  1. Oh well, that's just bmp editing. Dunno how, never done it before. Would suggest to copy the ship pic into a blue background (the one for transparency) and scatter your explosions or whatever around it, then delete the ship pic so that you only have the blue background with the explosions. You could copy/paste flares from other ship pics or work them up yourself.
  2. Pucho: That's it. Vakundok: And how come the planets show strange things in strategy? Do they use the same palette as in tactical (would be the logical conclusion)? Could you work up a palette to use for the planets, maybe distribute it with some version of your texture converter? Would be really great because then we could start working on the planets.
  3. Just like what I said... Let's take our Mon Cal Cruiser which is starts at 2010 (this is the most detailed model, for the view up close). 2011 is a little bit further away and less detailed. 2012 is the one for the view from a galaxy far, far away. About these GData files: Why not simply ask Coolhand or LucasArts? I know how they usually react to some requests, but this is simply about code.
  4. OK, deleted that link. Sorry. But how to get to all these sections if not through a link? I mean, even the dll section is not accessible through the main page? Or do you want to keep that away from the public until the TC is released?
  5. This is from http://www.theforce.net/swtc/warships.html Allegiance: 2,2 km Republic: 1,25 km Executor: 17,6 km Sovereign: 15,0 km Eclipse: 17,5/16,0 km Imperator: 1,6 Victory: 0,9 MC-80/MC-80a/MC-80b: 1,2 km MC-90: 1,255 km MC-40: 0,5 km Home One: 3,8 km Mediator: More than 1,6 km Viscount: at least 6,0 km
  6. It's also somewhere in the dlls. I believe it was strategy.dll, but you could look up Mask's quick reference guide just to be sure. These are actually pics with the appropriate flares (hyperspace, explosions) which have a blue background (so that it becomes transparent)..
  7. I extracted all the useful planets form the XWA .dats, but when I import them into the game (using rebed with your dll entry add-on), they show in strange colors. Maybe they use the same palette as the fighters. Blast, gotta get me paintshop pro from somewhere...
  8. Zwölf Klausuren?!? In welchen Bundesland hast du denn so viele Kurse gewählt? 10 GKs? Whui. (Sorry for the slip of tongue, but this just overwhelmed me.) Hey Mask, get this overpaid job fast. When you earned, let's say €12,95, you could buy the rights for Rebellion from LucasArts (don't say this price is ridiculous, I know it's way too high, but this game was a burner) including the source code and developing tool (wait, they made this up in QBasic, didn't they?) and we can stop fiddling with the code.
  9. Got this from theforce.net: Windcaller, Mahd this blonde-haired woman served on the Imperial Interim Ruling Council. Windcaller was the head of an extensive news agency that secretly provided intelligence to the remnants of the Empire, and led a group of female warriors who were skilled in the Echani martial arts. (CE2, HCE) CE is Crimson Empire. Norym Kim this near-human Myke was once a pirate who conquered an entire sector. He later served on the Imperial Interim Ruling Council. He was a tall, thin man with a gaunt face, and had two small horns descending from either side of his chin. He scoffed at the idea that Kir Kanos was responsible for the assassination of Nolyds. Kim ostensibly took control of the Council, although he schemed to have Xandel Carivus appointed to its leadership position as a figurehead. (CE2, HCE) Guri: When Xizor was killed over Coruscant when the Alliance destroyed his skyhook, it was believed that she perished in the explosion. However, Guri fled the planet and traveled alone for some time. During her private time, she decided to locate Massad Thrumble, hoping that the Imperial researcher could remove the programming that made her an assassin. Thrumble's work succeeded, but not before the Falleen Savan tried to recover Guri. Savan attempted to use a secret codephrase which Xizor had implanted in Guri's brain. Thrumble's reprogramming gave Guri enough information to recognize the phrase, but her new programming ignored it. Guri immobilized Savan and helped turn the Falleen over to the fledgling New Republic. Guri herself, no longer an assassin, fled Hurd's Moon and eventually met up with Dash Rendar. (SE, RD, SEE, RESB) SEE is Shadows of the Empire: Evolution.
  10. Hey vakundok! Great work on the fighters and stuff! Same goes for Mask. When can we expect some textures for MC-80b and Home One? Then there is something about the fighters: If I use larger pics (say 256*256), don't they appear larger in the game? Would be really ridiculous to have an E-Wing the size of a carrier... Happened to me with planet pics: Suddenly Corfai occupied the whole Corellia Sector alone.
  11. Pics: I have yet to see one of Teradoc, Harrsk or Delvardus. For Tierce, we could use a Royal Guardsman.
  12. If we go for the SSD's real size (which is 17+ km), the Sovereign isn't much larger. But we don't have a model in the right size. Maybe Mask can come up with one in the right scale.
  13. OK, I'll sort my ideas out into lists. Good point, I just got carried away. Rebs: Dash Rendar Guri (???) Could appear on both sides. Luke actually let her live in SotE, and she got to wondering why. So she *might* have joined the Rebels or the Empire. Far fetched, though somewhat cool in a strange way. (I do not remember any second appearance. Did she show up again after SotE?) Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors: Two seperate cards, of course. Don't remember when Jedi Knight takes place, so there might be some problems with timescale. Gaeriel Captison and Pter Thanas: By the Thrawn time, they are married. Thanas switched sides after Bakura joined the NR. Admiral Ossilege from the Corellia Trilogy could also be a possibility if we can confirm he was around at that time AND can hunt up a decent pic for him. Elscol Loro and Sixtus Quin: I know them only from the Bacta War, but they appeared in some comics too. Would take a good reason to bring them into the NR. Teneniel Djo and Isolder: I would vote against them since Hapes did not make a second appearance until the NJO, but they could be possible. Kam Solusar: (Dunno exactly) He appears later in the stuff wit the Emperor Reborn, but there might be a way to get him into the story right now. He is just a very cool character. Only if we have to fill slots. Imps: Guri: see above Thrackan Sal-Solo: Definitely one of my favourite candidates. He always had imperial tendencies. Rom Mohc: Has been some time since I played Dark Forces so I don't recall if I killed him somewhere along the line. If not, he is the troop engineer to go. Guy Sienar (wasn't he in TIE Fighter?): Saw him on plenty of cards. Jerec and Sariss: Same problems as with Kyle and Jan, but this would give the Imps two more Jedi (they don't have many). Dorja and Brandei: From the original game, but they actually appear in the books. Ars Dangor: Emperor's adviser. Maybe got away from DS II before it blew up. Mahd Windcaller: Got her card frome somewhere. Very likely to be from a comic. Norym Kym: Same as Windcaller. And he is another Grand Admiral (blast, wasn't Thrawn the last one?) These two are just fresh characters I got used to. I'll look them up in the Encyclopedia. Qui Xux: If Thrawn brought Daala back from the Maw, he probably took Qwi along. Anyway, these are just some thoughts in addition to Trejiuvanat's list, which I really like.
  14. Exactly my thoughts on SSDs. Although the MC-80b should be able to stand up to an ISD II, and the MC-90 (such as the second Defiance and the Galactic Voyager) should be able to give it a run for it's money.
  15. Yes. The 'save as binary file' can be found under 'actions'. IMO you only need to save the most detailed model and replace the two with lesser detail with it. If you are not exactly sitting on a 486/100, your comp should be able to handle it. Would be 6 .x files, not .bin. We really have to use this technique for the TC to get everyone the right starting ships. If no one finds the starting conditions somewhere in GData, that is.
  16. You could, but that would make Corran main character (and victory condition), go to Dagobah etc. Would be cool if we could add some flags regarding personnel changes. This should be somewhere. But who will ever find out?
  17. Do you want to have my coffee-drenched keyboard? Maybe I can find a return key somewhere... I don't think it's doable. Rebellion (afaik) does not keep track of when a unit/ship is built. Someone maybe knows how Rebellion calculates to-hit chances and how to influence this.
  18. I'd agree. Save maybe for Joruus C'Baoth and Luuke...
  19. I used the ISD as standard with 2750 hull/300 shields. ISD II would then be 3000/360. Assault frigate: 1300/140 Dreadnaught: 1400/120 etc. etc. I worked up the stats for most of the ships we already agreed upon (well, some kind of), but some of them need tweaking for balance reasons. A Carrack Cruiser with 55 shields would simply not work.
  20. I believe the T-65XJ is too far in the future, but some intermediate model (wasn't there a T-65J?) should work. But it would be clearly inferior to the Defender. Lasers are the same, but the Defender is far faster, nimbler and has stronger shields. Shieldpower is the one we could upgrade with the new X-Wing.
  21. Oh boy, this is good stuff. But can it be done?
  22. I am really bad at making tutorials... First, get theeself Mask's tutorial about model exchange. Everything should get clearer then. The only difference for you is that you replace models with ones you have to extract yourself. Somewhere in the main screen you will find the way to exctract resources. Select the resource (the model) you want to extract and save it as a binary file with the extension .x. The 'extract as binary' does not show up on right click. (My problem is that I do not recall the screen configuration exactly, but with my little hints and Mask's tutorial you should be able to do it.)
  23. Hehe, got an idea. The planets maybe use the same color palette as the fighters (for which there is now a tutorial). This would explain why standard 256 color bitmaps show up strange in the strategy screen.
  24. OK. Tremendously close to the dark side, I ventured, for the easy path I intended to take. As I understood it, Mask converted XWA models and reduced polycount and all those things. If you can make models from scratch, that's even better. Only thing that bothers me is that we'd make up stats for the new SDs, but hey, we'd be doing the same with the other ships from NJO and such (only that we have a little more information about those). Star Destroyers are fine with me, but we need to make sure that not every major warship is an SD. The enforcer is a really good idea; the Empire desperately needs such a warship. Timescale: I don't exactly remember where the Republic and Nebula Classes appeared (when they were designed and built), but they had their first big (and seems like) and only larger engagement in the Black Fleet Crisis, although it is very likely that these specific ships were just not mentioned later even though they were in use. But Black fleet Crisis and NJO are only 8 years apart; the Mediator was commissioned by that time and the Viscount as a reaction to the Crisis. And when NJO starts, all these ships have already seen action for some time. When we don't make SSDs available to the rebels, they have no ship that can take a beating from an SSD and live. The Viscount was specifically designed for that task, but its weaponry is likely MUCH inferior.
  25. OK, so it was the first real TC stupid me became aware of... Had fun with that for weeks...
