  1. You lost me on the Star Trek stuff, but I did some research and here is a direct quote taken from the FAQ at http://www.mormon: The key difference is the part that I have bolded. Christians believe that faith alone is what gets you salvation: works do not. The 'works' are a result of a Christian doing his/her best to please God, not because you get fried if you don't. And as an aside, I know lots of 'non-religious' people who follow the same moral code. The laws of most countries follow the Ten Commandments for the most part. Following the Ten Commandments is both self and community preservation. Lying and stealing cause detrimental results. Murder lessens the number of people. Adultery destroys families. And so on and so forth. Well, there beeth the Mormon question's answer. Sorry it to so long, but I had to do some looking and have the time to do it in. There's lots of other stuff that's not Biblical, but this is probably the most important thing.
  2. sSo Dparath Tomfu, Yomu havee lotrs Just to make absolutely sure. ;)
  3. Of Ghandi and Buddha I leave to a more experieced, more learned Christian than I too explain. I could explain it, but not as well as it could be done, and it wouldn't help anyone's understanding of Christianity, so for now I shall not comment. However, you seem to have missed the jist of what I said before. Waht I listed as the basic beliefs is what somebody who is about to die needs to know. The part you seem to be looking for is the second most basic thing about Chrisitanity and is essentially thus, though some of this is considered implications of other parts and not often discussed, it seems obvious to those who understand, tohugh not so much to those who): Because God has given the gift of Eternal Life we 'owe a debt' to Him that we obviously can never repay. We can try, but it won't work. But we should try and we do by obeying the Ten Commandments and doing what He tells us to do, through the Bible or a personal message, such as a 'calling' or urging of sorts to say-go on a missions trip, help soembody up after they trip, defend the loner from the 'cool people,' stand up to bullies, choose a certain career type, or as in my current case, teach you guys everything I can about Christianity, what it is, what is isn't, and so on and so forth. And to you who claim to have held faith in God or whatnot, but don't for some reason now, this I must say: Did you really ever have that faith at all in the first place? Shouldn't you, if you really believed, upon having doubts attempt to get them resolved? I'm not saying none of you have, but it seems to me that on some things some of you didn't try all that hard, to put it lightly. (Some of you seem to have thought much about this, however.) It is in fact the integrity of your former faith I am questioning here, and I will not hide that fact. Please do not find that offensive, but the very hair trigger angry response(s) I am seekign to avoid coan sometimes indicate that perhaps the questioner in such instances as these has hit upon something that the receiver of the questions should think about before responding. Such it is with me; I do my best to check a 'hairtrigger' angry response often indicates a fault with my thinking or somethign I really need to think about in deatil, often soemthing I need ot pray about.
  4. sSo Dparath Tomfu, Yomu havee lotrs (of time to waste, huh?) I Googled for a place to download the manual for Rebellion (As I didn't get mine new), aand ended up here, instead. Ah vell...
  5. Jonaray, glad I'm not alone. EDIT: Good, (Biblical) explanation, Jonaray. You are better at this than I. Regarding Mormons, they may be dictionary-Chrisitains, but they are not Christians. Believing in God does NOT mean you are a Chrisitan. To quote a Bible passage: Even the demons believe that God exists, and they fear and tremble. And so, I have finally decided to distill Christianity down to the ABSOLUTE most basic. Everything other than this, is, relative to this, USELESS, WORTHLESS, and NOT WORTH MY TIME. Not saying the other stuff isn't important, but this is the most important of all, by far. The Basic Beliefs of a Christian. I believe that God exists. I believe that we are all sinners; nobody's perfect; the penalty of Sin is Death (Hell.). I believe that God loves us. I believe that we can never be good enough to go to Heaven. I believe that God decided to rectify that by sending His Son, His perfect Son, as a sacrifice for our sins. I believe that anyone, ANYONE, who believes thus and asks Jesus to take away our sins and live within him/her will not go to Hell, REGARDLESS of what they have done, or who they are, or if they are led astray. It CANNOT be undone. The will go to Heaven. Everything other than that is 'extra,' the dessert to the main course, the icing on the cake, the auxilaries of the rebular army, the footnotes to the essay, the...you get the point. Other than what I have wrote above there is alot of other 'core' stuff, but this is the most important part, the part that matters most, the part that to exclusion of all else is enough.
  6. I have to say a most definate NO. They are not. Whether they worship Jesus or not (andd I think not, though I will need to double-check that to be absolutely sure), they are NOT Christians. 'worshipping Jesus', even if they do, does not mean that they are Christians. This is where religious-speak starts being somewhat important. I could go into a bunch of reasons why they are not, but A) I need to double check and make sure I don't confuse some with somebody else and B) I'm taking a momentary break of a nasty math project, so I can't at the moment. I will consider doing it later, however.
  7. Well, most most people think most religions are hereditary, but Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Mormonism and a couple I can't remember at the very least seem to assume that if your parents are such, you are too. Some forms of Catholicism (and this is one of the reasons why I distinguish myself as 'Not-Catholic', tohugh I see no reaosn to be any more specific about my Christianity, because its really lal the same,) also seem to think that it is hereditary, forgetting or ignoring what the Bible says on the subject. Oh and as to the "God.....", I'm glad that they say that. Alot of Christians swear or occasuonally say things like that, and sayign such things like "God ......" is called taking God's name in vain, and rather offensive to Christians (and Jews) everywhere. I personally just merely ask everyone I hear or read over the Net sayign stuff like that to please watch their language. I also often do that for other forms of swearing, mostly because after listening to alot of that I end up thinking it which is very close to saying it. It is also why I have spent quite abit of time learning how to say sometihng is bad without swearing and every now and again take a refresher course on SW insults. Oh, and a large number of Chinese people are not atheists, regardless of governmental decree. Many are Christians, though some are Budhists or mystics. The fastest growing group in China, or predominantly any place on Earth suffering alot of oppression, are Christians.
  8. Crespin makes a good point. Unlike many religions, Christianity is not hereditary. Anyone can choose to become or not become a Christian. Oh, just for future reference, when shortening my username I much prefer Psych to Psycho. Well to answer your question, you indirectly said that Christianity is blind obedience ot God with no thoughht of anytihng else. I knew you were cracking a joke, but (such as in the Davinci Code), soime people might have thought that it was a statement based on fact. I'm not offended. And no, I have not seen or heard anything about that case recently.
  9. I agree with Thrawn. (Taken out of context, imagine the implications.) This discussion is getting off track. Oh, and Tofu, Christianity is not what you said it to be. Oh and Crspin, just ofr future reference, what does space have to do with Christianity?
  10. I empathize with you on the tone of voice thing. Its ny impossilbe to say something without it being able to be construed as an insult. I've been having that same problem at SWRPGNetwork lately.
  11. No, it used to be a patriotic poem. There's nothing poetic about it. Oh, and I never said that history sshouldn't be studied, History is one of my favorite things TO study. Its just that Canadian history is INDREDIBBLY boring, exempting the War of 1812. Stupid Proctor, Canada coulda owned a whole American state if he hadn't given up without a fight and lost Brock's legacy...
  12. I didn't condemn you last time, but if that's how 'constructive informing' is taken, maybe I should. But I won't. I will, however, request that in future all parties concerned do not automatically assume the worst about everything. Oh, and BTW, its Psych not Psycho. Oh, and I hate to break an awful lot of bubbles, but your good ol' Pledge of Allegiance was in existance long before it became such. And it was in existance long before it was changed to read Americans instead of my people. And it wasn't there at your Confederation. The original author of your Pledge resisted each and every (and their were many) alteration and use witohut asking until his death. Well whaddayaknow, American history is just as boring as Canadian history.
  13. Let me clarify a few things, just to make sure. The Jewish Holy Book is the Torah, as as a matter of fact, the books of law in it are also in the Bible. Catholics and Protestants are just groups of Christians whose secondary beliefs (regarding church and a few other things) are different. (Somewhat like Shi'ites and Sunni's. Somewhat) In general, the Protestants are more biblical, but there are exceptions in both groups. Regardless, the best way to find out about Christianity is to read the Bible. Preferably more than one translation, and older translations are generally better. I could explain why in detail if someone wished it, but suffice to say it involves the fact tat most translations of the Bible are now published by decxidedly anti-Christian publishers who take verses and words out or twist them more and more as time goes on. Methodists, AFAIK, consider themselves Christian and fall under Protestant. So do, incidentally, Presbyterians, Lutherans, (AFAIK) Mennonites and so on and so forth. Bible Churches and Community Churches and non-affiliated churches tend to be more Protestant than Catholic, and tend to have fewer non-Biblical stupid rules and customs. Satanists worship Satan and as such they like 'Under God' alot less than atheists. Actually, seeing as I'm Canadian, would somebody mind typing up the Pledge of Allegiance and psoting it cause I've never read it before.
  14. Basically Dark Nest, limited in NJO, and most stuff by Zahn.
  15. If I was American I'd fight him tooth and nail every step of the way. As it is, I support anyone who is.
  16. I officially have enough Clawcraft stuff to do as many clawcraft cards as would ever want. Ad to finding mine own pics-the reason I appealed for help is that that hasn't been very effective, and I am no artist. And unskilled in cardmaking.
  17. As long as you know not to judge Christiansas a whole-or any group, religious or otherwise-by a few people who say they are members-whether they are or not-I remain unoffended.
  18. Who said that? I strongly doubt that (whether they said they were or not) they were in fact Christians, at the very least they'ver fallen off the deep end. So who said that horrible piece de junk? Ya know, everybody would be better off if even half of the people who claim to be Christian were, in fact, Christians. Including those who go to church or whatnot.
  19. Well whaddaya know...it works. (Somehow I'd expected sometihng complicated...silly me!)
  20. So then its probably best for the number of total eithers plus any one side does nto equal more than thirty, is what you are saying. (I know I could count...but I could also be lazy. How many chars per side?)
  21. I'm looking for REALISTIC Chiss and Chiss related cards/models- -Clawcraft -alternate Thrawn, -various Chiss -Chiss Fleet Regiment -Chiss army regiment -Jag Fel/Baron Soontir -Chiss Star Destroyer -Miscellaneous Chiss warships -anything else related to the Chiss and the Empire of the Hand. Thanks in Advance, Psych.
  22. So regarding the check boxes, if one side recruits all the characters I make two sided, and hits thirty, does that mean a character specific to that side can't be recruited? And if soembody dies, can you recruit another eligible minor char?
  23. I hereby volunteer for game testing.
  24. Ahhh! Progress! There IS in fact something else I might be able to do! Well, lets see... I... can do game testing, can't do DLL (don't know how) can't do graphics (same reason) can offer compliments and flattery if required, can dig up hard to find information (for encyclopedia entries, or realistic character statting, for example, if needed) can (and already do) try to direct Rebellion fans to the site, including former SWAGers can come up with ideas and use creativity to solve problems (useful for gametesting, methinks) can theoretically do something else not on the list because I don't know what you need. With Regards, Psych.
  25. Maybe I should have spent more time on my first post...that's very much what I was trying to say. If only the longtimers weren't so anti-new people, always thinking the worst. Well, not everybody's like that, to be fair. With Regards, Psych.
