All that talking about Empire at War made me ask a friend if he would lend me his copy for a couple of days to give it a try. Had just tried the demo before and I didn´t liked it, so I wasn´t very surprised when I finally tried the full version that I still don´t think that this game is really cool. At first the ground-battles are very annoying and unballanced. For example if there´s a battle infantry against infantry this seems to take ages untill there´s finally a winner. Even with quite a number of tie-maulers it´s very hard. So I failed to win even the very first ground-battle in the campaign. But I thought, there´s still the skirmish-mode, which allows you to have just space-battles. The ships look of course pretty nice, but I´m very disappointed about the fact that it´s impossible to build up at least a nice small fleet to crush the enemy. That´s because the maps are much too small. All in all it reminded me of a poor copy of the battles in "Star Trek - Armada" (Blasphemie! I know ). But that game gave you at least the opportunity to build up a nice fleet, no matter what size, you were only limited by your ressources. But EAW just says "No" at a point. So all you can do is build a bigger vessel like fe a Mon Calamari Cruiser or a SD and some smaller ships and that´s it. Ergo: This game is just another example for a title which had lots of potential. Beginning with the really nice looking space battles (The ground battles don´t look that good in opposite. Those crappy infantry modells look like modells from the first Empire Earth game) and ending with the option to conquer the whole galaxy. If I think of all the options you´ve got in Rebellion compared to those simple actions you only can do in the galaxy management in EAW, I have to say that this game is just Fast-Food and nothing more.

"I´ll never join you!" This could be only the idea of someone who is still in his teenages and has no beard yet. I´ve got a very strong beard and have to shave myself at least once a day and this takes up to 10 minutes each time. But I still prefer shaving myself instead of wearing a beard.

Wasn´t there an episode of "Married with Children" where Peggy Bundy and Marcy Darcy were sitting in a taxi and the arab taxi-driver drove much too fast, because he believed "if you drive faster, you´ll come nearer to Allah"? I guess these guys take that much too serious.

Indeed those kind of games like Half Life, Doom etc. are called Ego-Shooter over here. I used this term because the term "first person-shooter" didn´t came into my mind. I didn´t wanted to say that people who play games like that are egos. Allthough as a Battlefield-Player I know a lot who just look for their own score.

Maybe I shall give it another try on my next visit at easter. But than I have to mobilize my two other nephews who were playing MMORPGs and ego-shooters at that time when I was playing "Mario Party" with my other nephew.

Well I allways felt that this movie was kinda overhyped, so when I saw it for the first time I wasn´t very convinced. If it should be a John Belushi Movie than I rather prefer "Animal House" or "1941", which are both very hilarious. But I see that there´s just one way to make you join me on the funny side of the force by using the old tradition of fighting it out in a lightsabre-battle. http://www.world-of-smilies.com/wos_starwars/starwars023.gif

Looks pretty neat and gory. But what´s with all that singing??? I don´t like singing in movies. That´s also one reason why I don´t like Blues Brothers.

I´m quite sure that it wouldn´t be my cup of tea, even under such kind of sircumstances, Mad. I actually would have loved to play something like tennis with my nephew.

Found this site recently, where a guy rants about all the SW Movies. The prequells aswell the special edition of the OT. It´s very funny and entertaining to read, so if you´ve got some spare time left take a look at it.

I´ve visited my sister a couple of days ago and there I had a match of Mario Party or what it was called on the Wii with one of my nephews. Maybe it´s because my age, but I felt that game very boring. So that match didn´t last that long.

I´m able to type now for over 20 years and so I´m able to do other things. Even when I´m typing in a foreign language.

Maybe they were getting hot on Hoth. I´ve been inspired by that news for that story mentioned in the randomness-thread where ElvisMiggell captured Santa. And that´s what happened next. Merry Christmass to you all!

After the destruction of the droid-controll ship, Vader´s Victory Star Destroyer set down into Ando´s atmosphere with back up of the remaining cruisers. When it came down to 300 feet the destroyer launched it´s troop carriers for the final ground attack.
