  1. Insignia, ehh? Tell us (or at least me...maybe via e-mail) is it Imperial or Rebel...or something else completely? If you don't want anyone else knowing, at least e-mail me since I am the insignia guy...please....
  2. Well, I wrote that because I assumed (which I shouldn't have) that people would think I was referring to the seperation between State and Church. Further more, I thought many of our American members would get angry at me (in other forums I got death threats for not agreeing with many of the U.S.'s policies).
  3. Interesting who I predicted you would be the one to know this information (thus my saying learnèd, which was a reference to you). Thank you, again, Scath! So, would it be improper for me in my story to interchange ae for æ in only proper nouns and such, or is it one of those things that if I use it for one I should use it for all? Same question applies to œ....
  4. Interesting.... Well, if æ is meant as 'a', then why has it been used for such things as Caesar in place of the ae (as well as many others words to replace ae)? Same for œ. I mean, could it be used in place of ae in modern words? Instead of Praetorian, have Prætorian, and instead of Caesar, have Cæsar?
  5. Well, I kind of meant it as a joke, but hey, it'd be cool to see!
  6. Today, Sunday, July 6, 2003, I--like every other Sunday--attended church expecting to get my dose of the gospel and a dearly needed message, but instead I found the entire service riddled with talks of patriotism and praises to, not God and Jesus Christ, but to the United States of America. Instead of a sermon, we recieved a class on the Declaration of Independence and its signers. We were further asked to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the service in place of the morning prayer, as well as having to sing the Star-Spangled Banner (The U.S.'s national hymn) among other pro-U.S. songs ("O Beautiful for Spacious Skies", "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory", and "My Country Tis of Thee"). I mean, it's nice to see know that two days ago was July the fourth, America's day of independence, but I feel it an outrage to bring such things into church in place of what should have been the message that the Bible teaches. I was further outraged that over the past week people have discrimited against me and others who think like I do, simply because we did not attend the fireworks display celebrating this particular day. Further more, I feel that with actions like these, those who believe in a more internationalist outlook are being forced into utter silence for fear of pro-Ameircans who will go to any lengths to impose their opinion upon others. Then came the worst part of the service, where the chaplain went into a storm of saying that those who do not support war are evil and God will punish them. He said that supporting troops but not supporting war is an oxy-moron and those who believe such are not true Americans. He then gave a "great" finale saying that God supports the U.S. and always shall, and those who stand up against this nation shall be smited by the Almighty. Granted, he is a major in the U.S. Army and loves the U.S. dearly, but this in no way excuses much less allows him to impose his opinion on others. I almost stood up and left, but for the sake of my other and sister (I did not want to embarass them), I remained in my seat...silent. First off, I do know quite well that this is a controversial topic, but I do not care, it's a topic that cannout be ignored. I, in no way, mean to bring up the topic of the seperation between church and state (this entire topic has nothing to do with that), but instead is about the imposition of an opinion not held by all by Americans on others. Take France and Germany, for example: They did not support the U.S. so now they are considered "evil". If you do not understand my point to this thread...well...nevermind, then.
  7. Well, maybe ::twitch:: but so? ::twitch, twitch:: I agree, but as long as we don't know, we can alwasy discuss it, gathering information from different sources.
  8. Let's just say that through private observations and information from friends in the Navy, for promotion--the majority of the time--it's who you know...not what you know. This is quite evident in the fact that I know of a Naval liutenenant who was passed over the next rank of lieutenant commander even though he worked the longest hours out of anyone in his office, completed everyone of the requirements for both lieutenant commander and commander, and was the only man of his rank to have a doctorate degree....
  9. Don't worry I won't...hey! That guy has only a goatee, just like I do now!
  10. Quite so, quite so indeed.
  11. Yeah, it's Trej all the way: the arrogance, the placing of self on a high pedestial. Any how, I still say warmaster.
  12. Yes, that does help, but my only question is: When would they be used? Would/could this one (æ) be used in place of ae, and this one (œ) be used in place of oe? I mean, how are they used?
  13. Of course, unless you desire some form of Imperial or Rebel insignia....
  14. Hey, I got a few questions for our learnèd members. I was wondering, in what instances is æ and Æ used? I have seemed it used for Cæsar, Ægypt, and Prætorian, but all of those are used when the context is Latin. So, my question is, when does one use it? I mean, is it simply a replacement for ae that is no longer truly used? Additionally, I ask the same for œ and Œ. I have also seen it used in replacement of oe, but only when the context is Latin. The evidence I have for this is from The Odyssey. You see, I have two versions, the translation from Greek (Odysseus) and the translation from Latin (Ulysses) and names in the Greek one with ae are simply spelled out with ae, where as the in Latin one they are æ. Lastly, would these be used in all instances, or only in proper nouns (etc) or what? Please help and, ahead of time, thanks!
  15. Excellent...excellent, indeed.
  16. By what I have heard from the tapes James--err, Jahled sent me, he is indeed quite good and shall be dearly missed. RIP
  17. I say warmaster because overlord and supreme overlord would sound far too arrogant and would be placing yourself on too high of a pedestial. As far as insignia, I can't help you out much in that department like I did for Scath and Elvis....
  18. HAPPY DELAYED BIRTHDAY, TK!!!
  19. Yes, but I am quite particular about the anime I watch. I hate the little-kid like animes of DBZ and such, but prefer the better plotted animes. Here: -COWBOY BEBOP -Mobile Suit GUNDAM -Mobile Suit GUNDAM: The 08th MS Team -Mobile Suit GUNDAM 0080: War in the Pocket -Mobile Suit Zeta GUNDAM To just name a few.
  20. I hated the way Lucas hinted at a Biblical-like birth to Anakin. It really destroyed things, but then again, this is Lucas we're talking about, the man who created STAR WARS and should, now, do as he did in TESB and ROTJ: sit back, shut up, and produce...nothing more. The way I see it: Shmi was either raped by a some-what force senesitive person and she maybe being some-what force-sensitive (not the point of notability) created a completely force-sensistive offspring (maybe raped by a master of hers). Or the galndry scenario, she got wasted and accidentally got in bed with a Jedi...or something like that. Maybe Dooku is Anakin's father. Oh, if Lucas makes Palpatine Anakin's father, I shall amass all of you and lead us all to Skywalker Ranch in a riot.... Anyone concur?...
  21. I think EPIII's title shall be "Fall of the Republic", a name I have heard thrown around for quite some time.
  22. A Noghri for the same reasons Andy gave, though you can't, sadly, cuddle with one like you can with a Wookie. Being the Grand Imperator of BEAK, I have to comment. Antilliles, what does "Who would you trust you're life with" mean? I literally means: who would you trsut you are life with. What does that mean? Carefully with grammar and spelling in the future, Antilliles, or esle we shall have many more runs-in like this in the future.
  23. Indeed! You see, unlike the Army, we didn't take off our masks while inside the chamber...except for Brian. You see, because he threw up they made him take it off. And I tell you what, I have never seen more snot, spit, tears, and disgested food come out of anyone in my entire life!
  24. Quite good, indeed, Trej! The next edition should include: "Where an admiral spams and doesn't get in too much trouble (Antilliles)? And people disappear off the face of the earth (Untimely Demise)?" Well, maybe it's getting old.
  25. Lemonade Tycoon? What the hell is that all about?
