  1. I'd look for the nearest Naval Officer's Recruitment office. With teknology like that, who wouldn't? As for how they'd deal with the problems on this planet, they'd all stop. The oppression of the Empire would unite every one. Pluss, any of the trouble makers wo try to keep going would be crushed without pause or mercy. In the end we'd all be better off. United under a single government, all the problems created by nationalism would be gone, organized religion would be crushed, or suppressed, so that there would be no conflicts (we all know that that is the leading cause of conflict in the world). Sure we'd have to deal with reduced liberties and what not, but, depending on where you live, you already are.
  2. The cloaking model at Mount Tantis must have been a different design than that used on the Phantom. What use would a cloaking device do on a fighter if the pilot is blinded?
  3. The USA did qite a lot during that period, which is why a lot of people don't like them. I know I'm not an American, but this is my two cents. They need to elect someone who will stop what he is doing and say "Let's look at the problems we have inside our boarders before we go and meddle in other countries". There are lots of situations that need the military muscle of the US, and we should all be thankful that they ar ethere when they are needed, but they've taken it upon themselves one too many times to do what is "right" (better put, what works for them, who gives a damn about every one else), and have subsequently pissed a lot of people off. From the perspective of an outsider, you need a government that works with the UN on ALL things. We should be working towards the unification of countries around the world, not unilateral action. If we were to abolish countries all together ther ewould be a more equal sharing of the world's resources, increased safety, and fewer conflicts (no nationalism, no wars). The current administrations doesn't allow for that. Some one has already said taht it's not Bush, but the people behind him you should want out. I agree completely. Bush really isn't a bad guy, but when his handlers (and that's exactly what they are) don't tell him everything, or lie to him, he can't do his job. Again, just my two cents.
  4. That is possible, but he does say cloaking device. WHo knows, there are lots of contradictory statements in the movies that make it very difficult for fans to figure out what the hell is the truth.
  5. Politics is a very touchy subject, especially when it comes to American Politics. In general it is best to leave this subject alone, or restrict it to a place that is public, but not too public (like a chat room or PM).
  6. Yes, but remember that the Empire did have access to cloaking devices because of what was stored in Mount Tantis. However, you would have to be privy to that information (like the captain of a Star Destroyer in Death Squadron) to know about it. What needa says directly contradicts anything in the TPM novels. "No ship that size could have a cloaking device". You could take it that no ship that big could have a cloaking device, butsince the Falcon isn't that big, you must assume he meant no ship that small could have a cloading device.
  7. Interesting, though I think that if one were to travel at lighspeed, the universe would appear to slow and, if you were to sufficiently exceed the speed of light, stop.
  8. You would have to travel at the speed of light to escape the event horizon of a black hole. but there would be no way to escape the surface of one since you would exist as atoms, if that.
  9. There is, however, something else to consider. Thrawn didn't actually wear epaulets. That uniform was created by the designers of TIE Fighter (the game). Other distinctions with ISB officers that distinguish them from Grand Admirals it hte black hat, the rank insignia, and I believe that they wear black pants, rather than white.
  10. Stealth, no cloaking. Except for the Thrawn trillogy, ther eare no cloaking devices in Star Wars. I think it is more of a glorified shuttle, since it too big to be a fighter.
  11. If you want it to look good, there is a lot of work to put into. There really isn't much point in making one unless you have a lot to offer.
  12. You would be torn apart, then compressed. Hawking also theorized that if you were able to reach the "surface" of a black hole, you could manipulate time, because the dimensions are seaparated there.
  13. OOC: I've a hard enough time actually using intelligence, so forget RPing it
  14. But that doesn't mean he can't replace the x1 with it. If he's going to be changing the Battle of Yavin around and adding more CG fighters, anything is possible. I suggest we let this topic rest for a while. I'd value the input of Fishy, Darkie, Mad..ie and others who aren't here right now. Oh, and Trejie too.
  15. The Sith Infiltraitor was cool looking, but we really don't know what it's capabilities are. We don't even know if it had shields. It can't have been too good in any case, because it dissapeared in the later movies (unless GL plans on replacing Vader's x1 with the infiltraitor)
  16. Any TIE model from the Interceptor on wasn't too bad, but the standard TIE Fighter was terrible.
  17. I'm sure nukes would damage the shields, but I'm not so surethey would even take them out. maybe on a starship, but planetary shileds could withstand even a nuke.
  18. OOC: I was apparently promoted two pages back to Admiral... can't remember who did it though. I'm also on the Vengeance now. Not sure who's in command of the Judicator, I think Dorja took command or something...
  19. In the lates SW Insider mag there is a question about the destruction of the second Death Star. If you were to follow real-world laws of physics etc., all of th eewoks would have been killed and Endor would have been in a nuclear winter.
  20. Actually, a Jedi could stop a whole barrage of shells, at least a good one could. Only a padawan would have trouble stopping a bunch of little metal canisters. And if they were rigged to explode once they've left free fall, then they'd explode well above the Jedi. Where's the armor!? Plastoid armor for stormtroopers and other soldiers (can stop blasters for a while, so it'll have no problem with piddly bullets), Durasteel armor on the capitol ships (defends agains some types of radiation, can withstand the energy of turbolasers), personal defence shields and deflector shields (bullets, shells, missiles would pose no threat at all to these). The only way to fight in the SW universe is with thier tech because ours is simply too ancient in comparison. Even an assault rifle would do little to a jedi, except make him break a sweat. Either he would stop the bullets with the force, or he could vapoize them on his lightsaber. Remeber, they can have astando off with rappid-firing battle droids. You'd have to use something non-physical to fight a jedi with, or blow him up. The flame thrower is a good idea, so is the radiation. but conventional weapons aren't woth the metal they're made of.
  21. I don't like thier management. They greedy. I don't like that... and they put the little guy out of business... and, um... their name sounds funny. Yeah! Funny sounding companies don't deserve my respect...actually I forgot about them...
  22. I don't like Sienar, and incom makes stuff forthe rebels. The Imperials fased out using that company during the war.
  23. The reason that energy weapons are used is because standard weapons do nothing agains the armor etc. of the SW universe. And a jedi vs. an artillery barrage? The jedi would win. he simply uses the force to stop the shells. That's why energy weapons are used. A Jedi using a sword? Sure he can't be in two places at once, but he can move fast enough to convince you, and whatever weapon you're using, that he can be.
  24. An opinion I share. It is an attempt to applyreal-world laws to the SW universe. That can (and must) be done the ST universe, but no SW.
  25. Use this thread to let people know when yo uare playing... Edit: Ok, I played one game against the leader of the Black Fleet. I got owned (don't usually play with research on). We then played a second game against some comps. Let me say this: If I'd been playing him again, I'd have been doubly owned. I need to stop playing RPGs and work on my RTS. I think that [sPAM] should unite and engage the Black Fleet head on!
