Could be one of the Fiennes brothers, though I'm not so sure about the chin. (Was Joseph the Shakespeare in Love and Martha, meet Frank, Daniel and Lawrence guy?) Anyway, I welcome the new style. We want something different from the old Rebellion; maybe a bit more realistic.
-
Monsh, your alterations look different from the classic Rebellion look. I like it. Though Han's lower lip looks a little odd. Poodles: Site seems to be down. Could you send me your pic?
-
Forgot two persons for the Rebels: Gaeriel Captison and Pter Thanas. Geez, they should be fun. BTW, we are short on imperial personnel. Any ideas? What about: Teren Rogriss Turr Phennir (I don't like him, he was not that important, just a possibility) About Kyle: if we put him in, we really should forget all those Jedi Knight events since they don't fit into the 'normal' expanded universe. But he was the leader of the Katarn Commandos and worked as a mercenary for the Rebellion together with Jan.

I know waht you mean Igor: Less people with fewer opinions to get together. And since they are the 'insiders' they are the ones really interested who post useful stuff. But why then even bother with this forum? Gank: Could you send me those shiplists, so that I can at least say what I don't like about them (not that it matters, anyway)?
-
Gank: You somehow missed the calculation base. I wanted to tak most variables into consideration, even acceleration etc. As for speeds: A-Wing 120 / E-Wing 135 Shields: Y-Wing has 75 / A-Wing and X-Wing have 50, E-Wing 68. Y-Wings hull is almost twice as tough as the A-Wings. Problem with missiles is that only payload but not type of payload is listed. Is it missiles? The X-Wing carries 6 torps, the A-Wing 12 missiles (8 torps)? Maybe there is a number that seems not exaclty fitting, but all in all I believe it could become well-balanced with some tweaking As for the scimitar: Are these estimates or numbers from a book? I don't know much about the fighter, but a speed of 12 would be really high since the scimitar carries a lot of equipment and is not likely to have such an advanced power system (or was the cost really high?). Bombardment value: Good point. I would make it higher than in classic Rebellion. Fighters doing strafing runs can be really dangerous (see Iron Fist, at Halmad). Igor: Ah, heck, got the wrong number. The Incom T-65C-A2 was this prototype thing.

There are near infinite versions of those ships; at least one of them was not already researched during the Thrawn period. I, too, don't like the idea of researching those ships, but otherwise there won't be much to research. The game would be boring because you have reached max techlevel at day 600. Of course the first rule is to stick to the Expanded Universe, but if it makes the game miss out on possibilities, we have to stray from that rule. Anyways, how do I get access to that "private forum" (my membership has been pending for two months now...)? And why discuss it there? Only registered users can view the forums, and although there are 1.5k of them, most don't drop by very often. So why bother?

I see two, maybe three distinct possibilities: First of all: The Imperials get to have the INT. There is no way around it. First one: New Republic gets the INT, too, at a later point in the game, on a different card. Second: Republic gets the Mod Strike Cruiser, just for diversities sake. Third: Republic only gets the Dominator (the imps get it, too) and is thus at a disadvantage, which might make balancing the whole shipyards issue a bit easier since the imps can chose their fights up to that point. Both sides should get the Dominator. OR: Only the Rebels get the Dominator (not the original one, more like the ISDs Mon Mothma and Elegos A'kla from NJO); the imperials have their second interdictor in the Eclipse/Sovereign.
-
There is another thing Trejiuvanat reminds me of: Command ranks and leadership rating. But I'll save it until later. Your points on Elegos are good, but he joines the Rebellion more than 724 days after starting the TC since it starts the moment when Thrawn discoveres C'Baoth or something. A year or something like that before Thrawn died. On the other hand, I REALLY like Elegos... Granted, the whole Qwi thing is far fetched, but it's a possibility. Not a very good one (I agree with wou on this), but I thought I should mention it. If we skip Jerec etc., Kyle cannot be in there, either. or only pre-JK Kyle and we forget all the JK 1&2 events since they don't really fit in the Star Wars storyline and universe. I would vote against joint cards since they blow the stats through the roof and take away individual characters. Dorja and Brandei: Just take any pics we think fitting. Should be OK.
-
Original post from the stats thread in the ships section. Added missile ratings. OK, fighter stats. All stats from XWA Speed: Took the MGLT speed and added acceleration. Maneuverability: Turn rate + acceleration. Warhead load: still trying to find some kinda balance it. Just taking the warhead numbers from XWA would be pointless since these numbers do not reflect the kind of warhead used. A-Wing lists 12, but these are concussion missiles. If it carries proton torpedos, it's less. 8 or 6 or something. Shield: No shields => no shields. If there are shields, then take shield rate (sbd) and hull rate together. Cannons: Most fitting seems a strength of 3 for each cannon except on the E-Wing (its cannons are supposed to be high powered. That would be (spd/man/la/io/shld/miss) E-Wing: 16/11/12/0/8/8 A-Wing: 14/12/6/0/6/6 X-wing: 12/9/12/0/7/6 B-Wing: 11/8/9/9/17/12 Y-Wing: 9/7/6/6/12/10 K-Wing: 12/8/?/?/13/16 (not known to me, I believe 4 lasers and two ions.) Interceptor 13/12/12/0/0 Bomber: 9/10/6/0/0/6 (8?) Defender: 16/13/12/6/11/6 Scimitar: Shields would be 8, other stats not known to me. Guess: 9/9/6/6/8/8 (Oh well, the K-Wing does not fare as bad as I thought. But maintainance would have to be REALLY high, since the thing has more defects than a Gamorrean Morrts.) X-Wing: These are the stats for the original X-Wing from the movies. The T-65D-A2 (as Igor correctly called it, see http://www.thecrisiscenter.net/LYNKdesigns/rscentral_cjb_net/xwing_history.html) would have different stats. Missiles are all estimates (but based on payload and type), as are the scimitar's guns.

Something hit me when I completed the last post: Rebellion NEVER was meant to be modded or altered by players; otherwise they would not have made the code so limited. So I'm not that sure about the stats anymore. Would beat up the system, though.
-
I never actually played Rebellion Multiplayer, but I have some thoughts on that issue. I would guess all the numbers and stats are taken from the host computer. All other stuff, like names, pictures, sounds etc. are independent. Although this is just guesswork, it would seem logical that the game picks up those things simply by their strrefs or something. So basically my guess is that both get to play the same game with the looks each one has given it on his/(her?) computer.

The 'more recent version' message is pretty common; I think I get it all the time. Never bothered with it. One thing that bothers ME is that upon imorting settings, the character names when having a command are not changed. So if you replace Roget Jiriss with Nien Nunb, it really says Nien Nunb but also Admiral Jiriss. Blast. About the Error Critique: Appeared in some places in the forums, but never occured to me. Maybe look up some of the old threads since I can't remember any solution. Mask can probably tell you more about a 3D editor.

Wedge and Face. For the Imps: Rom Mohc Guy Sienar Gotta look up theforce.net if they are already dead. I'm not so sure about timeline and this whole 'alternate expanded universe thing' about Kyle Katarn, but we could theoretically add Kyle & Jan for the Republic and Jerec & Sariss for the Empire.
-
That's our problem; we cannot get to work until we (whoever that is) have worked out everything together. A general problem of democracy. The only way to solve this is to start pushing the people to agreeing on something. TK421, would you help me? Especially on ships and personnel. Discussions need focus.
-
There is a problem with the standard INT. Since BOTH sides would have to have it, it would become available to both sides simultaniously, with the same stats etc. We can't make the INT only available to the rebels since it was one of Thrawns major advantages in the war. I dunno when the New Republic finally began producing the INT (When did Sienar Fleet Systems join them, anyway? Did they ever?), but it's far off in the future. Just for timeline's sake, it would be OK to leave the republic without an interdictor for a long long time, but balance wise it would be just horrible. Nemesis has a good point on the Mod Strike Cruiser though. There was only one ship completed, a second destroyed during construction. But the rebels are not supposed to having interdictors at that time. All the stuff about gravity well generators first having to be stolen from imperial ships etc. would justify making the ship available relatively late and for a high cost. Rebel Star Destroyers are covered with the upcoming Republic and Nebula Class ships. Trejiuvanat is right about the Nebulon-B2 frigate. It only has about 80% of the original's power. On the other hand, it's only half its size. In terms of power, the original would be better, so I would agree to Modified Corvettes and Nebulon-B frigates.

Monsh, I want in, too. Already worked up some ship cards, but since I have no place to post them, they are only rotting on my HDD. So when there finally is something agreed upon in the other discussions, this team starts to work. Gotta speed up that process.

Untimely, you just got promoted! *bow* Erm, SIR! Now, that was was fun.

I looked up theforce.net. C-Wing this was a unique, specially-built fighter. It was classified as a heavy assault craft, armed with four heavy blaster cannons and a proton torpedo launcher. Enhanced shielding and armor plating gave the C-Wing strength in a fight, while a powerful ion drive gave it speed and maneuverability. (SOG) (What the heck is SOG? Here it comes.) Abbreviation SOG Title Starships of the Galaxy Author(s) Owen K.C. Stephens Copyright Date 2001 Publisher(s) Wizards of the Coast ISBN Number 0-7869-1859-4 Hm. OK. So it's no fanfic, but not a common ship either. The pic looked more Wing Commander style of old to me.

Um, sir, Grand Admiral sir, am I dismissed?

If we pick up the idea of only ONE character per side having R&D abilities, we should add Qwi Xux to the rebel list. If Thrawn brought back Daala from the Maw, Qwi could already have defected. No Kyp, though. Guri could ba another possibility for BOTH sides. Dash Rendar could join the rebels (Republic) again (a comic set after SotE established that he is alive, as did the computer game). Dorja and Brandei from the original game should remain since they appear in the books. New pics would be nice, though.
-
Yep, I agree. Maybe we should change the imperial list around a bit. The start off with just one fighter (the Interceptor, replacing the original Fighter). I'd say make the Scimitar the next fighter, then the Defender (assume everything up to that point was just prototype material) and the Vigilance last. It's about stats and balance. The Interceptor sets the standard. Scimitar is slow, but packs a punch and boasts strong shields. The Defender is the strongest all-around fighter, which is offset by ridiculously high production and maintainance cost (if the interceptor has 3/3, let the Defender have 12/10 or even higher). The A-9 should be significantly more expensive than the Interceptor and slower. (Maybe the Interceptor has 3/2 and the vigilance 5/3 or something.) If anyone can get his hands on stats for the Vigilance, post them here. I worked up some stats for most of the other fighters (some pages back). Maybe I'll re-post them here.
-
The first shiplist is on page one (by Gank). I picked it up one or two pages after that to make some suggestions. Rebels would be using a modified Strike Cruiser with gravity well projectors like the one seen in XvT:BoP. What about those Corvettes and Frigates? I won't go away until I get some straight answers!
-
I can't remember anything either. I did not read every book (Splinter of the mind's eye, bounty hunters and most other Tales of ... books are missing) but I never heard of it. Was it in a comic? And who produced it? Doesn't look like an Incom/FreiTek or Koensayr model. Gotta look up theforce.net.
-
I already posted some fighter stats in the stas thread, look them up and tell me what you think of them. I agree with TK421. An important part of the TC's idea was to get rid of all those fictitious ships/characters and put the REAL Star Wars things in there. Atmosphere etc. Stick to that, I'd say.
-
They don't care for this game (anymore?). Anyway, that's a thing I also missed. I somewhat countered this by slowing down research by giving no character the ability for R&D and putting all things not available at the start into research (like Rebel Dreadnaught, you don't have any at the start but can build them). Slowed things down so the SSD did not become available at day 900 as it always did before. OK, let's get things done. All these small discussions lead us nowhere. Since it did not work putting up too many things for discussion at once, let's do one thing after another. What about Corvettes and Nebulon-B Frigates? Modified or original version. Modified would justify putting them into research and thus making the technical progress slower. They are more powerful and would not so easily be blasted by all the new ships that are going to be included. Original would mean more flexibility from the start and would fit the canon better since the unmodified versions are more common than their modified counterparts.
