Who is your favorite Bounty Hunter?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Mad78's topic in General Discussion
I didn't say he wasn't capable. It is pretty obvious he had the skills, but look at how he "dealt" with Obi-Wan. He just assumed that his tactic worked and didn't spare any time to double-check. While I wouldn't want to run into him in even a well lit plaza surrounded by police, he was over-confident. -
Why Do We Like The Empire?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Grand_Admiral_Thrawn's topic in General Discussion
That is a point that most people ent to forget. The soldiers in the Wermacht were not Nazis. They were Germans who fought because they wanted to defend their country. The SS were Nazis. The Gustappo were Nazis, but the average German Soldat wasn't. I'm sure there were some in there that believed in the propaganda of the NSDAP, but most didn't. I tend to think that in the Empire most of the military was part of the Imperial "Nazi" party. You didn't have to be in the army or navy, it was pretty voluntary. I'm sure there were those who joined for the "romace" of being a soldier and those who were there when the Republic fell, but not all of them. I think of the Stormtroopers as the SS of the Empire. Even the name was borrowed. -
Looks great. Will it be able to fight better as well?

General Favourite quotes

Some of my favs: The ability to quote is a serviceable substitute for wit. --W. Somerset Maugham All men are brothers, like the seas throughout the world; So why do winds and waves clash so fiercely everywhere? -- Emperor Hirohito If my theory of relativity is proven succesful, Germany will claim me as German and France will declare that I am a citizen of the world. If my theory should prove to be untrue, then France will say that I am a German, and Germany will say that I am a Jew. -- Albert Einstein Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. -- Albert Einstein In order for three people to keep a secret, two must be dead. -- Ben Franklin -
You have some ISD and VSD models on your site that aren't textured. Do you have plans to texture them?

Placing two Escort Carrier and two Carrak Cruiser in a fleet in each sector you hold planets in is your best option. You load the carriers up, one with anti-figher, the other with anti-cap, and then place the fleet in the most central location. When the rebels pop up you at least have a chance to stop them, though they like to pop in, bombard, and leave.

Who's your favorite Star Wars MOVIE character?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to a topic in General Discussion
Battlefield 2: I won't buy another game from EA for a while. They've just released Battlfield Vietnam saying that they will proviede lots of support ( and they need it. The game is SOOOO laggy and haas so many bugs!) and what do they go and do? "We're comming out with ANOTHER game. We don't care about all of you who were suckered into buying that other pice of crap, we just want to make MONEY!" Sure BF 2 sounds good, I have to admit that much, but i think that there will be a lot of people who were dissapointed with thier support of the last game in that series. Battlegrounds: Looks really good, especially if you've played the SW mods for both Battlefield 1942 and UT 2004. It will be interesting to see how thye deal with the speed of blaster bolts in that game as well. They've always seemed a little slow in other games, like Jedi Outcast. I hope this isn't just a big hype. Republic Commando: Looks great, the reviews ar egreat, but I think the public is a little off as to what the game will be like. It's not really that much like the Rainbow Six series. Your follow troopers can't die, do you could pretty much let them do all the work. That said, LucasArts is pretty well known for putting out FPS games in which all of the AI guys know where you are after one shot. JO fixed that, but will they bringthat over? -
First off, you'd have to have Bush as the empire (he's got more resources). Then you couldn't engage in any hostilities until Bush creates some propaganda as to why Kerry should be destroyed. In the end though, Bush would loos even if Kerry is defeated. PPL would be smart enough to see his lies and rise up againt him.

Why Do We Like The Empire?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Grand_Admiral_Thrawn's topic in General Discussion
I don't think that Alderaan can be placed on the shoulders of the Empire. WHile yes, it was an Imperial Battlestation that destroyed it, and yes, it was manned by Imperials, in the end it was Tarkin acting on his own, without the approval of the Emperor. From the way in which we see the Emperor directing Vader in ESB and RoTJ, I find it hard to believe that he would allow a person who is essentially a politician (Moffs and Grand Moffs are not technically part of the Imperial Navy) to run rampant with so much power. That said, after Tarkins previouse exploits with a Star Destroyer on a certain Rebel leaders homeworld, you'd have to expect him to do somethin like that. P.S: Sorry about any spelling mistakes folks. I just got up not ten minutes ago -
Which is your favorite Starfighter? (corrected)
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Mad78's topic in General Discussion
It was a good book and I though it was about time they ended the series in some way. I think that the end was a little rushed, but they probably placed page restrictions on him. I've never seen a star wars book go over 600 or so pages (except for the Vision of the Future series and I,Jedi). As for Zahns prequal book, I t was alright, and it did provide answers to questions about Outbound Flight. BUt all-in-all, it seemed a little pointless. I also think that it's pretty clear that Thrawn is not back. If he was he would have been spotted in the NJO series, unless he was hiding somewhere. he couldn't have been in Chiss space as, even though he would be a clone, he is exiled. -
Multi-player?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Grand_Admiral_Thrawn's topic in Warlords (Homeworld 2)
I suggest we establish a time and date within the next few days that members of the forum who are interested can participate ina battle. Who knows, we may even be able to tie this in to the RPG? Post here if you are interested. -
Is it worth all the maintenance points to build a Death Star
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to TheViking's question in Questions from Newbies
Actually, you can. As long as you have all of the victory requirements, you win. Your victory is either inevitable, or the game goes on forever... -
Why Do We Like The Empire?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Grand_Admiral_Thrawn's topic in General Discussion
So basically, people are more likely to place doing what they want over any moral delimas. I know that we aren't actually doing any of the aatrocities that the Empire did, but there is still the moral aspect, or at least there should be. -
For most of my cards I didn't create new stats unless it was a completely new character/ship/regiment type. Actually, some of my cards may have setting from when I liked to build massive fleets and throw them at the rebels.

Does anyone here play the mod online? I was in the Gamespy lobby for HW2 and couldn't find even one opponent to play. Worse yet, most of them didn't even know about the mod, or where to get it! (I guess some people don't read PC Gamer) So is there anyone here who plays, or is willing to play, online. It would be great to get a 2v2 or 3v3 Rebs vs Imps game going.

I started pondering this last night, but couldn't come up with any concrete answers. Most fans of the SW moves/games/whatever love the Empire, but there are lots of reasons we shouldn't. They were tyranical, oppressive, xenophobic, and just plane bad. Despite this, we love them! I've only met a handful of people who prefer the rebels over the Empire, and of those few, an even smaller number like the rebels for who thay are, not because they've got Luke Skywalker. This isn't the only time that a large number of people like the badguys. In almost every WWII game, players prefer to play as the Germans rather than the Allies. And, if you look at all of the similarities between Pre-WWII Germany and the rise and fall of the Empire, it makes one wonder. So I guess my question to you all is, why do movie goers and history buffs and gamers like the dark side better than the light?

I'll send it to you if I can. I'm only using a Hotmail account at the momen. I've never much trusted outlook express and didn't really care enough to find another program. I'll see what I can do.

You need to create a second shortcut on your desktop or in your start menue that links to Homeworld 2. Right-click on the new shotrcut and in the "Target" field, at the end of what is already there type" -mod HW2SW_WARLORDS_BETA_V0.29_TEST.Big -luatrace", then click apply. The text in bold is the name of the file you extracted. That's what it is named on my computer, but yours may be differend to make sure to check that. After that, use the newly made shortcut to start the game. To test it, click "Player vs CPU". There will be a drop-down box under the "More Options" button. You click this and select the Warlords mod v0.29. As the versions on the mod are updated you only need to change the bold text above to match whatever new file you've added. Hope this helps

THough they have speed and quite a punch at the start, they don't have the ability to carry fighters. You can probably overwhelm them with lots of TIE FIghters or Bombers.

Any NJO books that were hard-cover (except forthe very early ones) are not out in soft as of yet. You'll have to wait a year before they come out in soft. -

Beaten and pushed until they occupy only one planet that is sentient, and is actually thier homeplanet that traveled to the SW galaxy from the Vong's home galaxy and stripped the Vong of thier ability to use the force. But I guess the Vong still hold all of thier planets... so they might fight back. -
I first tried using the .exe but for some reason it was worse than the .zip with my problem. maybe if you can get your hands on the .zip it will fix your problem?
