Must just be in Wester europe because I've not heard of this group (though they remain nameless here).

That's true, it is hard to find them. But what if your opponent DOES find them and attacks with overwhelming force? It takes a lot of time to move reenforcements from the core to the rim.

If you don't want to create that, lookat the Cult of Piett. That's a fan club that scares me a little. http://www.piett.org/cult/ -

SSDs are good to have in battle, but the inherant risk of using it is two fold: First, if you loose it your troops will be greatly demoralized. If the enemy can take that down, what about hte little ships that everyone else is on? Second, if she goes belly-up, you've just spent a lot of credits to throw a ship into battle. I think the reason they are so heavily armed and armored is incase you need to make a fighting retreat. And remember, when they were designed the Empire had thousands of ISDs to support one. I knew I remembered reading about and Imperial SSD in one of the NJO novels, but it was never named or mentioned again. It was in the book where Luke and Mara first embark on their mission to find Sekot. As Trej mentioned above it was orbiting the planet where Pallaeon had his garden. It may have been Bastion, but as it was not in any of the battles afterwards, I think it is safe to assume that it is still intact. I think that the Remnant has more than 1200 ships. Perhaps 1200 ISDs but you need to think about the other support craft. Carrak Cruisers, Lancer Frigates, Strike Cruisers, Escort Carriers, even VSDs. Even if they had 1200 ISDs and a plethora of the other craft above, they haveto defend each system under thier controll. The above wouldn't be very much. That all said, just because the Remnant agreed to help the GFFA doesn't mean that they used all of the resources they had available. A smart commander would hold enough of thier troops back to defend themselves from any further threats, even the GFFA. In the end, I think that our speculation is pointless really (I know, Icould have saved time and said this first) as there is no way to know the strenght of either force. Heck, we don't even have a way to know the strenght of an ISD vs an Mc 80. And we won't know who the new foe is until they release the first book. -
The only problems that LA could give you is if you want to charge for it at some point. That would be copyright infringement. The only way you could do this is if it were free, even after it is finished.

They hate machines because they think that is mocks life, which was created by Yun-Yuuzahn tearing his own flesh to create the universe. So it is basically that it dishonours their gods.

It couldn't be Earth for one reason: it all happens in a Galaxy Far, Far away. I think that humans probably originated in the Corellian or Coruscant sectors, as those seem to be the most common places to find humans. From there they spread and, as stated above, sort of took over and formed diverse new cultures.

I find that placing resources in the outerrim counter-productiv. I focus on holdign the core world and scouting the outerrim for Rebel bases. Once I fin thier base, I destroy it and focus on the capture of rebel agents required to win the game.

Thoughts on Capital ship Class, where are the BBs
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Destraex's topic in Warlords (Homeworld 2)
They do have something bigger, but the resources for an SSD are also 1000x more than that of an ISD II. Aslo, you can't compare ships based on the over-all size of them. Bigger does not always mean better. As for mon-cals, they were always heavily sheilded, but weren't armed in the same proportions as ISD IIs. ISDs also have greater hull plaiting than Mon-Cals. There is also no place that says ISDs were common. They weren't used for system patrol, that's what Carrak Cruisers and Lancer Frigates do. Only fleets existed that were accompanied with ISDs or ISD IIs. As for Bastion, you have to remember that the Vong had superior numbers and were capable of removing the shields from any ship. If you want to get what are generally agreed to be accurate stats for ships, play XWA. I didn't see any Mon-Cals there that could go head-to-head with an ISD, let alone and ISD II. As I said before, there are ships that could out-gun and ISD or ISD II, times change and the tech will evolve too, but I think that the role of the ISD is as a battleship, not a glorified destroyer. -
That might work for the initial Betas, but with the work that the people above would be putting into it, I think that having it free would diminish it a little. Paying for their masterpiece would be better in the end.

The discrimination is better, but we really don't get an idea of how the average citizen lives. Their may still be oppression there. -

I'm not sure where you are getting your information, but I've got a feeling that the Remnant has more than just eight systems. That would indicate that they lost a significant number in the war with the Vong. I'm also sure that there were some systems that were moved under the Remnant after the war was over. As for their ship building abilities, the New Republic was seriously short near the end of the war. Had they been required to fight the Vong head-on in one final battle, they would have been har-pressed to win. At the same time, the Remnant was well defended. At one point in the NJO series there was even mention of and SSD in orbit around Bastion, though nothing ever came of that. I'm sure that they have more than 8 ISDs in thier fleet. AND if the new series if five years after the end of the Vong war, the Imperials would be almost on par with the GFFA for production capabilities. All of thier shipyards were kept in-tact while the GFFA would have to build more, or be stuck with just the ones at Mon Calamari. In the end I think this may be a pointless direction. I doubt very much that they will bring the Empire back as the primary foe. More likely it will play a more pivitol role in assisting the GFFA. -
Yeah, but the outer rim systems aren't that important to hold. I just hit them and slowly take them. Take your time, there isn't a restriction on that

Remeber that while the Remnant took some hits during the war the New Republic took the brunt of it. It wasn't until the end of the war that the Empire was attacked. If you ask me they are in a pretty good position to take on the GFFA. There may even be some more hidden Imperial ships in the Deep-Core that they could pull out. But if it goes back to the "Rebels vs. Empire" stuff, it might get boring. I think that Ben may become the focus of some of the stories. Remeber that Anakin was the central figure of some of the novels, as were the twins. -
I've no doubts that the community will be 100% behind this. With the diverse skills that are available here, it should be realative easy to find willing participators.

Who's your favorite Star Wars MOVIE character?

I'm not sure that Battlegrounds will have fighters in it. After all, X-Wings are pretty much space-only craft, not very good for atmospheric fightering, where TIEs can be modified. And there will be no AT-ATs in the game. Think of how massive they would have ot be. Not too many maps could support a unit of that size. -

Rupture point? that must be one of the prequel books. -
I think they're sort of a Klingon rip-off. Pain as a god? I wasn'treally impressed. They're also tactically inferior. They rely too heavily on overwhelming numbers. And their hate of tech and thier refusal to learn about it was stupid. You must learn about your enemy and their abilities before you can defeat them.

Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Destraex's topic in Warlords (Homeworld 2)
I think you're slightly mistaken. If you concider the way ISDs are regarded in the post-Empire books, you see that they are still thought of as the greatest weapon the Empire had, capable of taking out even the greatest of the Mon Cals in the Emperor's days. Even the Home One would be hard pressed to handle a single ISD II. Surethey were common, but that means little as to their strenght. As for the Dark Empire referrence, while it does take place in the SW universe and aye, even the novels refer to it, such source are not quite dependable for ship and tech stats. The ISD is far more than a destroyer, it is a battleship. The fact that the word destroyer is in it's name is not a reference to its capabilities. Is the TIE Defender restricted to a defensive role because it's called a defender? I don't want to dictate to you what you do with your mod because I've no skill with that, and I'm sure that more ships of greater size would be welcome, but your interpretation of the ships in the SW universe is, in my opinion, off a little. Concider the weight placed on the ISDs in Rebellion, X-Wing Allince, the XvT games. I don't think there are intermediary ships between ISDs and the super-cap class, at least none that are officially recognized. -
Multiplayer would be better if one could team-up, two people playing one faction.

I got the impression that the threat the Chiss, and Thrawn in particular, were preparing the New Republic for was the Vong, I doubt that even the CHiss could have fought off two enemies at once. I would simply like to get more of a look at what Thrawn is like as a person. You really didn't get to the the "real" him in the books. -
The topic of Rebellion 2 has been going on since even the old forums and we really didn't get anywhere back then. I doubt that, with the poor results of Rebellion, LucasArts would be willing to officially do another, and the pains one would have to go through to create the game on thier own only to put it up for free would not be worth it. Good to see you JI. MY NEMESIS HAS RETURNED!

Aye, it is somewhat off topic and belongs in the outside interest forum, if there. This tends to be a touchy topic for most people, with each stalwartly supporting thier own beliefs. So what was this thread about again?

LucasArts has been pretty good lately with thier games. I've every confidence that they will not dissapoint. Just as long as it is better than the afore-mentioned mods.
