I calculated where I stand with the burn making process, and I've got 43 % done. Basically, I've got 30 ships york on and so far, I've done around 13. That means I've done more than 52 burns, as some ships are being updated. Jyst today, I've changed the Golan III for a better ref pic and used the dreadnaught encypic to enhance build and fleet pic. When I'm done, there will be a whole new feel to this game! Stay tuned. I'll get more for you when possible (and sorry for lack of screenies, I'd rather work on the actual mod for the moment).

No concern, this is now done for all the 20 planets or so. I know what I'm doing and have the list of what palette is associated with what bin. My work on this matter is not perfect due to limitations of the method, but that's still better than having non-corresponding planets. And yup, that would basically be for all things in tactical. I do happen to have said tutorials. I'll try to set a link with them somewhere. Just tell me which tutorials you need and I'll pack 'em. And by the way, unless you want to prove your spam blocker's efficiency, I'd suggest you remove your e-mail from here. Otherwise, spam-bots will find-it....

Don't know if I mentionned-it previously, but the Reffinery has a new pic, reference is courtesy of Antonius. Also, as the Sandcrawler is a mining vehicle, it has replaced the mine vanilla pictures. In other news, only one thing has to be corrected by Darth Tex before my vision of the galaxy is completed (within the limitations of the Rebellion interface, of course). I've been able to make a multiplayer game with myself. That's pretty good news. It also mean that just maybe, you guys with Vista 64bit and Windows 7 64 bits are going to be able to play-it. When I'll release my beta, please tell-me if it wors on your 32-bit as well. It does on mine, but you never know... I'm still working on the burns, but slowly and as University is coming, I expect progress is going to slow even more. Especially since I decided to start over new with my Rebel interface project (the idea remains, but I'm gonna try to brighten the thing a notch and perhaps change a few pics here and there...)

Modelling for Rebellion is pretty hard. You've got to make your models look better than original without adding too much poly's, otherwise it'll crash....

Uh, is 2.0 available somewhere yet?

Actually, I'm pretty sure you can't change all the encyclopedia entries by RebEd, since some of them are hex characters. Basically, that means that you'll end-up doing a lot of hex-editing, which is not fine if you don't understand hex coding... the best is the cardspace mod that's somewhere out there. But yeah, Ressource hacker is way better for a lot of edits. Also, it is mandatory to make new burns for your new ship cards.

That was a long wall of text

Sorry, wasn't there for the preceding 3 days. But I think you got my meaning anyway. I did not have a precise pic of EJ's model, but it's good that Warb had one. And about being inactive... man, you so deserve a break! You've worked on this baby like a pro and one layer of polishing ain't waiting for the next one, so that's good enough for me.

Lavo, don't you think the empire could get an Allegiance Star Destroyer instead of the Imperial SD Command capital ship? If Lavo agrees, could you (Warb_Null) model one? That would be damn impressive! Ref pics: http://www.modelermagic.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/front_c4.jpg http://www.shatteredequinox.com/wiki/images/1/1e/AllegianceDestroyer.jpg http://wwwdi.ujaen.es/~lgonzaga/cursos/animacionflash/ejemplos/1/Allegiance%20Star%20Destroyer.jpg Oh and Lavo, maybe you could use the Azzameen family station as the trade port? Or perhaps an XQ2 station, if available.

I think it also act like a gencore when being bombarded. This happened to me a lot of time, when bombarding with a rating of one on a planet protected only with ion + troops. It is a cheap defense structure and faster to deploy. All in all, I've decided to build a lot of those to counter (ie: rebuild what has been destroyed) the sabotage missions the AI won't stop launching.

Don't worry, there wasn't much to comment

Okay, back on topic. Things have been slow in the last few days. Had Christmas parties and worked a lot. However, I've got a major new for you guys: Darth Tex sent me the planet position and it was almost perfect. After he does a few tweaks, I'll be that much closer to releasing something. Until then, I'm still working hard on those burns for ya guys. So far, I've got 7 done. Maybe I'll work on the fighters too, I'm not sure yet. Maybe I'll work again on the Alliance GUI, by the way. I did not show you the final product, because I think the way I worked made me lose some color informations and this is not advisable. It is quite dark and I think I can remedy that. I also plan on working some more on the load/save screen. It was a good experiment, but I think this could use a re-hauling. Ask for screenshots if you wish. Only problem is that it is hard to get a specific ship damaged and put him into hyperspace yet. The AI is a little bit weak (as it has always been...), so it is hard to let my ship be damaged.

Family base is the Azzameen's station. From X-Wing Alliance. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Azzameen_Station

When one plays "against the pirates", meaning they seek to eradicate them from the map with all civs except empire and new republic, does anybody have a strategy to kill them? I mean, besides from paying for them to keep 'em off your back....

When you modify textstra.dll, be sure both RebEd and Rebellion are closed. Furthermore, be sure you hit save before you close ressource hacker...
-
Not sure he tried the beta version, though...
-
Unfortunately, the AI is absolutely shoddy at empire management; it never moves it's homeworld to an urban planet as it should. Uh? What would this accomplish, if you don't mind sharing?

That would be a spam bot, wouldn't it?

Carrack build, ency and fleet has been redone. Will try to implement tactical too, but maybe I wont, because of the palette limitation. Carrack also has a new set of burns.
-
So far, I have 4 ships done and maybe a few more in the oven for tonight Imp Star mk1, Assault Frigate, Allegiance and CR-90 are done with the above mentionned method. I'll try to get some screenshots for you...
-
So I tried to use the Aubresh thing and it was confusing, so I used my first idea: the red damaged icon is smaller than the blue HS icon. Works pretty well. I think I'll do that for the fleet status too (hope the mechanism is the same here, IE the damaged burn overlap the hyperspace burn...

I know it is a Delta demo, I just wanted to point-out what appears to me to be a flaw in one of the models. No need to be jumpy, I am impressed with your work and I want to help you improve-it. Here's what I meant: http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/9118/engineu.png Number one is the correct one. I did not ask you to put exhaust trails, that's a bad choice of words I did, in reference of the conversation we had on exhaust for my own mod. Just a kind of modder's joke. I meant the actual engine color/skin. Take a look at number 2. That's what I was trying to express. I think the blue thing is not supposed to be like this, but like number one. Not at all. The Sins of a Galactic Empire mod has problems. Mainly, the Sins game was designed to work with Single core machines and my quad core has to use only one of its core to make the game work. When the game has too many assets to manage, the memory cache is overflowed and a window pops-up in the background and on this windows is written "Mini-dump", as in a memory dump. Nothing derogatory there, so no need to get upset. Well, I don't live in europe, so first, that would be CAD dollars, though that is just technical. As you have guessed, my monitor is not HD. Why the heck should I put a working monitor in the garbage just for your game. Hell, this computer runs Mass Effect 2 at max settings without any lags (and this game is pretty heavy for graphic cards...). My Nvidia GT 220 is not the hottest graphic card there is out there, but it cost me a hundred bucks at least and is good enough for just about any games that interest me. Sure, I'm not going to play high end games like Crysis 2, but my graphic card is far from outdated. So you have 2 choices: -either you support lesser definitions too (1280x1024 is pretty standard, and I think most user can use-it...) -Or you can not even support "legacy video cards". Whatever, I don't know all that much about screen resolution, but I know what I won't do: buy a new monitor and a new graphic card per year. that's just freaking waste and anti-environmental attitude and that's not the kind of stuff I stand for.

I did not mean the actual exhaust, sorry. I meant it seems like the skin is somewhat incomplete By the way, Evaders has a good point. SOGE itself is already a mini-dump fest (somehow improved lately, but still...), so it would be sad that this game be bugged...
