamparas in the Dolomar sector, I have two Strike cruisers made to stop rebel hit and run raids. An interdictor is now started. The rebels have come back. Uh oh, this time instead of an interdictor, they show up with a Bulwark cruiser (another one)! This doesn't look promising, no, not one bit. My Tie bombers can't leave, so I'm going to stick it out. What a mess. The 10 A-wings are cutting up my 8 Tie bombers (I sent the bombers after the Bulwark). The Strike cruisers are holding their own, but they're losing the shield game. The A-wings turn on the Strike cruisers also. It's all over now, I just have to wait for the rebels to destroy my floating hulks (which doesn't take them very long). After they destroy my ships, they head out. Well, at least they didn't bombard my system. Imperial loyalty takes a big hit (about 20%), and Caprionril rejoins the rebellion. Now I know why they didn't go for bombardment, they didn't want to damage the good PR they just gained. Kamparas is now making 20 Tie bombers (I scrapped what little of the interdictor there was). After these I'm going to make another 20 to 40. I'll have so many Tie bombers if that Bulwark comes back he'll be torpedoe fodder. No rebel interdictor shows up at Nentan, so I'm sending the fleet back to Kamparas until the Tie bombers are ready for defense. Darth and fleet have arrived at Byss. I send him down to capture Leia. Failure. There are still too many spec forces? I send in the commandos, characters and even Darth himself. Guerillas, Bothan spies and infiltrators are going down (slowly, but surely). I have three groups of Nogrhi and Darth (with some Nogrhi) go after Leia. One of the Nogrhi groups succeed! Now there's bonus info. Apparently "my forces" (which ones I don't know) have foiled a "suppress uprising" mission on Bilbringi. They've foiled no other than Mon Mothma herself! Now I know where she's at! For the present, I'm sending Luke and Han (with guards) to the Executor. It's time for a family reunion! After which I still have some things I would like to do before capturing Mon Mothma (she's going to be quite busy with the uprising on Bilbringi. Maybe I should destroy another garrison troop since a few have recently arrived?). I still want to flatten Yavin (I guess I should rescue Labansat first though). And I want to find and take out the other Bulwark battlecruiser. Then there's all the Star galleons I have at Halowan (12 all loaded with troops). Maintenance is up to 2700 and I have over 250+ refined materials. The mines/refineries I started earlier are just cranking away apparently. Maybe I should build a Death Star? The end of the rebellion is getting near. Their fate is now dependent on my slightest whim.
  5. I saw this today while doing a little surfin' Gave me a chuckle http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/7355/disableddv3uq.th.jpg
  6. I really like Maul, BUT unfortunately GL had to kill him off in one film . He had GREAT potential to do so much more. I really would have liked to see more of his "character" (one of the novels helped, somewhat). That being said, I vote for Darth Vader. Luckily he was in the "early" trilogy when GL wasn't killing people off. His "character" (dark side?) is pretty well developed on film (ESB, oh yeah!) so you can just "feel" the evil rolling off him.

  8. Day 1450: Things are about to get interesting ... All the sectors I control are status quo (blah, blah, blah). Let's jump to the action! Dolomar sector: The fleet arrives at Phraetiss to the despair of the twelve defending A-wings. Hey wait, WTF! Where's the other half of my fleet?! None of my ISD's are around, only the interdictor and Lancers have arrived! Well, that's more than enough for these poor rebels. The ensueing battle (or slaughter) doesn't last long. I send down several espionage missions. The next day my fleet of ISD's arrive. Apparently one of the ISD II's (Avenger) has hyperdrive damage. I transfer all possible units to the other vessels and send Avenger back to Kamparas for repairs. The commandos/characters are going after the Gen Cores. One of the espionage missions has reported in, Luke Skywalker is due to arrive insystem in 10 days. I have that long to get "ready". It takes a couple of more missions but the Gen Cores and lone LNR battery are destoyed. Release the turbolasers! And it only takes one volley to elimanate the three Mon Cal garrison troops. Other than mines and refineries, Luke Skywalker is the only thing "rebel" in this sytem. On the day Luke arrives, he gets injured coming "in system". That's what you get for trying to force your way through an Imperial blocade! I send down Darth and 18 Nogrhi to abduct Luke. The fateful encounter ... Darth Vader is ... CAPTURED!! Uuuuuuuuuggggggghhhhhhhh!!! What the heck! Darth's stats are a far cry above Luke's, and Luke is still a ... Jedi student! This makes me feel sick. All of the Nogrhi have returned though. I send half with my characters to rescue Darth, and the other half to abduct Luke. Both missions succeed!! Darth and Luke are on their way to Coruscant. I better send the Nogrhi there also (just in case). OK, now what? The rebel loyalty on Firro is looking abit sad. Maybe it's time to go visit them and cheer them up! After polishing off the pathetic A-wings, I decide to save the Gen Cores for "later use". Sabotage missions go after the three Mon Cal garrison troops. Two are taken out instantly and Firro is now in uprising (nice work boys!). Some more sabotage missions go down. Success!! Firro joins the Empire!! Now Phraetiss goes neutral (there went that almost completed Dauntless cruiser). Who's next on the list? Rishi is the next system to visit on our whirl wind vacation cruise! Again, what pathetic A-wings. Let's save those Gen Cores so we can use them later. Commandos away!! Rishi is in uprising!! Phraetiss joins the Empire!! Khomm, Wistril and Kinyen all go neutral!! The last garrison troop on Rishi doesn't last long. Rishi goes neutral! Khomm, Wistril and Kinyen join the Empire!! Tanaab goes neutral! Next stop Charmath. A-wings are such the bore. Commandos away!! There's no uprising this time, all three troops are wiped out. Charmath joins the Empire!! Rishi and Tanaab join the Empire!! Only Byss and Bilbringi remain aligned with the rebels (and barely). Since I want the Bulwark battlecruiser on Bilbringi to be completed, I won't interfere with the remaining systems. Interesting that in just the matter of a couple of weeks time (mostly traveling between systems), that the entire political scene could shift so dramatically. Oh, and maintenance has shot up to over 1200! Muwhahahaha!! What a couple of ISD's worth of turbolasers and commandos will get you these days!! In the meantime, a rebel fleet has blocaded (again) and bombarded one of my systems in the outer rim (it's an empty system so far). This rebel fleet has grown from the interdictor and escort carrier, to now include a CC9600 frigate and a bulk transport. My one lone Army unit has survived their bombardment. The rebels flee!! I send a strike fleet from Halowan to deal with the rebels (1 dreadnaught, 1 ISD, 1 interdictor, 2 escort carriers, 2 Vic ISD II's and 2 Strike Cruisers). The Army unit on that system is being tranferred to Coruscant as a reward for their bravery. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader finally arrive at Coruscant. The injured Jedi student confronts the Emperor in the Final Battle (for himself that is)! Luke Skywalker has earned himself ... a nice prison cell next to Han Solo!! Muwhahaha!! These poor pathetic rebel scum are no match for the Empire! Now, where is Mon Mothma hiding?? Darth Vader has just taken command of the recently launched SSD Executor with all of his Nogrhi commandos. I send them to Halowan to prepare for the final extermination of the rebellion. Espionage droids are being prepared across the galaxy. Soon every rebel system will be put under the watchful eye of the Empire. I sure do want to battle a couple of those Bulwark battlecruisers before capturing Mon Mothma. But, I am getting ahead of myself as I don't know where she's located yet. I might just sit around for a couple of hundred days so the rebels can "complete" their pathetic fleet. By that time my other SSD's should be ready!

  10. AdmiralToguroAni wrote: I think that was more from the "casting department" than the Force . That was in one of the novels (don't remember which). Cighal used the Force to "pull" the poison out of Mon Mothma's body. It was very tedious as she had to "search" through her entire body (on the molecular level), identify the "poison" and manipulate it out of the body.
  11. Darth_Rob wrote: Yoda chose Dagobah because (according to some novel, I don't remember which), Yoda defeated a Dark Jedi in combat in a cave (the cave that Luke is eventually "tested" in). The cave now "eminates" the Dark Side, which provides a "cloak" (so to speak) for Yoda's "Light Side". In the NJO series, Vergere said she learned to conceal her Jedi powers (the Force?) by "pulling it inside of her". Making it so small it couldn't be detected (but it was still there). Palpatine might also have this knowledge so he could "hide in plain sight"?
  12. Welcome to the hardest part of winning the game as the Rebel Alliance. You captured Palpatine, you've successfully assaulted Coruscant, all you need to do is capture Darth Vader. He can be anywhere. He might even go into hiding on Dagobah with Yoda (just a joke mind you). If you haven't already, start colonizing all the systems in the outer rim. Get all neutral systems to your side (via diplomacy or assault). After every single system in the entire galaxy is yours, he's bound to pop up somewhere (maybe). If you can't find him after an extensive search, he might be in hyperspace or is on a mission (doing what I wouldn't know, maybe starting an uprising so he can have his own Imperial system?). Good Luck, you'll need it.
  13. DarthTofu wrote: Well, let's see what I was referring to ... DarthTofu wrote: You provided this idea on getting "info". You didn't specifically say to find the rebel HQ . "Info" to me has a much larger context. My imperial engineering training has ingrained in me to be very specific about things.
  14. DarthTofu wrote: Not necessarily true. Just because you orbit a planet doesn't mean you have all the updated info about it. Only a successful espionage mission will give you a complete up-to-date "picture" of everything happening at that particular point in time. Blocading a system should let you know info on facilities, I'm not sure on troops, and most likely NOT on spec forces. And without good intell you won't know about the huge massive rebel fleet (with interdictor) that is hypering in to kick your Imperial butt (just guessing on this, I haven't completed my espionage mission yet).
  15. Day 1350: Things have gotten a bit interesting and I pressed on ... Sesswenna sector: I forgot to mention last time that Page is also a prison floating over Coruscant in the private Vic ISD prison. Chewbecca has been captured in his feeble attempt to abduct the Emperor and now "floats" with the other prisoners. Mazer Rackus has since tried and failed (again). Han Solo remains on planet as "bait". Ship research has been completed. Klev is "general" on Coruscant, and Bevel is on a diplomacy assignment on the Kabal system in the Mayagil sector (just for the fun of it, his diplomacy is only rated at 10). Thrawn is now "Grand Admiral" of the Coruscant defense fleet. Darth Vader is currently commanding the special strike fleet being assembled at Kamparas. I have also assembled a huge number of commandos, Nogrhi & droids there for his disposal. After "touring" the rebel systems in the Dolomar sector, I'm having Darth go "hunting" for Luke Skywalker (a la ESB). I have sent two ISD II's (from Svivren and Uvena shipyards) with Darth to go to Kamparas (there is another ISD II almost complete there). Uvena is now producing Tie bombers, as well as the shipyards at Bortras (another advanced shipyard is complete there). The shipyards at Svivren are working on my first SSD! Maintenance took a big hit on that production order! Intelligence has reported Orrimaako and Ma'w'shiye on a "rescue" mission. Needless to say, they failed (unfortunately they weren't captured). Corellian sector: The Corellian fleet has been sent to Halowan in the Fakir sector. Drall and Xyquine are producing more Tie bombers. I then shift Drall to build two more escort carriers which load up with the Tie bombers and head to Halowan. Drall is currently working on an ISD II and Xyquine is still at Tie bombers. Advanced shipyards are constantly being added/upgraded to Drall & Xyquine as maintenance permits. Selonia is sending a dozen Army units to the Duflivan sector, after which they'll be making Army units for Drall. Menndo (my traitor) is back. Off to Yavin (again) now. Occasionally a rebel mission is foiled here or there. I've quit spying on my systems as it was becoming tedious, and nothing much was being discovered. Fakir sector: All is quiet here. Occasionally a rebel mission is foiled here or there. I've quit spying on my systems as it was becoming tedious, and nothing much was being discovered. I've had the advanced shipyards at Mrisst make two more escort carriers. Ando and Halowan are producing Tie bombers. Mrisst is now also making Tie bombers. I just sent 18 Tie bombers to Sluis Van and 12 to Umgul (Sluis sector). Raltiir is making more espionage droids. The commandos have been sent to Sluis Van along with the droids. Now the order of the day is more Army units (garrison troops for the big Sluis push). As maintenance points allow, I'm stock piling stuff and sending some onto Sluis Van/Umgul. Sluis sector: The fleet has been "relaxing", while Piett wraps up diplomacy on Sluis Van. Pter Thanas is doing diplomacy on Umgul. Bin Esada has yet to arrive. I'm sending out sabotage missions here and there, mostly going after Gen Cores, LNR's and/or garrison troops (roughly in that order). I'm also sending out spys in groups of 5 (using 1 decoy) every where. Nothing interesting yet, but almost all missions to Bpfassh seem to fail. I'm sending the fleet down to investigate (maybe the HQ is here?). NO, it was wishful thinking. I take out the fighters and send down the spys/commandos. A different spy mission gives me my info on Bpfassh: General Neva is here, that's why the missions are failing. Another spy mission has stated there are three bulk cruisers at Da Soocha (Abrion sector). These use to orbit around Yavin early in the game (could the HQ be here?). I'm sending my fleet to Da Soocha. Bin Esada has arrived (he's on "vacation" until I can find something for him to do). Meanwhile, I keep up the sabotage and spying throughout this sector as much as possible. I don't have any facilities, so everything must come from someplace else (basically all replacements are coming from Halowan). I've been sending probe droids to the Jospro, Orus, Xappyh and Abrion sectors. The Abrion sector (where Da Soocha is located) has all non-neutral systems under rebel control! Not all the systems are fully developed, but they all have a couple of facilities minimum. At Da Soocha my fleet arrives (2 Vis ISD's, 1 ISD, 1 dreadnaught, 1 interdictor, 4 Lancers and 3 escort carriers), the rebel fleet consists of 3 bulk cruisers, 1 Liberator cruiser and 20 A-wings. I send the Vic ISD's and ISD after the Liberator cruiser, two groups of Tie bombers after two bulk cruisers and everybody else against the A-wings. Just an FYI, my fleet was just restocked with starfighters before heading over here. Everybody is maneuvering around, but I notice one difference: most of the A-wings are going after one of the Vic ISD's instead of the Tie bombers!? Also, the Liberator cruiser is concentrating on the same Vic! That Liberator is keeping up with all the shots from my ISD's. The Vic's shields are now gone & they're pounding into the hull. I only have his shields down by 50%. The Tie bombers have wiped out the two bulk cruisers and are moving onto the third. What few Tie interceptors I had are long gone, and now the A-wings have abandoned the Vic ISD and are wiping out my Tie bombers. My ISD is now being pounded by the Liberator cruiser. All of my Tie bombers are now history, but the last bulk cruiser is now a hulk cruiser. The A-wings are going for my other Vic ISD. My Lancers and escort carriers have been whittling down the A-wings, but they're not very fast at it. My ISD is not firing anymore, and his shields are gone. There is some minor hull damage so far. The Liberator turns on the last Vic ISD, but his shields are now gone. When the last A-wings are finished off, I order the Lancers and escort carriers after the Liberator. They sure don't help that much. The A-wings have done their number on the Vic's shields. It's a straight "pound-em out" contest. I finally get the upper hand when his weapons systems crash! Hooray!! I finally win!! But man, did I get a butt kicking. I'm sending some starfighter reinforcements from Sluis Van (I don't have enough for a full restock though). The first Vic ISD is toast! I send its troops to Umgul. It's time to "scrap" this faithful ship. So long old friend. While waiting for the starfighter replacements some repairs are done. After they arrive, I finish my "survey" of this sector looking for the rebel HQ. I only find A-wings and ground troops. I waste'm all. Traveling around has been sluggish due to hyper drive damage. After the last rebel system is "visited", I send the fleet back to Halowan for repairs and R&R. Dolomar sector: Darth Vader has arrived at Kamparas with the two ISD II's. The third ISD II at Kamparas was just launched (what timing!). Tie bombers are currently being made. Garindan, Labansat, Niles Ferrier and Shenir Rix have all been transferred to the fleet at Sarka. I send Darth and his ships to join my fleet at Sarka as well. After Darth's arrival, I only need a few more sabotage missions and the last Gen Core goes up in smoke (with thanks to my helpful characters). Turbolasers to maximum power! Imperial loyalty is high here. I allow only one bombardment per day (I don't want any "accidents" on civilian facilities, and a loyalty fallout). The last Mon Cal troops are toast, but the system remains rebel. A rebel task force (an escort carrier and interdictor) have blocaded one of my systems in the Glythe sector (where my galleon disappeared). I send a strike fleet of two ISD's (Mk I's) and three Lancers do run them off (Labansat & Garindan are on board). I send the (remaining) fleet to Ketaris. As soon as my fleet departs, Sarka goes neutral. The defending A-wings at Ketaris are no match for my fleet. I put Admiral Daala in charge while I send Darth Vader to do diplomacy at Sarka. As with Sarka, Imperial loyalty is high here. Turbolasers to maximum power! I bombard the Wookie garrison (1 bombardment per day max, it only takes two days). When the last wookies are wiped out, Ketaris joins the Empire!! Sarka has also now joined the Empire!! Darth wraps up diplomacy on Sarka quickly and goes to Ketaris (diplomacy). After some increases in loyalty, I send my fleet to Caprionril. The fleet arrives and blocades the system (apparently the A-wings have been sent somewhere else). I send down several espionage droids and commandos on missions. All of the troops I was expecting are nowhere to be found. Either they were transferred or I arrived before them (Oh well). The fleet sits here for awhile, maybe some rebel reinforcements will come? My strike fleet gets to Yag'Dhul to find the rebel fleet gone. I then send it to Fornax (a previous HQ location). the only thing here now are some A-wings and Mon Cal troops. I blast them all. Just for the heck of it, I send this fleet to Yavin. Upon arrival, I'm confronted by a lone Y-wing and a lone X-wing. How pathetic. Interesting, that Yavin has a Bulwark battlecruiser under construction here (it's not too far along, maybe 5%)! Bren Derlin is general here. I send down my commandos (I didn't bring that many, only ten) to go after both Gen Cores (with Labansat & Garindan in each group). Both missions fail, and Labansat has been captured. I don't have the resources to rescue him and I can't do anything with the Gen Cores in place. I'll come back and get you, don't worry. Hey, Menndo (my traitor) is availabe for a mission. Instead of spying on Yavin, I'll have him "rescue" Labansat on Yavin! Sorry about that Labansat, I apologize for the "poor quality" rescue mission. I'll follow up with something better. I send the fleet to Tanaab (Farfin sector) to do some recon through that sector on the way back to base (Kamparas). After Tanaab, I want to do some scouting at various systems here. My plans are short lived. Tanaab has a defending fleet! It isn't much, but good enough to kick my butt. There are two Dauntless cruisers and a CC9600 frigate (plus several A-wings). I let the battle sequence start just to see what happens (I recall my starfighters immediately so they won't get killed or left behind). I know they are going to come after me. I get a few shots off at the A-wings (which are confused because my starfighters just landed). Man those newer model rebel ships move fast! They're not quite halfway across the screen and are already firing on my fleet. Time to high tail it out of here. After absorbing several shots, the fleet ends up back on Yag'Dhul (Glythe sector). Damn if those rebels didn't hit my shield generators! Back to Kamparas for some quick repairs. I have my fleet at Caprionril go to Kamparas to regroup my fleet. When repairs are all complete I have Darth Vader take command again of the fleet (Diplomacy on Ketaris is not 100% but close enough). I'm waiting on some more espionage droids and probe droids, then it's time to hunt down Luke Skywalker. Intelligence shows a lone Dauntless cruiser heading to Caprionril. So I send my fleet over to take care of it, while the droids are being finished up. I arrive a day early. The system is (still) defenseless. The Dauntless arrives. I order (only) the ISD's to attack. The Dauntless targets an ISD II. The ISD II's fire twice as fast as the I's. The Dauntless is hanging in there but his shields are steadily going down. My ISD II that is being attacked is replenshing his shields fairly quickly (they're not down that much so far). I then unleash my (21) Tie bombers. The ISD's have collapsed the Dauntless' shields just as the Tie bombers arrive. The hull damage is mounting up quickly. All of his systems fail and destruction is only seconds away. BOOM! One less rebel cruiser. While waiting on the final probe droids, I send the espionage droids down to Caprionril (six missions of 5 droids each). The missions are reporting in. Info about various other systems comes in as well (blah, blah, blah). There's another Bulkwark battlecruiser being constructed Bilbringi (but I'm not sure where the shipyard that's constructing it is located; it's not too far along, maybe 10%). I keep sending them down. Pay Dirt!! The rebel HQ is currently located on Tanaab! I abort all of the current espionage missions and send the fleet to Tanaab (the remaining probe droids can catch up later!). The same rebel fleet is still defending Tanaab (two Dauntless cruisers and a CC9600 frigate, plus several A-wings). I order the ISD II's to go after 1 Dauntless, the ISD I's after the CC9600 frigate, and all Tie bombers after the last Dauntless cruiser. Everything else is going after fighters. The rebel fighters are in two groups, some after fighters and some after Tie bombers. But they don't last long either way. All of the rebel ships are concentrating on an ISD II (Avenger, and guess who is on board commanding? And your first two guesses don't count ... Darth Vader). Turbolaser fire is criss-crossing the screen everywhere (it almost reminds me of fireworks, green, blue and red). I order the fighters to help the Tie bombers and all other ships to attack any capital ship (not that they'll cause much damage). The ISD II's finish off their Dauntless first, quickly followed by the Tie bombers' Dauntless. The ISD II's help finish off the CC9600 frigate (the ISD I's didn't do too bad by themselves). I send down my "army of commandos" to go after the Gen Cores and the LNR battery. I think I have approximately three missions per Gen Core of six commandos each. Most missions are failing, but at least the commandos are returning. There goes one of the Gen Cores! I'll send Darth personally with a couple of commandos (most are decoys anyway). There goes the other Gen Core! The bombardment begins!! Turbolaser fire scorches the rebel troops. The cut scene of the rebel HQ being destroyed is showing! Yeehaaaww!! Look at that puppy go down in flames!! Wail in despair rebel scum, you have no more hope in your traitorous quest! Rebel loyalty in this sector just took a big hit. In other sectors it is unchanged. I finish off the remaining troops (there are only a couple left). I send the probe droids throughout this sector and espionage droids down to Tanaab. An old report showed Luke going to Phraetiss, several droids go there. Some probe droids are reporting in while others are failing (a couple have not returned). The espionage mission to Phraetiss has failed. When all droids have returned, I'll send my fleet to Phraetiss and do a more personal espionage mission (maybe with Darth himself!?). For most of this time maintenance has been hovering around 200. I've been producing Tie bombers, Army units and spec forces, but have been conservative on other major construction projects. I still keep updating shipyards or adding some if the maintenance allows (I'm short on refineries and have over 200 surplus raw materials). As CY's become available I'm producing refineries twice as much as mines (eventually I'll be short on mines, but I have a surplus or raw materials just in case). Refineries and mines are being deployed here and there throughout the sectors. Most of the outer rim sectors near the Sesswenna sector are producing mines/refineries (Duflivan, Kanchen and Quelli sectors just have completed their CY's). Jerjerrod and Pellaeon are conducting diplomacy in the outer rim neutral systems. Garrison troops are available/deployed in the previous mentioned sectors. I've left my main shipyards and training facilities idle lately. By the time I destroyed the rebel HQ, maintenance had jumped to 600. Feeling good after that encounter, I ordered my three main shipyards to produce SSD's (that's a total of four on order, the first is half complete). Other shipyards are making Tie bombers/interceptors for the SSD's, and training facilities are producing Army units for SSD garrison duty. By the time all is said and done, maintenance is at 40! NO MORE BUILDING for awhile! I'm not too worried about the rebel fleet causing problems (blocade or assault), but you never know. I expect several more mines/refineries to come online soon. When the smaller facilities complete their tasks, they will be left idle. I think I have enough forces right now to finish off the galaxy. Now it's time to hunt down Luke Skywalker and Mon Mothma.
  16. If the recon mission failed, then NADA (you usually don't get any new info). And yes probe droid missions to enemy systems do work. Usually systems that are good at detecting missions (with generals, or Sullustan troops, other characters, etc) will easily detect the recon mission and foil it. Probe droids are good for "cursory glances" at under defended systems. For good quality info you have to send in the espionage droids.
  17. My vote goes to Yoda. Note the big "IF" here. IF order 66 wasn't killing Jedi all over the galaxy, and the "military" had not turned on the Jedi, then I believe in a long drawn out duel Yoda would have taken Palpatine. I think Yoda had the "edge" (and not a big one mind you) battling Palpatine in the Senate chambers, and that Palpatine knew it. Palpatine looked like he was getting desparate at times (maybe this helped "spark" some of his Dark Side reserves?). But as we see in the movie, Yoda is "alone" while Palpatine has clone trooper reinforcements (more of a distraction than a threat). And Yoda must either kill all of them before going after Palpatine. Yoda is not into "killing innocents" as they have fallen for Palpatine's lies and treachery. So in a better part valor, he retreats with his honor intact and his dignity wounded.
  18. No matter how the rebel HQ is found (probe droid, espionage mission or searching fleet, etc), it will appear on the Galactic map with the BIG WHITE STAR. When you see that, BINGO!! Don't wait too long, it might not be there for very long (it depends on who found it and how). Usually when the HQ is found by ships, probe droids, or even active espionage missions (or other "active" missions), it will move and soon. If found through an espionage mission via a different system, or provided information, the HQ is "unaware" it has been discovered and sits there awhile or until something triggers it to move.
  19. Thanks Evaders! I'm going to give that a try. I have no idea how you get to that particular screen (other than your link). I was trying to change my signature from the "Info" selection under "Your Account". It would never save my changes . As soon as I post this, I'll see whether or not I have a signature! Yeeehhaaa!! It works!!
  20. God's speed on your final flight Admiral. Long live the Empire.
  21. Signature doesn't work for me either. I currently don't have one, and have tried several times to add one, to no effect. I occasionally try again, but to no avail. *** whispering voice behind me *** "Do, do not try, that is why you fail" Who said that?
  22. Yes, the AI can (and does, sometimes) move the rebel HQ to the Core. I believe there has to be 1 energy slot available on the system to "host" the HQ. So, if you have updated info (via espionage or probe droid) about all the systems in a sector, you can eliminate those that are fully used. Good hunting!
  23. Numerouno wrote: What's with the negativity? Think of it as "a very good challenge". It's always more satisfying when you win if you started the game as the underdog . My suggestions: Coruscant: gets lots of espionage droids and commandos; spy and sabotage ALL rebel facilities first (forget about ships & troops for now), then go for spec forces. Make sure you spy on your own systems to discover rebel missions. For defense have a "general" and three Gen Cores (this will hopefully foil most rebel missions and safe guard what troop forces you have). Get a diplomat to Yaga Minor ASAP. Corellian sector: sabotage rebel troops on Xyquine (start an uprising). Get the diplomats going ASAP. Fakir sector: Forget it for now. You can come back to this later when you have sufficient forces built up. Sluis sector: kick the rebels out of this sector. Sabotage and assault ASAP. Then get the diplomats going on all the other systems. Farfin sector: Get diplomats going on neutral systems first, then build up your own loyalty where needed. Sabotage rebel systems and do uprising missions (if feasible). Dolomar sector: Either forget about this system or turn it into a "thorn" for the rebels. If you're going to keep it, get a "general". Rebel diplomats are going to be competing for the neutral systems; so do spy and assassination missions. Concentrate your diplomats on Yaga Minor first, then Farfin, Sluis, Corellian and Dolomar sectors (in that order). Try to get control an entire sector first, then move on to the other sectors (don't pass up on special opportunities if they happen to be convenient). You didn't mention what ships you have available for fleet actions, or facilities for manufacturing. So keep a good defensive fleet at Coruscant (use it to raid the rebel systems, don't over bombard too much - the shifting loyalty). Stock up on lots of Tie bombers for defense. Go after any neutral systems with facilities first, then put them to work. Either go for a battle of production of materials with lots of battles/assaults, or win by attrition (wipe out all of their facilities, including mines or refineries <= you only have to wipe out lots of one type to reduce maintenance points). Good Luck!
  24. I didn't read NJO: Ylesia. That one was an "ebook" and I couldn't check it out at the library . But it does sound interesting. I didn't know the Peace Brigade (PB) was that well armed. I just assumed they had to fend for themselves (in terms of equipment). And because of the Vong techno hatred, the Vong would destroy everything technological rather than have it around (even if it meant giving it to their "allies"). But there are always exceptions made in war. Defender_16 wrote: The only problem with that is the DS is an Imperial weapon, now to be on the New Republic and Allied side. It would be impossible to have a Vong ship on the NR "side", and have the Vong control it. You'll probably have to rework the Bulwark to be a Worldship (can't RebEd change the quantity of troops & fighters appropriately?). As for the Center Point Starion card ... let me think about it a bit (I haven't made any cards before, so I don't know what I'd be getting myself into . Also, working on the "stats" will prove "interesting" ).
