If you'll stay below 10000 polys for the models then nobody should have problems with them. The 8 bit seems something we're stuck with, vakundok has researched the most in that field, but without the game's sourcecode we just can't add new things like a bigger color palette, for example. 256 colors (minus those 'invisible' ones for the planets) might not look like much, but so far it has worked out alright.

The Mask looked at the severed hand and then at the rabbit, still wondering how such a creature could exist outside of a Monty Python movie... After the rabbit was unconcious, he turned to watch his fellows.
