  1. Read through the past posts in this thread; we already had this discussion and I am constantly repeating myself (gets really boring). It was a no to K-Wings for a couple of reasons like technical and design flaws, popularity in the armed forces, weapons loadout, stats, timescale etc. They are no longer around in the NJO and so on. (You cannot adjust the fighters rate of fire, it's always the same no matter what, torpedos cannot be fired while the target has still shields due to the Rebellion engine, so plasma torps would be out, too.) The rebels already have a prime class bomber and a fast interceptor. The X-Wing is the best allrounder and the E-Wing is sorta like a heavy fighter with lots of bang against caps. In my opinion, the K-Wing doesn't offer any new tactical advantages due to the limited Rebellion engine. As far as I know TIE Fighters were no longer produced during the Trawn period (why would they? Interceptors are not that much more expensive but more than double their threat). As for the Droid: Who would want to get cheap gun fodder late in the game? Not me, but there might be other opinions. So I would suggest the A-9.
  2. You ARE a cadet and labeled accordingly. Dismissed.
  3. Problem is that many of these fighters are fanfic (W-Wing, H-Wing etc.), never really appeared in novels/comics/whatever except for games (T-Wing) or never became regular units. I'd say stick with the list we came up for the rebels A-Wing B-Wing E-Wing X-Wing (some advanced model) These fighters are well-known, popular, have a good balance for fleet operations and were the main fighting force for the New Republic for nearly 20 years. On the imperial side, however, I am not so sure. TIE Interceptors and Scimitars have to be in there for certain since they were the standard during the Trawn period. I'd also like to see an advanced fighter (V-38 or Defender) which is really good but rather expensive. The A-9 would be really good. I think its time might be a little off, but that's OK with me (gotta ask Gank, though ). Fast, maneuverable and with shields, but still without hyperdrive or heavy weaponry. Kinda like an A-Wing.

About the fighters: Look at the Cards forum; the answers to many questions/suggestions are already there. Two lists or something like replacing old ships with newly researched ones is not possible with the Rebellion Engine as far as I know. But the idea is cool. To make research slower, we could simply refuse to give ANY character R&D abilities; progress would then be solely depend on production. If we want to have research, we could make ONE character with abilities for all three branches, would slow things down and force the player to actually think. Do I want better ships? Or is having advanced production facilities more important? Also it would become really lucrative to kidnap that R&D character.
  5. Mask: Best o' luck. Hm, to me these 'things' next to Dooku always seemed more like drones or something, and then only for atmosphere (they were running on repulsors, didn't see anything that looked like sublight drives).
  6. We have plenty of female DSA players, too. (DSA is an RPG with a lot of more depth than D&D; it's been released in the USA last year under the name of The Dark Eye. In Germany, it's been around for more than 20 years.) And no, I did not ask Wynne yet. Were I supposed to? Alright, I'll do it.
  7. A very wise man once said that the difference between genius and maniac is defined by success. What the heck is success?!?

WOULD be good, but I don't think that's possible. It would eat up card space like hell, and a random model selection is very likely to be impossible due to the Rebellion engine. IF we include the Home One Class, it would definetely have to be labeled according to Mon Cal nomenclature; like MC85. However, I don't like the idea of introducing a class based on a unique ship. But I would welcome any opinions.
  9. Elvis! You speak my mind! MC80b - Small (well, comparatively speaking) powerhouse that get's an absolute maximum out of it's technological basis. Nearly blew up an SSD, took on an ISD II and won and took a helluva ship with it when it was going down. Love this baby. Later versions even carried 8(!) starfighter squadrons, and that without any tractor beams. Talk about skill.
  10. OK, let's call them Ladies. (wait) (wait a little longer) (wait a lot longer) (wait until Duke Nukem Forever is ready) (wait as long as it takes Bill Gates to develop something GOOD) (wait 'till Judgement Day) Still no ladies here. Blast. (the last two waits were in the wrong order, I know:))

Yes, the only descriptions for Home One I saw were 'MC85' or 'Home One Class'. And yes, it's turbolaser batteries, but an ISD II carries more of them and is half the size. Still odd.
  12. If we wait for EP III we will have more units/characters/fighters to chose from. But heck, that's waiting. Boooooring! BTW, let's get finished with Reloaded, I want to PLAY it!
  13. We'd have to ask Wynne, the gal who did the changes to the original photo. Heck, they have chicks in the BG2 community! Why don't we?

Ah heck, ships. On the one hand, Gank is concerned about canon, on the other hand we talk about making a class of Home One, use Dominator Interdictors and ships never seen. I can hardly believe the 29 turbolasers, just doesn't make sense, 92 is more logical and likely. Still not much for a ship of THAT size, though. As for Home One being MC80a Class: That's just not possible. The MC80a was supposed to be the standardized version of the older MC80. If Home One was described as MC80, it would be OK since they were ALL unique and of varying size, armament etc. I would believe that EVERY Mon Cal Cruiser of battlesihp size or greater at that time was designated MC80. Some logic seems to be missing, though, since the MC40 was around then, too, and it's more like a standard ship.

Mask: Problem is that Home One is extremely lightly armed and a unique design. I believe there were reasons that it was never mass-produced. (the 29 turbolasers could be a switcheroo, though.) ricepr2001: I have seen that, too, but most of those sources are hardly reliable. Home One was its own class, it seems. But maybe you can give us a quote or something; it COULD be right, after all.

I looked up the MC80/MC80a issue. The MC80s were the first passenger liners converted for fighting. Since no two ships looked alike, they were individual designs with varying fighting capabilities and no one save a Mon Cal could pilot them. The MC80a were the first warships produced by the Mon Calamari. They were based on one particular design of a passenger liner, but fitted with weaponry from the start. This was a standardized design also flyable by other species. If we look at RotJ, we see at least four different Man Cal Cruisers: Home One, Liberty and two other kinds that are not easily to distinguish and only vary a little in hull structure and thrusters. I don't really know if there were more than those four Mon Cal Cruisers. The one we want for the TC will be most likely be the MC80a, since it's the first model that was sorta 'mass produced'.
  17. I think Untimely is right about this leadership thing. The planet's loyalty is also a major factor. As for the flags for active or nat at the start of the game: I have a rebellion editor (apart from RebEd) that let's you set a flag for active or not, but as far as I can tell, it's not working. I would guess that this is just tied to specific slots; so you could work around this by swapping cards from slot to slot. As for 100% missions etc. Suppose there is something like a cap on success probability, would be only logic. Maybe there is some kinda (n-1) thing around like there was in D2, since the RebEd description often say 100%. Or just a glitch in getting the stats out of the code.
  18. Get thee RebEd (in the downloads section) if you do not already have it. Use its 'load settings' feature and select the Warlords.reb file. Exchange the dllentries.txt with the one supplied, but not without backing up the old somewhere. There you go. Character names do have to be changed manually when having a command. Erhem, and do the dll exchange BEFORE loading the .reb file.
  19. As far as I understand the dll and game structure, it is not possible to really add new slots, not for characters, ships or whatsoever (would have been really nice for shipnames). Even if we could add resources, we'd still need to tell Rebellion where to look for them and what to do with them. No luck in finding out, yet. Back to the characters issue: Do we start working on something like a 'final list' soon?
  20. Yeah, go for hippos! But I think we would have to change more than one fighter, since we don't want to start with X-Wings and E-Wings (the E replacing the Y). I'd like to start with A and B, so we'd need to swich X and A and Y and B. Then A and B with X and E. Work. I HATE work.
  21. And I had thought that THIS fact would be hard to miss. Thrawn period definetely means E-Wings to me; they were introduced during this time. A-Wings and B-Wings were common then and are in use up to the NJO time. X-Wings and Y-Wings, too, though the X-Wings in many different models and upgrades. Y-Wings got replaced/drafted to backwater worlds and gradually vanished from view, although there were still many of the tough old buggers around at this time. But when I had to decide which starfighter has to go, I'd chose the Y-Wing. K-Wing is way off time and was never as common in the fleet as the other models.
  22. Definetely weird. Some strange things happen when the battlefield (erm, -cube) is really crowded and suddenly all ships start to freak out because of one command. Happened to me once with 40+ Star Destroyers on screen. One ship tries to get from A to B, but runs the complete other way around (over Z ). How big were the fleets? And were other custom models present? Otherwise it really sounds like a problem with the pathfinding routine and ship dimension. Maybe PM Mask about this one, seems he doesn't look into this thread.
  23. Err, no, I don't know. I did not test that one extensively either. There are some odd half-turns when you assign the majority of guns to the flanks of very lond ships (like the SSD) when they switch targets and cannot turn because of the poximity of other ships. Is most of the firepower in the bow of your Eclipse?
  24. All I can do is offer you a 'no', but I did not test the Eclipse thoroughly and am now using the Sovereign. Sounds like a problem with the AI routine that prevents collisions or something. When does the maneuvering problem occur?
  25. Yes it is, and I like it very much. But the drawing looks like BG-style and not like anything seen on Rebellion cards.
