Mad78 Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 I saw Pirates of the Carribeans: At World's End yesterday. It was great but the middle of the film was a bit confusing. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Darth_Rob Posted May 27, 2007 Author Posted May 27, 2007 Im gonna see it today. The plan was to see it tomorrow, but my girlfriend ended up shopping at some outlets longer, and didnt get home in time, and I was stuck with my dad doing landscaping work all day... Krytos Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Personally, I didn't like it. Nor did I like the second, both lost the fun elements that I enjoyed in the first movie. But, judging from my friends response - if you like the second, you'll like the third. http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1333/3dartistbanneranimationws1.gifhttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4026/rebellionbannerdi2.gif
Darth_Rob Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 I enjoyed the third film. Yes, it had its weaknesses, but I wouldn't rag on it as much as the critics have been. It was a decent continuation of the series. And for those who dont know, there is going to be Pirates 4. I had no idea until my girlfriend mentioned it after the movie. Apparently they filmed them back to back, much like Jackson did with Lord of the Rings. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! budious Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 In regards to Pirates, I am confused about something. I read in Rolling Stone magazine several months back that Keith Richards was cast to portray Jack Sparrow's father. Depp also stated that he developed many of Jack's mannerisms from watching Richards. However, I have not seen one hint of it after that. I'm assuming that either he has a cameo role, and little camera time, or they are just doing a damn good job of keeping the lid on it. I thought he was in the second movie on board the ghost ship with the captain that resembles Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama... If you're a fan of the old/young gay porn... I think these two qualify for "totally gay for each other" awards... Proof is in the pudding: http://i.realone.com/assets/rn/img/2/0/8/5/14555802-14555806-large.jpg More proof in the midget's left pant's pocket (notice Depp's hand playing pocket pool): http://captainjacksblog.com/wp-content/uploads/keith-richards-pirates-3.jpg For more pics like these, search the terms "Johnny Depp Keith Richards gay" under Google Images. About "Pirates 4" - "Orlando Bloom's character in the now-juggernaut Pirates of the Caribbean series will not survive through the inevitable fourth installment -- so says a Disney insider who spoke to the British paper Daily Star. According to the source, the script for the fourth film is currently being written, and Disney bean counters are already examining ways to cut its massive costs. They have concluded that although both Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley are essential to the continued success of the series, Orlando's character is human NyQuil and "not necessary" to maintain the gravy train (I could have told them that). Whether or not he will be killed in the third movie, due next summer, or be bumped off early in the fourth is not specified..." Orlando not an essential ingredient to the gravy train! SOCL Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Rob, as far as I understand, the second and third films were filmed back-to-back, but the fourth is still in pre-production. Darth_Rob Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 Rob, as far as I understand, the second and third films were filmed back-to-back, but the fourth is still in pre-production. Thats what I get for listening to my girlfriend... But I do agree with Orlando Bloom's character being rather lame. He has little personality in the film. He did a much better elf than a pirate... Mad78 Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I personnally saw too much of him in LOTR! Darth_Rob Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 I thought he did good. I think he was over-glamourized as a poster boy following the movie, but I didn't get that vibe from him during the films. However, he has that feel to him in Pirates. SOCL Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Personally, I don't believe the guy can act. Well, let me take that back--I think he acts about as well as Hayden Christensen in Revenge of the Sith when he's "overwhelmed" by Palpatine's decision to appoint him to the Jedi Council. The way Bloom, like Christensen (and don't forget the brat who played Anakin in The Phantom Menace, too!), seem incapable of delivering lines in a way and tone that sounds even remotely natural pools me out. I hold this same opinion of Natalie Portman in certain scenes of Episodes II and III and Keanu Reeves from every movie he's played in. budious Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Scared of homosexuals, budious? No, I'm pretty sure I could kick all three of their asses, except maybe I'd have to put the midget on a stool first. I hold this same opinion of Natalie Portman in certain scenes of Episodes II and III and Keanu Reeves from every movie he's played in. I must agree with you about Jake Lloyd (sp?), Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, and Keanu Reeves (Holy crap, Keanu Reeves!) but Orlando Bloom seemed alright to me in the Pirates movies. In Lord of the Rings he was kind of awkward, but that was partly because, well, he was playing an elf prince- the lines sort of have to be awkward. SOCL Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I suppose that's true about Bloom in LOTR. Even so, I thought Aragorn's elvish was far more convincing and sounded far more natural than the way Bloom puked his lines in shudders and spurts. JediHunter Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Discounting his better than horrible performance in LOTR and his.. perhaps.. ok performance in Pirates.. if you look at the films he's acted in.. they arent exactly the best films out there... despite Troy which I dont think was made good because of him.. in fact.. i think its one of the few that you can say was a good film that he was in... i just think he stinks all around... Defender_16 Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Went and saw Pirates of the Carribean with my cousin last night. Have to say it was better than the second movie.
DarthTofu Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I enjoyed the 300 referance during the conferance- "This is madness!""This is politics!" Darth_Rob Posted June 10, 2007 Author Posted June 10, 2007 I dont think I mentioned it yet, but I saw Knocked Up last weekend. It was a fairly good comedy. Darth_Rob Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 I finally got Pan's Labyrinth in from Netflix and watched it this morning. It's a very, very good movie. About half the movie is about a girl caught in a fairytale, and the other half is about her father fighting rebels during the Spanish civil war in the 1940s. Its a really good film. On a side note, I like where this forum has come from. I started it to rant about my dislikes of movie theatres (prices and what not), but it has turned into a general discussion about movies themselves. Its a lot cleaner than having a separate topic for each movie. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! Mad78 Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 There was quite alot of chatter about that movie over here. It looked rather strange so I never really bothered. Who here has seen the movie "The Duelists"?
