Is anyone going to the Love Parade (Germany) this year (dunno the date)? Consequently, is anyone planning on visiting the FFWD Danceparade in the Netherlands on the 14th of august?

Yeah, it's in Berlin, practically the other side of the country (about 500km north-east), from my southern point of view. 8)

Also I've never been into techno music. Electric guitars are what I prefer

Hey Mask, southern Germany? I'm going to Karlsruhe in about three weeks, with school. It should be somewhere in the south too. Any idea wheter it's an interesting city?

It's somewhere "above" Stuttgart, but I've never been there. A former teacher of mine came from there.

From what I know it's a big city, so there are good chances, you'll find enough interesting stores

Are you visiting a museum ?

Huh...less than the distance from San Antonio to Dallas (274.8 miles ~ 714 km), yet I'll bet it takes a LOT longer, what with all the convoluted twists in the Autobahn.

Also I've never been into techno music. Electric guitars are what I prefer

8O And all this time I thought all Germans listened to nothing but music featuring tubas. Don't tell me: y'all don't really go around wearing lederhosen all the time either, right? Just kiddin'.

Gotta love dispelling stereotypes. Just for the record, not all of Texas looks like a scene from a spagetti western, not everyone here owns a ranch or has the oil business as their primary source of income, and I don't even OWN a cowboy hat, let alone spurs.

BTW, techno does kinda suck.

That's almost the distance from the northern border with Nicaragua to the southern border with Panama.

I've lived in Germany, actually they do wear their Lederhosen all day long, stop wearing the Lederhose is a major crime. Plus, mask loves tuba music!

I really hate to crush your illusions ... nah, 'hate' is not the right word  , but I gotta correct some things here (yes, again :P)

First of all: I frowned when reading the 700km, so I googled the formula and know once more, that 1 mile is about 1,6 km, which means 274.8miles are more like 442.2km

I've lived in Germany, actually they do wear their Lederhosen all day long, stop wearing the Lederhose is a major crime.
Hmm, you must've lived in Bavaria then, right at the Königssee. I heard they do that there for the tourists.

Actually 99,999% of my life I've worn nothing but Jeans. A girl in school once said, before prom night, that she couldn't imagine what I would look like in a formal suit.

Oh and stopping to wear any pants in public is some kind of minor offense, but it's winter here, so it doesn't happen too often...

Plus, mask loves tuba music!
Sure, can't get enough of it, evidence is in the "what song are you listening to" thread.

Yeah, I've heard, that eastern Texas would look quite different.

Interesting cultural reference, there. I wasn't even aware that students in Germany HAD proms. So tell me...at this dance, was there a live band? And if so, were there many tubas involved? (Not to beat a dead horse, but... )

Um, yeah...that's what I was referring to. The Texas Shoreline... :? Of course, if you count Mexico (may as well, given our porous border), then I can see your point.

Bawitdaba ? I'm kidding.

Huh? I was referring to...{ahem}...mi, mi, mi...

"The Stars at Night,

DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS!!

Ever see the movie, "Can't Hardly Wait"? I just pictured you being like Charlie Korsmo's character from the movie. "I can't feel my legs...I CAN'T FEEL MY LEGS!!!"

as in "nice lookin' single women" ? :D

Ooooh, YEAH!! I DID marry one, after all. Texas women are a whole different breed, let me tell you. They like to hunt, fish, be outdoors, they look fantastic in a pair of Ropers, love a good time, and are just waitin' for a cowboy to come up and introduce themselves on the dancefloor with a little "Belt-buckle polishin'".

You'll have to come on down here and see for yourself sometime. Although, we WILL have to teach you to 'Two-Step'...those 'Pulp Fiction' dance moves won't quite cut it around here.

 How could I know ? I don't have the original title of every movie, I just thought it sounded like "the young and restless", "bold and beautiful" and what these things, that made me switch the channels, weren't all named...

Pleading ignorance won't save you now, Mask. Besides, wouldn't "the Ugly" at the end of it have tipped you off? :P

Now, if I knew what Ropers were ... :?

Jeans...TIGHT fitting, cowgirl-cut jeans. Well, they're also a type of women's cowboy-boot, but they're a brand of jeans common here in Texas.

See, that's what I thought, too. However, "Two-Steppin'" (a.k.a., "Belt-Buckle Polishin'", from the proximity in which you dance with your partner) is simplicity in itself to begin with, and it is my personal experience that the more adult beverages you consume, the better "Two-Stepper" you become. Correction on the Ropers. It occurred to me after I left work yesterday that I must have been smokin' something. Ropers are a brand of cowgirl boots. The tight jeans that go along with the Ropers are a brand called Rockies.

 let's say, I was rather confused by it. Reading all this in a hurry, I went over it and suddenly halted thinking "Hunh ? Who's a Pelvis ? ... Ah, ok..."

So no offense was taken

Well, to quote Zapp Brannigan : you must've been smoking some bad granola

But either way : "rrrrrr, aooooo"

As I wrote earlier somewhere, I once thought I had a conversation, that lasted for hours, but then I was told the next day, that I just stood there with a funny grin, without opening my mouth.

Although that was a party, where I had gotten back some bad grades before and I had a lot to forget...

Ok, a combined google & Amazon search led me to the German title of that Western. Re-translated it would be called "two glorious scoundrels", now pray tell me, how I could relate that to "the good, the bad and ugly"

I called my uncle yesterday about it and we're both positive about it, that he's got that one on tape somewhere. I'll take a look at it.

Trust me, Mask...you CAN be taught. My first date with my future wife was when she taught me to Two-Step, and now she swears I'm a better dancer once I have a minimum of two beers in my system.

Not at this moment, but I knew, that it was a synonym for a good dancer.

Down, boy!
You remember the movie, where my avatar first appeared in ? I was howling in the same way, but didn't smack my head on the table (well, at least not this time).

Trust me, Mask...you CAN be taught. My first date with my future wife was when she taught me to Two-Step, and now she swears I'm a better dancer once I have a minimum of two beers in my system.
Umm, did I meantion, that I don't drink beer ?

... ducks ...

So I gotta start with the harder stuff and there's only so much Wodka and Whiskey, that I can take (especially with that foaming powder, which I don't know the english word for right now)...

The voices are generally very good, though. Clint sounds like he has a very dry throat, the voice fits him perfectly.

Hell, even Steven Segal sounds like a tough guy in the German versions

It's just too bitter for my taste and I've tried the most of them: Pils, Kölsch, Starkbier and Weizenbier. The Weizen was the only one, that I could be persuaded to drink, if everything else was gone.

Hey, but I also don't eat "Spätzle", although I'm a native Swabian, I'm just an anarchist

Chick drinks ? You mean like Caipirinia, or what they are called ? Nah, the first and last time I tried that I had to let it go through my head again, which never happened before, when I was drinking something.

Undertalented? The got the title completely wrong! I mean, that's either 'creativly massaging the title' or an indicator that they are functionally illiterate.
Why do you think I read all my books in the original version, or stopped watching the dubbed episodes of Futurama ? Although Futurama is the most horrible example of out-of-synch translation. But that's another topic.

Yeah, I was looking like this 8O, when I heard his original, higher pitched voice, the first time. Maybe you'll find the (uncut) German DVD of 'Red Alert' 1 or 2, that's the standard voice he gets here.
