  1. I never tried bombarding my own planets, partly because I'd fear the Emperor's wrath but mostly because the manual says it is just not possible...
  2. I agree - it's hard to lose against the computer once you have at least the glimpse of an idea what you are doing However, I lost quite some games against human players... But that's where all the fun begins
  3. So, here's some more news about the upcoming series: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7048440.stm I especially like this: "They're [the TV-stations] saying, 'This doesn't fit into our little square boxes.' And I [Lucas] say, 'Well, yeah, but it's Star Wars."
  4. Well, since Pro7 had one of my other favorites, "Coupling" (watch it, even though it failed in the US), the Crowd might turn up there. I'd love to see it again. Thinking about it, it's a little strange, so it might go right to the Comedy Central Channel...
  5. @Eagle: the "IT-Crowd" is a British sitcom I had the chance to see a while ago. It's about, well, the two IT-guys of (I think) a big insurance company. They are placed in the basement - and almost forgotten there. My two favorite gags are: 1) Whenever the phone rings, one of the guys answers it with the line "IT here - have you tried turning it off and on again?" - and mostly that's all 2) When a fire breaks out in their office, one of the guys handles that with writing an e-mail to the fire-department...! Great stuff and as GAT rightly said: Go, watch it!
  6. @Thrawn: You know the "IT-Crowd"?! Isn't that hilarious stuff I've heard there's a secons season out - can you confirm that?
  7. Thanks a lot! That's great!
  8. This probably doesn't belong here - but, hell, it's worth a try ... and your chance to safely support a real rebellion: http://www.avaaz.org/en/stand_with_burma/h.php/?cl=20590691 Let your friends know about this site! Thanks for any support
  9. Well, to make a rather long story short: After some incidents with about 200 punks about ten years ago, the fountain is now 'guarded' and you cannot take the beer out yourself. You could for years but that's over. You get some fresh beer - but not taken from the fountain. That's just for the looks of it nowadays
  10. I am from Germany ... need I say more? Oh, I do?! Well, not only was my school very near to a brewery making us pupils smell that stuff (...beer...) all day, but that same town also has a fountain in which they put beer for three days a year for a big public party For those who don't believe me (AND speak German), eat this: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bierbrunnenfest cu there
  11. Ah, yes, I do Is that already possible and I just didn't notice? I get the 'regular' feed but that one doesn't include those new posts...
  12. I'd like to see new forums (as shown on the left side of the homepage) in the RSS-feed. That would be great
  13. Damn, how could I just forget that... I was seven or eight when I saw Ep IV in the local cinema (I am proud to have been one of the few of my generation to have seen them all in cinemas!) and life has never ever been the same Even though: I still recall ESB even more vivid!
  14. Yeah, that describes my feelings that night. And Tropic as basically just that hotel - nothing more for miles and miles... It remembered me so much of all the places in the "Friday 13th" movies that it was really scary... And I thought I was the only one to end up in such a mudhole...
  15. Cool. I'd like to see her face That room really was disgusting - and they are advertising a totally different building in the catalogues we saw... Thank you, Rob!
  16. Thanks a very lot, Rob If you (read: anyone of you) knows someone else who loves causing trouble - I won't stop anybody from sending a mail Just spread the word
  17. Oh, we've been to a lot of places and all were beautiful (well, execption see above) - it indeed was a great trip; great landscapes and great people. It was our third trip to the US (my fourth) but I am sure we'll come back If anyone wants to do me a favour: Send Mrs. Marie Jagger, manager of the Bryce Valley Inn in Tropic, an e-mail telling her that you found my site about her place. She hates it But, well, she also earns it - she behaved like an as...le! Adress is: bvibryce@yahoo.com - put her name in the subject line, that should bring up some attention
  18. No, I am serious - Vegas was a letdown (at least for me) The funniest thing was when I was nearly thrown out of "Ceasar's Palace", story goes like this: Any big building on the 'Strip' is a casino packed with slot-machines and gambling tables. Obviously due to some law, no-one under the age of 16 is allowed nearer than ten feet to these. On the other hand they build things to visit (like roller-coasters and cages with lions for example) right *at the end* of the building so you have to cross it. So, my family and me were on our straight way to some sort of 'must-see' when my girl-friend had to stop at a restroom. So there I was with our *ten-year old boy* some five feet away from the next table waiting for her to return. Within 30 seconds (!) the manager of the table started complaining I couldn't stand there with the boy. Well, I got really angry because of the stupidity of this and told him so. Luckily my girl came back that moment otherwise I guess they would have thrown me out Memories to keep...
  19. We're back Well, we're back for several weeks now, but I just wanted to thank anyone - especially DarthTex - who responded to my initial question about sight-seeing in Texas. Trip was great, except for: 1.) Las Vegas - sooo boring after just five minutes and 2.) this place near Bryce Canyon: http://brycevalleyinnsucks.dreipage.de/ Bryce Canyon itself was beautiful, though! Again - thanks to everybody !
  20. No, absolutely not. Actually, I came across the radio version first coincidentally and then read the books. [Then there was the BBC TV-series and the C=64 computer game, for the sake of completeness ] And I still love them - they showed me for the first time how to think out of the box - and have fun with it. Philosophy became a hobby of mine a little later and I think that the "Giude" is to blame And last but not least I did a lot of hitchhiking myself later on and met an awful lot of interesting people - all thanks to "H2G2"
  21. Well, when I was about ten years old I stumbled over Douglas Adams' book "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy". It enriched my life until today I am still reading it from time to time nowadays and can only recommend it to anyone. (However, stay away from the Hollywood movie - that was awful...) Oh, furthermore I read a lot of "Mad" magazines - and always loved the profound wisdom in the words "What? Me worry?"
  22. well ... I'm speechless... Has everybody gone mad?...
  23. WAIT A MINUTE... Where exactly did anyone say or write the sword will be jettisoned into space? I didn't find anything about that. The idea seems to be to bring it back - as far as I understand it. But maybe I just didn't get it - so please give me just one media source to make sure all the upset here is justified...
  24. Sorry, Tofu, but it HAS ALREADY been delievered: http://www.collectspace.com/news/news-082807a.html So get your party together FAST
  25. Good PR for both: NASA has agreed to take the original lightsaber of Luke Skywalker into space with the next Shuttle lunch: http://cbs5.com/topstories/local_story_240173031.html I guess they'll both, Lucas and NASA, are going to make this one hell of a show, maybe SWR.com should be following these events with some kind of 'special coverage'?! By the way: I recommend http://www.spacetoday.net for not missing anything on this and other space related news.
