Well there are very little rules, but we've managed to hold it together. It's advisable that you post your idea for a character here so we can comment on it and fit it into the frame which is the RPG. This will also keep you from screwing up the timeline. We've had all sorts of things occur so far, and some of the campaigns are oriented toward one sort of combat more then another. I'd expect that new members start out with a lesser rank then the older members, acting as subordinates until they've gained enough experience to be promoted to an equal position. Many times the RPGers will find themselves caught up in larger events dictated by yours truly. These events force the RPG to follow a basic plot and story, only in the Subplot RPGs are the RPGers given a large amount of freedom in their actions due to the smaller scale of the campaign. I'd advise that new members to avoid becoming Forceusers right off the bat. Remember that at the start of the RPG there were only 50-60 Jedi to cover the entire Galaxy, now that number has already taken some losses. We can't have twenty more Jedi running around with all the "historical" jedi actors. We've got a large number of factions for you to choose from... The Galactic Federation of Free Alliances (GFFA) The United Defense Alliance (UDA) The Imperial Remnant The Mandalorian Tribes The Raporan Imperium The Sith The Vaathkree The Aklasp The Vagaari The Chiss We haven't had the Hapans yet, nore the Hutts, but those factions will probably become involved in time. In terms of reference there is some things you're going to have to know... For that theres the Encyclopedia (Which needs updating). At the very least read the section on the Rapora. You can add new classes of ships and equipment if you want but to do so I ask that you post a short description of the vessel and its capabilities, don't do this too often or we'll have ten thousand different types of ships in one story. I ask that you treat this RPG with seriousness and some dare I say respect. The GFFA is staring at an invasion and I intend to make it darker then anything you've ever seen. You shouldn't join the Introductory RPG thread, its about to finish up. I'd suggest you join the Breaking the Vagaari thread or another campaign once I start it up. You probably won't want to join the Vaathkree Affair due to the "diplomatic" nature of the Campaign. There aren't any big battles in that one. Post your character and we'll see where you fit... and please somebody join the Raporan or Vagaari sides, we've got far to few of them.

Well I was thinking of calling the Main RPG good and cutting it off after Ord Mantell. I'll break it down into several theaters of operations... Breaking the Vagaari (Unknown Regions Campaign): Will the Vagaari be able to break free of their alliance with the Rapora or are the bonds to strong to be broken by the forces of the UDA and GFFA. The Vaathkree Affair (Diplomatic Campaign): The Aklasp are a fearsome foe requiring the GFFA and Empire to find an equally fearsome ally. Will they be able to convince the Vaathkree to join their cause or loose another system to the enemy. The Cycle of the Force (The Force Campaign): Anakin Skywalker, Zonoma Sekot, the Jedi, and the History of the Rapora. Mostly rebuilding Zonoma, covert operations, and running from the Rapora and Sith. Balance of Empire (The Imperial Campaign): An agent of the empire long thought dead is returned and the gears of a plot to undo the empire begin to move as a virus spreads from within. Stand Firm (The Alliance Campaign): Cal Omas draws a line in the sky and vows that the Rapora shall not cross it. Piting the forces of the Alliance against the Rapora along a thousand system front. What do you think?

Don't go or not go to a film because of the actors! I never go to the film because of the actors, I care about the story not the people playing in it. Hell Cruise is really overshadowed in terms of acting by his costars, Spielburg tends to do that in films, focus on the children. I'd be willing to bet money that War of the Worlds will win film of the year, its that good.

Thats Anubis's Mothership. 2 Epsidoes, thats just a drop in the bucket, there are something like over 200 Stargate SG-1s, the Stargate Feature Film, and a spinoff called Atlantis... Keep watching, they're excellent... and they mock everything you can think of, including star wars.

OOC: This Subplot primarily is devoted to the campaign by the GFFA and UDA to remove the Vagaari from Raporan influence. The keys to the campaign will be espinoage, covert actions, and outright coercion by both sides. IC: The ruling chambers of the Vagaari Imperator were a plush and formal setting, that much hadn't changed. The purple curtains that had once lined the windows were gone, replaced by a crimson red veil. The once brilliantly adorned table of the chieftans a treasure from millenia ago was gone from the councilor chambers. In its stead a twenty-eight pointed star on the black marble flooring marked where it had stood. Admiral Draskan ignored his memories of the room, and the memories of the Vagaari that had once lead in it. That was history, and he had vital information for the Imperator. Moving with delibrate speed he marched past the two guards clad in the red armor of the Allegiance Cohort. Still there was one being in the room that Draskan couldn't ignore as he entered. The clack of his claw echoed in the chamber as he stepped from the side and closed with him. He was the Imperator's Praetor, and he was not Vagaari. The Rapora known as Krendar stood with his eyes watching the Admiral's every move and Draskan felt his pulse quicken as he stepped within the broad oval of the room's center. Slowly the form of the Imperator appeared at the doorway and waved him forward. Draskan hoped the news that he'd be bringing would not cost him his life. * * * Epsilon base was an enormous structure, hidden within the asteroid belt of the world of Palis VII. It was a long abandoned mining post, its girders and compartments long ago converted from its original use, and evidently converted again with each new occupant. The United Defense Alliance had been no different, Lieutenant Jula Malone thought as he slowly sifted through the cards in his hand. It had taken him to months to teach the locals Sabacca, and now he was coming to regret it. The Chiss he reflected, have the absolute mastery of the gambling mask. They're born with it he thought and glancing over at his two human opponents from the UDA he thought that the Chiss had given them classes. With a sigh he tossed his cards on the table and leaned back from it, "Thats it, I'm out." Across from him General Drask smiled slowly and lowered the cards, "Thank you for another game lieutenant, perhaps we should sometime try a less random form of gaming, dejarka perhaps?" Jula frowned, "No, I'm kind of tired of these games. My troops are too sir." He shook his head, "Hopefully Hirotek will let us infiltrators loose pretty soon. We'd like to see some action." Maybe show the Vagaari how the GFFA can get them at home he didn't add. General Drask just shook his head, with the chiss military gone he'd been pulled into orbit around the UDA, and like Jula he wanted to get a chance to strike back. But he hid it better then his Human friend. Beside him Commander Menisa Lore yawned, "Yeah I want off this rock too." She sighed as she set her cards down on the makeshift table, "My pilots are itching to go, whenever General Drask has orders to give us, we'll be ready." Suddenly the other human, the man straightened as a chirp sounded in his pocket followed by a voice, "Base commander Denim Alexi to the bridge. Hirotek's forces have just dropped out of hyperspace."

Athien felt a a feeling as cold as ice roll across her as the new contacts appeared. The enemy had not been fooled, and now they'd have to improvise. She glanced over to the sensor display and sighed, "Whats the status of the evacuation?" "Ten percent of personnel are away commodore." "Very well," Athien replied as she felt the cold calculating minds of the enemy plot. She hoped they'd hurry, the enemy were nearly in firing range. * * * Lieutenant Thompson ran down the corridors of the base, her blaster out and in her hand. She was the one of the few survivors of the Raporan assault against the UDA and commando forces. Behind her the battered remnants of her forces trudged up the halls and into the hidden chamber reserved for their escape. The aging YT-2000 that sat there would be their tickect out of their and their only chance at survival. They hurried on and blasted up into the sky without a second glance. * * * Han Solo clambered into the cockpit of his aging frieghter and gave a quick glance of the instruments, "Alright honey, we'll be off in a minute, the techies forgot to refuel her." "Sith," Leia spat as she turned and slipped past Kyle Katarn and headed back to the ramp. She'd get the tanks full, and in record time to. As she went Han touched his base wide comm. * * * Ulan Shai raced back through the halls, his lightsaber humming. Behind him soldiers sped along. Sometimes pausing to fire back where they'd come. Suddenly the comm system klicked on and Han's voice filled the base, "Attention, all troops are to head for their assigned transports immediately. You have fice minutes." Ulan glanced at the soldiers, "You heard him, move!" As he gestured with his saber Ulan thought back and tried to recall where the Falcon was berthed. It had been where he'd been planning to ride out. * * * Kyp heard the announcement as he backed down the corridor, his saber deflecting the blasts directed toward him. He kept fighting and slowly backed down the corridor, toward the Falcon. * * * Admiral Hirotek glanced at the consoles and readouts, "All stations ready weapons target their..." Suddenly an enormous new contact appeared in the system, a Raporan Vareme Class Super Cruiser with a large number of support ships. Immediately Hirotek new the tables had turned, "All ships withdraw to Epsilon Base." After a few moments the ships disappeared back into hyperspace. It had been a close call, seperating the Vagaari from their masters would be more difficult then he'd thought. OOC: Hirotek has been transfered to the subplot "Breaking the Vagaari"

BS, I believe that once we pull our characters clear of the Ord Mantell quagmire the RPG may go through a spawn cycle (A bunch of sideplots instead of one main plot that is constantly being bogged down.) I'll restart the Vaathkree affair once that occurs as well... So, everything not currently involved with the battle for Ord Mantell and the distraction over Adumar will cease for now. Hirotek and Athien will get a spin off...

Ha, thats really funny considering what their planning to use to propell the mars express mission. An impulse drive aka radiation drive which emits radioactive particles for thrust!!! Actually there are some other speed limits in space... Relativity = You can not exceed or reach the speed of light! Photon Pressure = Though there may not be air resistance, there is resistance to propulsion in space, however it only begins to come into play at extremely high velocities.

The War of the Worlds: H.G. Wells could be arguably considered the father of modern Science Fiction. Now, for the third time his classic work The War of the Worlds has become a feature film and has remained stunningly consistent with the original novel. Steven Spielberg has displayed his genius once again in the film. The story keeps the audience gripped and forces them to believe the grim reality the film displays. Tom Cruise performs admirably as do his two child co-stars: Dakota Fanning, and Justin Chatwin. By creating an already battered family and tossing them directly into the line of fire Steven Spielberg has created an emotional connection for the audience, a connection lacking in the original novel. This connection makes the film have an exceptionally strong impact, strong enough to give children nightmares and adults the shivers without having to resort to graphic violence. Using stunning CGI images tied in with stunning performances and unique camera angles has made the film one to stand out. Unlike in many films which utilize CGI, the War of the Worlds manages to make even the most difficult to believe that the objects are part of the world. This seamless integration of reality and image surpasses the work performed by ILM even in the most recent Star Wars films. In many ways this film is truly the one to beat this year. The film remains true to the descriptions of the aliens and their habit displayed in the book and has created a compelling storyline which fits snuggly within the mold of the original’s intent. The stories narrative introduction and epilogue are in fact quoted straight from the novel with only a minor change of switching the centuries. The Aliens: The Aliens which invade earth (Originally conceived of as Martians) do so in the hope of more then simple extermination. Their goal is the terra forming and culling of the world. Their machines and they themselves rely on humans as a source of food to fuel their invasion. They remove nutrients directly from their victims and infuse them directly into their own bloodstream. Finally, they spread a red fungus across the world which spreads over and destroys everything in its path. The alien technology is apparently cybernetic utilizing both biological and technological components. This is one of the reasons that the aliens prove to be vulnerable. In the original novel the aliens manufactured their own equipment and weaponry in a single night on earth, but in the film the source of the alien equipment is much more unclear. It’s suggested that the aliens buried their own equipment on earth long before the invasion (Millennia before hand). However after watching the film I have an alternate possibility. The machines are manufactured within a few moments by nanites delivered to earth through “lightningâ€

Nope: Mostly German Meserschirmits were their primary equipment. Now Rumania made their own planes, but not Slovakia.
-
Well the Slovaks don't have their own planes, they use imported models... I'm waiting for the next addon to expand the collection of aircraft even further.
-
Um... thats not from EAW, thats part of the Galactic Battlegrounds header.

Right now Ubisoft is the the group to beat when it comes to flight simulators. Heck I've got a whole bunch of those (Janes, AOE, AOP, and Red Baron II to name a few) and Ubisoft's IL2, IL2: Forgotten Battles, Pacific Fighters, and IL2: Forgotten Battles Aces Expansion Pack are always my first choice for flight sims right now. Pacific Fighters is unique in that you can install the game as either a stand alone or as an addon to IL2: Forgotten Battles meaning that as player you can fly in just about every theater of operations, from France to Moscow, and over Japan. It also enables you to fly as a wide variety of different nations Briton, France, Romania, Slovakia, Germany, Russia, Australia, America, and Japan. God, I love that game...

EAW Competition - The Triple "M" Project

Hmm... EvilleJedi of the Warlords mod will have a field day if we can get him on the case!!! Hello Allegiance Class, Imperial III, Eclipse Class, Dominator, Vengeance, and Republic class Starships... Cain, it seems we're going to have to PM him some of this and see if he jumps for it. -
Puck up Mad, I think we should start another never ending RPG... Hey Jahled, whats the cat up to now?

What would you want from a Starfighter simulation?
Stellar_Magic replied to Stellar_Magic's topic in General Discussion
I hear you man, a sure sign of a bad AI design is when the computer has to give help to the ai, extra facilities, resources...etc. I like your wants but some of the stuff will be much more difficult then others. At the very least I could make it so that if a shot gets within 50m of a craft the fighter will jink (If its experienced...). The programming tools I'm using support a maximum of about 65,000 3d objects in the game at any one time. If I make it so that each unit has about 100 objects glued together (seperate objects for different parts so that each part has a seperate collision box for realistic gameplay) the game should be able to support 600 combat units and 5,000 weapons effects at the same time... awesome! It'll also probably kill most computers at those numbers... Well, its an idea, I just think torpedoing a Nebulon B1 Frigate and watching it break in half would be cool... -
I shouldn't say it...No, I can't hold it back... ZOOT!!!

I loved the film and have read the books. Unfortunately you have to have something of a taste for british humor at some points. It reminded me a lot of monty python... -

Hey, you've got to have goals and sometimes even those huge goals are reachable. Hell I've written a novel, modded a realism mod for BF1942 (In a week!), a "realism" mod for Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast, modified Operation Flashpoint (you need to understand some C++ to do this), modified RTW to a more historic and grand mode, and have made a canon modification on my machine for both X-wing Alliance and Bridge Commander. I'm also starting at the basics and working my way up. I'm 10% done with a 3d version of the classic game asteroids (Considering I've only had the program for a couple days thats good work and surprisingly easy), and I'll be moving on from there. I might get a working and complete game engine in six months to a year or more (Depending on how much time I can allot to this project, I'm awful busy.) Once I've got a working game engine getting a functioning game will be relatively easy. -
Imperator was the original name for the Imperial Class until they realized that Imperator wasn't a word... (Actually it is a word, in Latin!) The Victory class was the star destroyer design directly proceeding the production of the Imperial Class. It's slightly smaller, capable of atmospheric flight, and well armed.

Actually I was thinking about having a Dynamic campaign more along the lines of Red Baron II and Il2 in which you fly thousands of missions in a campaign which are all generated by the computer itself. Anyhow don't be looking for a download just quite yet, I'm learning how to work with this program as we speak. -
What are people's 5 ESSENTIAL wants for Reb2?
Stellar_Magic replied to Chimera's topic in Rebellion 2 Ideas
Alert levels wouldn't be a bad idea, but you'd have to have a logical reason for habing them in game. Say red, or Battle Alert, makes its ships eat up an exponentially larger amount of supplies and maintenence. That give you a cost for always being at an alert state and ready for the enemy, it would also allow you to drop in on an unsuspecting foes and destroy them in a suprise attack. -

I was thinking more along the lines of a system where your wingmates not only have a more advanced AI but a system of traits, be they good or bad. You could set it up so pilot X has the nasty habit of being Impetuous in combat (Charging straight at the enemy no matter what) or of being timid in that he/she doesn't enage the enemy unless ordered to. What would be really good is if we could make it so that the AI acted in wingpairs like they do in IL2 Forgotten Battles. One guy leads and the other covers. All of those things would be great, I just have to think about how to impliment them.
