Pity about Connery. But then, I've been waiting for him to return in the "next James Bond film", and the next one was right after Goldeneye. No point in getting any hopes up.

I just saw Ocean's 13 and though it may not be an Ocean's 11, it was definitely worth the watch. It wasn't worth the $10.50 I paid for tickets at this particular theater, but it was worth seeing. Maybe Dane Cook is right and every guy deep down likes heist movies because they want to be a part of one (the heist, not the movie), but I can't say I've ever seen a series of movies about heists that continue to surprise and please. Al Pacino was a very good villain, though I fear Andy Garcia as Benedict in the first two was much better in the role of antagonist. The trio of George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon as always was a magnificent treat, and though it was rather unfortunate that neither Catherine Zeta Jones or Julia Robert were not in the film, the film was not any less without them. Though I certainly suggest everyone see the original (and by that I mean the recent Ocean's 11 and not the stupidity that was the Frank Sanatra original), it won't be necessary to see either that one or Ocean's 12 in order to understand and enjoy 13.

I saw Fantastic Four yesterday. It rocked.

It was so much better than the first one. They gave Doom a lot more credit, Silver Surfer was pretty cool. They did a good job of showing the FF for what they are...celebrity superheroes. They are the few heroes who do not hide their identity, but instead cope with it. Plenty of action and what not. My only, ONLY criticism is that Galactus was downplayed, and not given the full attention and detail he deserves. Otherwise, I say bravo. The movie highly surpassed my expectations.

I suppose I'll have to catch it, then...

On a totally unrelated note, doesn't 300 come out on DVD relatively soon?

Well, saw Transformers last night ... truth be told I actually thought it was good...ish.

It was a good action flick - typical Hollywood style. If you're expecting it to mimic the original transformers, don't anymore - you'll probably be disappointed.

Go in not expecting much more than giant robots blowing up crap, a pretty girl and a lot of laughs and you'll hit the movie on the head

My biggest gripe, apart from not following the Transformers story as we know it in the comics and cartoon, was the "comic relief characters". There was a lot of laughing in the movie, and these guys (one in particular) were not needed to go overboard like they did.

In fact, I'm sure many will be able to compare said comic relief character to Jar Jar. Annoying.

Also, the transforming time and over the top animation of several characters ... well ... you'll get when you see it

Other than that I thought it was pretty good :)

It won't win any awards for the story, but was worth the time it took to watch.

@K: AHHHHHH!!!!!! I have to wait to next week to see it, since it doesn't release here in the states until July 3rd!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I had forgotten to mention that I saw 1408 earlier this week. It was a very, very good movie. I tend to not bother watching too many of the new horror movies, but I had to see this one (being based on one of King's stories and all). I was not disappointed one bit. However, I never read the story (it must have been in one of his short story collections that I dont have),so I cant compare it to the movie.

Also saw Evan Almighty over last weekend. It was much, MUCH better than Bruce Almighty. Steve Carrell is proving to be quite the great comedic actor. For those of you who missed Little Miss Sunshine, I highly suggest renting it and giving it a go. It was a truly fantastic movie. But yeah, Steve Carrell is the man, and he hasn't disappointed me in any of his movies yet.

For anyone who has, is, or will be mad about the Transformers movie... a poem

I haven't seen the movie myself, nor expect that it will be anything like the cartoon show. Heck, its live action.. who really expects it to retain the feel of the cartoons?

I'm not a particular fanboy for Transformers, but the poem and its uncertain authorship is an interesting story

Yeah, I was never into Transformers when I was a kid. I kinda avoided them and stuck to He-Man and dinosaurs...

The movie looks like it would be great. And seeing how Im not a fan (like I was for Spidey and all) I wont be disappointed by differences between the show and the movie. The movie just looks so badass.

Well, I finally got to see Hostel II on Friday.. it was pretty good. Not as much gore as I was hoping for.. but still some really disturbing parts. I think it was all around an ok movie. Although the ending was way predictible, I called it like 20 minutes into the movie.. but whatever... anyways.. I still didnt get to see 1408 though :?

I hear some new comedy called "Road Trip from Hell" is starting filming tomorrow... Just a rumor, though.

I'm going to see Transformers tomorrow, see if it's any good when you no nothing about the original plot. So far as I know, the movie consists of:

1) Giant robots kicking the tar out of each other.

2) Automobiles turning into giant robots, and giant robots turning into vehicles.

3) Shia Lebeouf

The first two look pretty good. The last one has the potential to suck hairy Wookie balls.

The 1957 film with Robert Mitchum? Yes, a "brilliant" flick indeed, I've seen it many times

I just watched Transformers, and truth-be-told, I have to say that I agree with Krytos's assessment of it. The plot is pure crap, but the special effects are bloody amazing- everything looks so real! Well, not quite everything- this one brick wall during a shoot-out scene was really digital-looking, but that was only for about a tenth of a second, and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who noticed it.

Who was who got slightly confusing when the "Bad" transformers arrived, though, as my friend put it, "The good guys are colorful ones, the bad guys are the dark-colored, blackish ones. Except the weapons guy who is, in fact, black. In more ways than one. And the best possible way."

As Krytos said, the comic relief was a bit heavy at the beginning, though toward the end it was lessened considerably, which was nice. All in all it's worth seeing once- and only once.

The plot is nothing special, and rather crappy, but the fight scenes are great, high-adrenaline. One thing that bugs me from the movie is this (Highlight if you've seen it): After Megatron dies, Optimus Prime snags something out of his chest- what the heck was that? I thought it was a shard of the cube thingy (Which, Star Trek fans, looked decidedly like your precious Borg Cube mixed with a Rubix Cube) but that really doesn't make too much sense, as it was almost entirely destroyed.

Also, if the cube gave life to the Autotrons and let them live in peace for a while, why did it make only evil machines with whatever it hit?

Simple, they weren't evil. They had no guidance, and thus went with the most basic of...well...machine nature.

And you said it yourself, it was almost entirely destroyed.

It's not a movie currently in the theaters, but I just saw The Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith and his son. Words cannot come close to describing how simply amazing is this movie. I've never been moved quite so much by anything, and the most amazing part is that it is based on a true story. I HIGHLY recommend EVERYTHING see it!

I'd simply assumed that when he said, "Everything" he was referring to non humans as well, meaning that pets, Ewoks, and Hillary Clinton should see it as well...

I still say that Cube is one of the best movies of all time... Messes with your head, even if it isn't that creepy (According to Mad).

Granted, some bits hurt ("Hmm, is 369 prime or not?") but the acting is decent enough, and the overall plot is great.
