  1. For the AI, have you tried to "over power" the enemy capital ships abit, so they are abit more deadly and have a chance in combat? AI fleet management totally sucks, more on the Alliance side than the Empire IMO, but sucking still sucks regardless. And if you limit the researchable ships down to just a few good combat capital ships, this might also help. Just my two bits worth; Have fun!
  2. I fired up Battlefront on the ol' PS2 the other day; Whoa! am I out of practice or what? The controls feel so weird and out-of-sync; I barely pulled out a victory, but it was definitely fun Can't wait until III comes out, I just hope my expectations don't kill the "fun" of the actual game
  3. Good Luck to both of you (Darth Rob & Master Xan) on getting jobs. I know it's tough out there, but hang in and don't give up. It might take awhile but will definitely be worth it in the end.
  4. For those who like a bit of "fantasy/history" mix, try the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. Basically it's a "what if dragons were alive" and takes place in the early 1800's England at the start of the Napoleonic Wars. Follow on books follow the main characters with their adventures around the world. I enjoyed them all so far I read Ender's Game recently for the first time. It was a bit "deep", and the story had some "weird" aspects. But I enjoyed it; I'm going to try and read "Speaker of the Dead" next, although I have no idea if that is the next book to read or not. I've heard other people talk about it before (mostly Master Xan), but probably wouldn't have read it at all if not for seeing the movie trailer. As for Terry Brook's Shannara series, I made it through the first two series, but the final books seem to have taken it out of me. Now there is another half dozen series, and I just don't know if it's worth investing the time for all of those books. Any advice? I much preferred his Magic Kingdom of Landover series. I liked them abit better
  5. Somethings I noticed while surfing the web ... http://imageshack.us/scaled/thumb/844/yodaandhulk.jpg http://imageshack.us/scaled/thumb/27/droidsp.jpg
  6. Build more refineries IF you have a surplus of RAW MATERIALS; otherwise you need to build more mines AND refineries. Refineries only work on RAW MATERIALS, so if you don't have any RAW MATERIAL surplus then extra refineries just waste your time and resources. Optimally you want to have an equal number of mines and refineries, for maintenance points and to minimize RAW MATERIAL surplus. Having a REFINED MATERIALS surplus is a HUGE bonus (anything you want to build, within limits, would take the minimum amount of time to build). So: 1) try to have an equal number of mines and refineries, 2) if you have a RAW MATERIAL surplus build more refineries (when the surplus is gone goto rule 1), 3) if production drags build MORE mines and refineries. Good Luck!
  7. To the right of the character picture (cropped by your screen) are two buttons: LOAD and CANCEL. If you can figure out how to get the entire screen to display, you can LOAD your new "characters". You didn't mention what OS you're using, so I can only assume the problem lies with this "old game" and modern day OS video drivers or something. I run Rebellion "windowed" (as opposed to full screen); maybe try that with RebEd? Just my two bits worth. Good Luck!
  8. Does your error message look like this? http://imageshack.us/scaled/medium/203/invalidpixelformat.png I'm running Rebellion "windowed" in XP; I just click "OK" (actually this pops up twice) and everything runs like normal. Do you NOT see the battle if you click "OK"?
  9. Woo! for you. There's nothing like someone else paying for updates I hope you both enjoy it
  10. Excellent; a house with character. Now you need to just add indoor plumbing and update the electrical to handle modern appliances and technology. Then insulate everywhere, fix the leaky roof and crumbling foundation. Hopefully you don't have to do all of this at once And don't worry about the FORCE "ghosts" that come by to visit for ol' times sake; they shouldn't bite And to think my final day of "winter" was 95F in good old San Antone! What I wouldn't give for some of that "cool" weather and some RAIN!
  11. Did you import the registry from your old laptop for ALL files, or just RebEd? Just asking.
  12. For fighters, troops and facilities there is only a research level (I am not 100% sure on facilities). For capital ships there is a research level AND a research difficulty. Unfortunately, RebEd does not access the research difficulty for capital ships. You can change this but you need a HEX editor and know where the data is located.
  13. For an old poke like me, one man's slang is my foreign language (and probably vice-versa) Keep up the good work on your project! I really like the sector/galaxy layout you have shown so far
  14. You might have to re-read this entire thread for some of the answers, but all try my best: 1) By the way Quick Q for you plural. <= Not sure what to make of that 2) What is up with some of the fictional sector and planets? <= It's the "Unknown Regions" so nobody knows what's there. So to make it "playable" I put in planets from other different sci-fi series/movies. Read the thread for details 3) Does the Dolomar Sector exist and this planet Averam in Coruscant Sector (not Sesswenna). It seems Rebellion and other sources conflict. <= The Dolomar sector does NOT exist in my playable galaxy, and Averam might be a left over from the original game or from an old "map" I used to have with systems near Coruscant. If you check Wookiepedia (Star Wars Rebellion) you'll find out most of the sectors/planets were all screwed up (especially by today's maps), but at that time who knows what they were thinking. 4) Pantolomin has references to Dolomar but where is this sector? <= Good question. Is there really a "Dolomar Sector" to begin with? See my answer above.
  15. Maybe you could replace your screenshot with a "thumbnail link" so it doesn't take up several screens to see? Just my two-bits worth
  16. I saw something interesting at some movie website (I can't remember where right now), but I thought I would post this link. I know Master Xan and Evaders might like this (as long as they do it well) Ender's Game ~November 2013
  17. Although I haven't tried changing the GUI (you'll probably get better answers from Mr PhilDevil or somebody who worked on Rebellion Reloaded), I don't believe you will find a single link to automatically change all mines or refineries in a single stroke. I believe each "icon picture" is individually made/placed when put on the screen. If you scan through all of the images in GOKRES you'll see; but where all this info gets linked ... I don't know (I'll guess and say hard coded into the program). Not sure if that helped, but this is an old game
  18. Yeah those links seem to be lost in the "ether", so I recreated those sectors and will post all the sectors again for completeness. Below are the system layouts within each sector (sectors are in the same order as the previous layout): http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/127/xcoruscantdeepcore01kv8.th.jpghttp://img177.imageshack.us/img177/9969/xtapanicorellian01ue8.th.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img811/7232/kuatcorporate.th.jpghttp://img231.imageshack.us/img231/2201/xmidrimraioballo01ba5.th.jpg http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/4661/xborderlandsquelli01xx5.th.jpghttp://img105.imageshack.us/img105/1360/xkesseltionhegemony01kh1.th.jpg http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/5035/xarkanishuttspace01cu8.th.jpghttp://img442.imageshack.us/img442/8299/xdoldurbothanspace01ip8.th.jpg http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/6099/xisonsluis01eg3.th.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img843/4468/moddellunknown.th.jpg
  19. According to their Update #8 Stretch Goal: It seems to me that it will be something like single-player Rebellion: everytime you start a new game you'll get a "reset" galaxy of who controls what and where, and you just go from there. A "scripted" campaign doesn't appear to fit the bill based on my interpretation of their idea of single-player campaign. Just my two-bits worth
  20. You can still "back" the program and get "rewards" even though the Kickstarter Fundraising is over. Just go to their website and donate via PayPal. But I would hurry as they are soon to release their "backers reward website" and once all the info is in, I'm sure they will lock out any latecomers. Checkout all of their "updates" to make sure.
  21. They're in the final stretch! The original game and several stretch goals have been funded, with the best stretch goals at the end. Check it out! I can't wait for delivery Planetary Annihilation
  22. I'm just guessing here but, shields always have to go down first. After that I thinks it's a weighted percentage chance of what happens within. More than likely the largest percentage is the hull, but eventually the internal systems get hit also. I don't know if that answers your question(s)
  23. Keep up the good work Slocket Any specifics on what you're working on/making progress with?
  24. That was totally cool I only wish I knew about this site back in April, I would have backed the Steve Jackson Ogre project. I am so envious of those lucky b@$t@rd$ that got to participate But on a good note, completion of the Ogre project is supposed to be November 2012, so sales should be early next year
  25. I still get requests for my galaxy about every blue moon or so, I can't say for any other's. For multiplayer, as long as both players use the exact same files, this galaxy should work.
