  1. Nice work Mad, though it seems a little familiar... We are the borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ship. You will be assimilated. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. (I know, always a joker.)
  2. *COUGH*DOUBLEPOST*COUGH* http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Defender_16/Motivational/partybalance.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Defender_16/Motivational/operative.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Defender_16/Motivational/motivator-Cold_Iron.jpg
  3. I just had the most incredible Supreme Commander CPU skirmish match. Me and 3 CPU vs 4 other CPUs. Two landmasses with a landbridge like in the Trailers. I stopped the other day after securing an impenetrable defense on my side of the bridge with overlapping shields, artillery, and land battleships. My initial attempt to batter my way through the hoards clashing out on the landbridge failed due to lack of air suport and attacks by Giant Tech-4 Experimental Gunships. http://www.supremecommander-alliance.com/uploads/RTEmagicC_Cybran_GunshipExp.jpg.jpg My more dedicated attack involved continuious re-enforcement of Interceptors along with several Battleships moving along the coast. Several of my Fatboy land battleships rolled along the bridge, stopping to produce tanks or AA units as necessary. I made sure to do that fairly often. http://www.supremecommander-alliance.com/uploads/RTEmagicC_min_UEF_FatBoy.jpg.jpg My CPU allies also threw their own Fatboys into the mix and soon more than seven of the beasts were rolling over the first enemy base. Things actually became more difficult after that, with our forces spreading out to do battle with the remaining 3 enemies. The air attacks continued and attacks by tech 3 ground units were commonplace. I sent my navy north to destroy the computer's main shipyards and concentrated my ground forces to the east. I fast became bogged down again as I and the enemy fought for control of a vital hill that would let me bombard the edges of the base or allow strikes at my Fatboys now parked and acting more as factories. With air and ground attacks on our center threatening to cut off my forward most ground forces decisive action was needed. I ued one of the Nuclear Missiles I'd been able to build at great cost and hit the seaward side of the enmy base. The explosion vaporised most of the computer's power generators and much of their defense. With their economy broken my tanks were able to use a Pincer movement to at last secure the hill which turned out to be ideal for turret defenses. My Allies soon crushed one of the other computers and I moved in to kill the final one. http://www.gamer.nl/images/content/Erwie/200607/1152810693_0_4.jpg My seige assault bots swept through the valley that opened into the enemy base and destroyed most of their pitiful defenses in moments. My seige bots charged into the gap only to be massacred by allied super-long range artillery. Friendly fire was something that they would pay for dearly. I finished off the rest of the base then launched my counter attack on the foul ones that had onces proclaimed themselves as being on my side. My nulear attack was swift and devastating. All three enemy commanders, some seven Fatboys and multiple Support Commanders were all gone after my four missiles had struck. My Battleships sunk the enemy flagship, a large submersible Carrier. Despite that though it wasn't enough. http://www.gamereplays.org/community/uploads/post-67077-1164151673_thumb.jpg Survivors of the nuclear strike swept through my old base like a wave. The old defense line was hit by a group of support commanders who took down the formerly impressive shielding. My command unit was caught by gunships and half my army was soon out of action. The Navy which at first seemed near victory was thrown back with damage too severe to risk continuing. The secondary base which had been built to supply my forward armies with seige bots came under artillery and naval bombardment within minutes of my main bases destruction. I now had no power to maintain the shileds on my huge factory tanks or resources to build units or new powerplants. My last battleship at 5k/60k hp fled out to sea beyond the sensor range of my new enemy my remining fatboy I moved inland away from the dangers of the battleships. Through some luck I still had 4 Engineers, 7 Interceptors some mobile AA and my Fatboy was a 2 star Veteran allowing regeneration. What followed could only be described as a miracle. My engineeers salvaged resources from some of the hundreds of destroyed hulks belonging to vehicles or buildings nearby. In some cases I even zapped trees for more material. All of it to get me a simple LV1. powerplant. Then I did all of that again just to build one mass extractor. It continued on, my having started over from scratch again while the big guns on my Vet' Fatboy held off attacks by apparently not-so-determined ground forces. So, yet what had to have been close to an hour after the fiasco started I had enough power to use shields again. After that I repelled multiple attacks by single Fatboys moving to attack my position as well as some air attacks and other small raids. The fast firing land battleship guns took down any comers though. An hour later I had 4 more Fatboys, missile defense, additional aircover, and I had repaired my battleship. My new base had shields and hill top artillery and Sam's to protect it. My scouting runs discovered the the enemy must have suffered worse from my nuclear attack than I'd thought for they had done little rebuilding with the exception of their navy. Now I prepare for the great crusade, an invasion of the other shore to take back that which was lost. The unit cap of 250 only gives me even greater strength for I can simply wait longer to build bigger behind my impenetrable shield wall of factory tanks. (OMG took me an hour to write that! See why I dont do NSO so often?) EDIT2: Added nuke img.
  4. Well they're sure as heck not Imperial so they're going under Rebel.
  5. As somone once said: "I only speak two languages, English and bad english!" Admittedly I know I could benifit from another couple of languages or so. Though I can recognise a few words in French, Dutch, German, Japanese and Chinese.
  6. Those quad lasers are SO illegal in most Imperial star systems you wont believe how fast you'll have Star Destroyers after you. Imperial Squadron Icons a-la Thrawn's Armada. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Defender_16/ImperialStarfighterIcons.gif I'm working on the Rebel ones but that's going to take longer because of the Uglies.
  7. My head spins after reading that. More car talk than most of my time in shop class combined. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Defender_16/Motivational/Rangermotiv.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Defender_16/Motivational/proficiencymotiv.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Defender_16/Motivational/poster-CNJayne.jpg

    Books

While I must say that compared to most novels I read the writing in Starship Troopers felt a little dry. Other that that it was an excelent read. Other than a few minor things standing out I would have said right away that it could have been written anytime in the past 15 years. Now all we need is a REAL movie or mini-series based off the novel. EDIT: Wait, wait, wait. Havent we all gone over this before?
  11. Since I seem to have come into a wealth of these things I'll throw a few more out here. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Defender_16/Motivational/Throw.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Defender_16/Motivational/rogueip5.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h293/Defender_16/Motivational/sterility.jpg
  12. I try Mad. Books

Just about finished reading Storm of the Dead, part 2 of the Lady Penitent series. http://www.o-love.net/realms/head_lad.html And in the mail today, more than 2 weeks early I got my copy of "The Orc King." http://paizo.com/image/product/catalog/WOC/WOC9598672_500.jpeg Even after $10 Dollars shipping & Handling it was still cheaper to buy it online from the US than buying it here in Canada.
  14. OMFG! Is this a post!? Because it looks suspiciously and remarkably like a post! + + + Hyperspace streamed past the false viewports that were projected onto the walls showing space outside the ship. Dorja leaned over the planning table in the confrence room located several decks below the bridge. He repetedly tapped an icon on the map representing the last Interdictor enforced checkpoint the fleet had established. All had been deployed without incident and had right away started pulling civillian ships from hyperspace. The ships maintaining the checkpoints had been ordered to render as much medical assistance to civilians as possible. In most cases the medics would really be checking for signs of Viruses or Alien infiltrators. While the Civilians at Garqi had apparently been altered under controlled circumstances they couldn't rule out that the invaders might try to infect a large population to cause more problems. Colonel Fel walked in with his Tie Pilot's helmet under one arm. He noticed the Admiral's concentration. "Worried about leaving so few ships at the checkpoints sir?" Dorja shook himself out of his daze. "Not worried by it per-se Colonel, but I am somewhat bothered by it." Jag nodded believing he understood what the Admiral meant but not commenting on if further. Dorja chose to break the silence before it started to drag. "We passed out of hypercom range from the Fleet's transmitter ships an hour ago now. We're back into the void again it seems. I want our pilots as rested as possible from now on but keep up the simulation runs. How are the new pilots doing by the way?" "The current Simulation results are what I would still deem unsatisfactory, especially for the sort of extended mission we're looking at." He handed the Admiral a datapad. The older man scrolled through the figures and frowned heavily. "You're quite right, these are unnaceptable losses. Sixty percent in the first engagement and it only gets worse as we lose our fighter cover... damn." He handed the pad back to Fel. "I have been able to pick out a core group of Pilots that have the skills to make it through Sir. I've moved them over to our heavier fighters in the hopes of keeping them alive longer. Most of the lesser skilled pilots are only a few months out of the academies. With some more time I believe better than half of them will come up to the levels we need." "Always a matter of how much time we have isnt it?" "Yes sir. All of our active squadrons are now arranged into shield groups. It's still proving to be the most effective combination in simulators." Dorja nodded an downed a glass of water he'd been keeping nearby. "If any of your pilots have more suggestions about tactics to use against these Vong I want to hear them. Dont bother screening them I want as many ideas as possible. I've got Commander Taulen talking to the Gunnery crews and his Stormtroopers." "Understood. If there's anything else sir?" "No that's all Colonel, dismissed." "Sir." Jag saluted and marched towrds the door. "Colonel." Jag stopped. "Sir?" "Keep up the good work. I'll see you make General by the end of the year. Once the door had closed behind Jag, Dorja called up the Ardent's biohazard containment protocols and started looking for weaknesses in the system. "If these Vong like to use bio weapons they're not taking my ship by supprise." + + + I'll see you make General by the end of the year. General by the end of the year... General by the end of the year... The words echoed through Jag's head. Surely he'd always wanted to attain a high rank at some point, but the casulties bound to be suffered in that time were likley to be staggering. There was no way to be certain he wouldnt be one of them. Without any real way of controling that though he resolved to do the best he could with the situation as always. If he happened to survive or die so be it. He'd faced death before, now with this mission it was time to willingly walk into it's clutches and hope for the best. 077

  19. I've been playing Supreme Commander for the past few days. It has some crash issues on the larger maps if you get too many units but on the smaller maps it plays fine. I have to say the nukes effects are some of the best I've ever seen. Also I love following the arc of the longer ranged artillery as it hurtles across the map.
