  1. How did I miss this entire thread?
  2. You can try emailing or PMing peeps from the old team. Some of them may still answer. I haven't downloaded it; haven't done much with Rebellion in awhile. I was thinking about it last night; I may reinstall again. Is your mod hosted here somewhere?
  3. I never have. Haven't done much graphic design, and never created any cards. I wouldn't even be trying to help you figure this out, except there isn't really anybody else on these forums anymore. Sorry, I'm all you've got. This article may or may not be what you are talking about. I'm not entirely sure.
  4. Sounds good. Thanks for looking into it.
  5. Agreed, that does give by far the best results. Are you sure that works? How does it convert it to the other palette? At first glance, I'd bet this is where the problem is, and when you take vakundok's program it actually does the conversion, leading to the lost information when you re-extract it. I know of a website that lets you control the amount of information in a picture. You upload it and manipulate settings to get things right. Supposed to be for controlling image size (bit size, not appearance) for webpage publishing, but it lets you change both appearance size and quality. The quality controls directly effect the number of colors displayed. I would suggest trying something like this to take the reference pic and convert it pre-pasting. See if that gives better results. There is probably a better program/site that does what I just described. I can't even find the URL for the one I used. Here is a list of candidates, and another list. That first list has more options that users posted in the comments section, in addition to the twelve and the eight of the two respective lists. PS may have the option to do this as well, but I don't own PS, so couldn't say for sure. Of course, an easy way to do this would be to save the reference pic as a .gif, which is limited to 256 colors. Unless Rebellion really does limit lower than that, as you mentioned earlier, in which case you'll have to use a setting in some program or website to limit it further.
  6. That's good to know about the outbox. Still can't change my email. Following your link, I can click on "Info", and change my email there- and the change persists. But I still don't get notifications (as in, replies to threads I'm subscribed to don't reach me). So I find that under Profile -> Edit account settings, it still lists my old email. And that's the place where if I try and change it, I'm told my password is incorrect.
  7. If you shrank the image size, would that reduce color loss? Smaller image, smaller draw on game resources. Then again, I'm not even sure that's possible (to shrink the image size Rebellion displays in tactical battle). And obviously that only works if the image is using the 80 colors the game allows (or however many). I read up on the z-buffer, and no longer believe it has any effect on your current issue. I remembered part of what it did, but not the details. Here are the details: Check it out. And here as well.
  8. There is a limit on how much information can be displayed in battle. The z-buffer. I'm not sure if this directly affects the planet graphics or only ships. I do know that in Rebellion, its hardcoded and cannot be changed, and unfortunately very limited. I'd say more if I knew more. Sorry
  9. For some reason, I can't change my email. Keeps telling me my password is wrong. Pretty sure its right, since I use it to login with. Also, I can't send PMs anymore. They just sit in my Outbox and don't ever go anywhere. I have one in there from Feb, and another that I tried to send today (to you, Evaders) that also hasn't gone anywhere. Neither message shows up in my Sent folder. Suggestions?

Rebellion isn't easy to find, but its easier than trying to get Metal Fatigue
  11. Very nice work. Both of the Jade pictures are good, and I liked the first Jerec, the Rendar, spec ops, Dorja (definitely like Dorja's), Zekk, Dessan, Kota, and Fett all look great! Zolay Nessis: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3189 See also http://www.swrebellion.com/forums/postlite3063-.html Zolay (original name: Kara) was a Lt. Commander. Trained as a navigator and intelligence operative, recruited by the Empire. Had a deep hatred for criminals. Another non-canon appearance shows Zolay Nessis as a Commander, the pilot for a Commander Jax. Jax had a personal shuttle, a TIE SENTINEL, built on the Arc Hammer, and Nessis was the pilot. http://www.brickhorizon.com/boardz/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25
  12. Install an old 32 bit version of Windows (like XP or 2000) in VMware Player. Then you can load 'em up. Also makes running Rebellion easier.
  13. This is a great guide. I will probably use it for several games I have running in VMware. Another suggestion: use a second monitor. My laptop is hooked to a standard monitor (not widescreen). Put VMware on that monitor, change that screen's resolution to match the game (Catalyst allows that, for ATI users), and play away. No black bars or additional programs required, but you do have to change the resolution more frequently instead of just loading the shortcut. But your main screen becomes a great means for showing guides, walkthroughs, maps, or other resources.
  14. Personally, I think carriers are the best ships in the game. Loaded with 6 squads of fighters, they can do most anything. Cheap, quick to build, rarely damaged in combat, available without research and to both sides, and flexible for any mission type- simply load up the right fighters. As you research better fighters, your carriers become more effective (and without being built anew). With carriers, fighters become the most effective weapon in the game; cheap, quick to build, extremely effective when concentrated, great for defense, hard to sabotage, and load up your system defense into carriers for an instant attack force. Their only drawback is their need for escort. With a proper number of carriers with fighters, they do more than enough damage, but they can't take diddly-squat. A single heavy cruiser can wipe out carrier after carrier in very little time. I've used fleets of carriers with whatever other capital ships I can scrounge up for escort. Even Corvettes can keep the fire off carriers long enough for fighters to do their thing in smaller battles. And in larger battles... well, 300 fighters can do a lot before enemy warships can get into range of the carriers. Assuming they even bother; often opponents will target the fighters as the real threat, ignoring the carriers altogether. That said, if you think of the carrier and fighters as a combo rather than a single unit, then the Nebulon B is definitely a contender for best all-purpose warship. The Corellian Gunship is great as a scout ship, support ship, or anti-fighter ship, but can't compete in an all-around comparison with the Nebulon because the Nebulon also sports fighter bays and turbolasers. One of my favorite ships is actually the Imperial Assault Transport. Cheap, super-fast hyperdrives, powerful lasers, and with troop regiments, these guys can take frontier worlds without backup. Bring a few operatives, load up on assault troops, and six-eight of these can take most planets which lack cruiser protection.
  15. Thanks for the links. I'll look through the guides later, and incorporate some of their tips into my own guide (if I ever get around to finishing it).
  16. What tool are you using to make the changes?
  17. I'm way stoked for ME3 as well. The first two were some of my favorites, and I'm excited to see the changes to several of the characters. Elder Scrolls V. Will it be awesome? I hope so. The reboot of Tomb Raider looks sweet as well, but I can't say I've ever played more than the demo of the first one. I'm not a huge follower of the series, but perhaps the changes will change my opinion. I don't think Deus Ex 3 was at E3, but its a game I'm very, very much looking forward to. And as a sidenote, Notch was at E3, and has announced a planned mobile version and separate Xbox 360 version of Minecraft, each one built from the ground-up for its new format. I don't particularly care, as I like my PC gaming, but its interesting to see such a game expand into other market segments.
  18. AH! Well, I feel better about life. It makes sense again, at least in a small part.
  19. I would so play you, if only I ever had time. And this semester for me is my busiest yet. Come the end of July and into August, I may have time.
  20. That was AWESOME! Just sayin'.
  21. *cough* Dust... its choking me... Anybody know why I got an email saying this thread had a new post?
  22. Do you still have a copy of this utility, Dire? The link is broken and I'd really love to tinker with this sometime.
  23. True, I didn't take into account the "more resources found" events. I'm cursed; I never get those. In the decade I've played Rebellion, I think I've had that happen to me twice. No joke. I suspect its partially because I try and get the planets with lots of energy already, and partially because the core worlds have a lower chance of it happening (which is where I focus most of my attention), and partially because I never leave empty space on planets. To be honest though, I've only had the disaster happen a dozen times or so in the same time period. Do the odds increase the longer a game becomes? Because My games tend to last between 1000-2000 days, though I believe other players' last longer.
  24. Still nothing from Wayne, and my attempts to reach Doug and Scott seem to have failed as well. I'd try other approaches or more searching online, but life is busy. I just had finals, and my new semester just began- with one of the most, if not the most, intensive program our college offers. I'm going to be very, very busy this next semester. I'll make time to try anything people suggest, but I won't have time to try new internet searches.
  25. I think those are on the site, in the textures area (click RebEd in the toolbar links above, click models, click textures area at the upper part of the screen). I can't verify that right now, as I'm at school and they've blocked that portion of the site for "gaming".
