  1. It could be expected, couldn't it... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6953790.stm Not much to add
  2. Yeah, maybe, even probably. But what I like about Rebellion (as one of many points) - there has always been a way to countermeasure tactics, so to speak But: I, too, prefer games that build on strategy and not on firepower. That's lame. The point here is THAT IS POSSIBLE within the game's limits and therefore allowed
  3. I totally agree! After all, this is Star WARS, not Star KINDERGARTEN
  4. We are all so used to knowing the movies - but read this article about a BBC-reporter seeing Star Wars for the very first time - very funny: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6680279.stm And I know that today is the big celebration day - but I want to remind everybody that it's also "Towel Day" (yeah, use the force of Wikipedia) in memory of the great Douglas Adams!
  5. I just watched Episode 8 of the hilarious "Chad Vader - Day Shift Manager" - and interestingly enough there doesn't so far seem to be any thread about him here. Maybe I am wrong about this, but just to make sure - watch this: http://splu.net/chadvader.htm
  6. I remember a conversation with a guy with some knowledge about quantum-computers and wether we will ever see them. His statement: "In our lifetime or never!" That was some three years ago and there has been quite some progress. So I am very optimistic about the human race and its abillity to invent interesting stuff My guess: 250 years from now As for so long, we'll have some more good pictures to enjoy as it seems: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6645179.stm
  7. It seems there's more to come in the next years, take a look at this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6611557.stm That sounds *very* promising
  8. Well, maybe I was too subtly - my old problem - but probably "the most trusted name in news" (...) will do the trick: http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/05/02/iraq.scenarios/index.html By the way, let me make quite clear that this whole thread is no political statement of mine - neither for nor against a withdrawal. I would love to see it but I am afraid it would indeed cause a hell of a chaos
  9. May I speak for all of us, Sir, when I say: We try our very best
  10. In a nutshell: YEP!
  11. To all you gamers with a little experience: If I have a system in uprising and pull my troops out - I guess we all know what will happen definitely to the system and maybe even to the whole sector... Over the years and on several different occasions I have been amazed how much Rebellion is *not* just a game but in a way a 'life-simulation'. I guess that's the main reason I love it so much
  12. Yeah, it's amazing how fast progress is made in finding 'exo-planets'. I think there will be more fantastic discoveries within our lifetimes - I doubt, however, that we will live to see live pictures (via a probe) But who knows... 15 years ago scientest doubted that it would be possible at all to find these planets, so...
  13. I *love* THIS: http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/42841000/jpg/_42841511_jarjar203300.jpg
  14. Some of you might like this series of the BBC about ILM, start here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6584075.stm
  15. So - did anyway join the party? How was it? Do we have a winner?
  16. I am just old enough to have seen all movies in a cinema. ANH just blew that young kid I was by then. But my favorite memory is seeing Empire Strikes Back: I was ten years young back then and the very best moment was when there were Star Destroyers on the screen. To me it seemed that the big space of the cinema melted with the vast emptiness of space itself and then there was this rumble of the ISD and, of course, the Imperial March. Just one big sensual experience. Cinema has never been better
  17. Sorry, I'm a little late, but - I like this one: http://images.wikia.com/uncyclopedia/images/thumb/5/5e/ThatsNoMoonThatsWikipedia.jpg/350px-ThatsNoMoonThatsWikipedia.jpg
  18. Hey Eagle - it worked Thanx a million!
  19. I have a question, now that the topic has been brought up: How do I install an avatar in the first place? I just didn't find out so far Maybe someone could give me some advice...?
  20. Well, frankly, I like both, the avatar and the video Don't change anything!
  21. Damit - I didn't even think about that... I was just sooo upset about those 'results'... Anyway - go and vote
  22. I don't believe this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6517155.stm Go and vote for the *really* best sci-fi movie
  23. PLEASE - would anyone send me a postcard with one (ALL!) of THESE: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6506041.stm
  24. Yep, I experience that, too, using the latest Opera. But, yeah, it's not a 'biggy'
  25. Guys, take a look at this BBC-report: "Postboxes across the US are to be dressed up as Star Wars robot R2-D2 to celebrate 30 years since the release of the sci-fi series' first outing." Read the rest here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6457467.stm
