Eh, you truly need to play the game to understand what the issue is about. Most who have played Rebellion will agree that it was the best star wars strategy game to play if you really wanted to have that feel of playing in the Star Wars universe. The game was far from perfect tho, the space battles were horrible (most people I know don't even play the space battles and autoresolve), too much mircomanagement, and just lack of eye candy. When most people heard about EAW it truly looked like Rebellion 2, it looked like it had corrected all the issues that troubled rebellion and was the game all Star Wars gamers have been waiting for. Problem was while the space battles were vastly improved and the eye candy is there, instead of putting mircomanagement in moderation they took it almost out completely (so we went from two extremes, too much to too little, we need to find the balance point). Also EAW took out a lot of the gameplay that made Rebellion a great Star wars strategy game. That is why people here always bring up Rebellion, we feel we are soooo close to having that perfect star wars strategy game we can almost taste it. I still say that Rebellions gameplay with EAWs graphics and eye candy would make the best star wars game and one of the best strategy games ever.
