  1. I think the value equation is more about survivability, very little power was left over for shielding. The chance to lose the ship in a large battle was very high.

  3. Rome is good, haven't had a chance to see heros yet, but I can't stand 24, the plot is so absurd and ridiculous (the first season I did watch though)

  5. one of the ideas EmakeP suggested was to make research only dependent on the eras, so you research dark empire technology from rotj for example this greatly simplifies research and makes a progression of the ships that are available you would still be able to choose the era you want as the starting era or limit it to ships for just that era given that what is a good division of eras? old republic (kotor era ships from comics and from the games) clone wars (EPI - EP3 ships) A New Hope (some of the older ships plus all of the basic trilogy craft) Empire Strikes Back (primarily a tech advance for the empire, ISD II, executor, new ties) Return of the Jedi (this would include ships like the mon remonda and mc80a, dominator destroyer) Dark Empire (lots of new ships here) New Jedi order (the vong would have an independant research tree based on the power level of the ships) Legacy (eventually)
  6. you should be able to access the warlords staff area now, can post all inquiries there. I will be moving some tools and links out on the staff area in the next few days along with some instructions, I'm still trying to get my hodders up to speed so once they are there then the real work can begin.
  7. you can reduce the increase the size that other ships see it as and it uses for movement, however the actual extents cannot be reduced unless you want to have explosions from weapon effects hidden in the hull (ugh)
  8. collision distance is simply determined by a bounding box around the ships that is the size of the ships extents in each direction (so an isd is a box 1600m x 900m x 500m) unfortunately homeworld 2 does not allow for physical collision meshes that are other shapes than boxes

  13. the problem is that the struture of the game files is explicit, you;d have to write a script to extract them to heiracal directories and then rexport them to the proper places later
  14. do we have svn? wouldn't be a problem to do it, each file is in its own directory essentially anyway

I will be starting a large project at work that will occupy most of my time This means that for at least the next 3-4 months I will be unable to work on the mod I am looking for a few people that are capable of editing code to clean up the mod, things like the unit descriptions, unit and weapon stats, work on other parts of the mod that are not complete (maps, gametypes, vong) and possibly complete the conversions from 0.45 units into the new weapons format (this will require usage of maya) tools will be provided and I will have the staff board open to anyone that joins what I would like to do is reintroduce eras and all of the units that were in 0.45, I will still update models, but a lot of the conversion work is script editing and tweaking I will be pushing to complete my commitments to the IA2 team so I will probably be able to do most of the CW ships before I run out of time(as well as the quick and dirty kotor mod because that is simple) if I don't get anyone then the mod is pretty much frozen, I doubt I will have a lot of initiative to pick it up again (partly because I have another project I want to work on, see secret project #1).

  18. if It were possible I would do it in a second, unfortunately the target list cannot be dynamic, it is fixed in the ship data
  19. try redowloading the files, sounds like something is corrupted, check to make sure the file size is the same as it is reported on the website (or at least within a few kb because of the file system on the webserver) worst comes to worst we can check md5s
  20. If I spent a little bit of time making a stand along kotor era mod would anyone play it? it would be pretty much sith vs republic with the mandos on the sith side I love the era and the ships in the new kotor comics are nice

  24. the hiig and vaygr ships are not scripted to work with the SW ships so I remved them (it would be a lot of extra effort that would take away from the core mod) the ship stats were removed because no one stepped up to keep them updated for me, too much effort needed and not enough help.
  25. well venators were relatively new in the CW, VIctory II's saw limited service at the very end and would be more rounded vessels than venators I don't think it implies that victory II's were old, just that they were around and known.
