  1. Open ResourceHacker: Click FILE, then OPEN, then browse to the correct directory, click on ENCYTEXT.DLL, then click the OPEN box. For example: Scroll down the folders until you come to folder 7680 (I believe this is the first system of 200): click on the "+" next to the folder to expand it. The "+" changes to a "-" and a data file 1033 shows up. Click on the 1033 and the text shows up in the RH side of the window. Put your cursor wherever you want to make changes and type away; use the backspace and/or delete keys to get rid of text you don't want. Now the IMPORTANT part!! Above the window where the text is, there is a "box/button" that says COMPILE SCRIPT. You must click on this to save your changes; you click anywhere else on this window, and all of your changes you just typed in <* poof *> no longer exist. Now you can move to the next folder and repeat. Also, don't forget to hit FILE, then SAVE before exiting the program (or again your changes will not be saved). Hopefully that helps.
  2. Fortunately Carter was only in for one term, unfortunately that was a looooonnngg four years. Maybe Obama is what's needed to get a great president for 2012 (that means NOT him)?
  3. That's NOT me! I was just down the hall though when they snapped that picture, so I ran down and had my picture taken also http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/5233/legostarwarscharacterstcd4.jpg
  4. So is 300 the maximum, or can I put in even more systems/sectors? I take it the "standard" 10 systems per sector still applies; would your editor be capable of having "more" systems in the Core regions, "average" in the Mid regions, and "fewer" in the Outer regions? Although the "outer" regions would have fewer systems, there are definitely "more" sectors there than in the "Core". Looking at the SW Galaxy map, I would love to have 300-500 systems in 30-60 sectors to "explore". Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing your demo
  5. Use ResourceHacker; although I ran into two planets that wouldn't let me "add" text to the description (I could for 198 others, but for these particular two ... it was a pain).
  6. I would have preferred Rice as the Presidential choice myself.
  7. I know this "post" is over a year old, but the reply is worth it Somebody has already converted the Tie Fighter game series over to the XWA engine. Go here for further details
  8. Rob, unfortunately you are totally wrong. I won't get into (again) why the Electoral College is necessary, but I would definitely like to point out the majority of "today's voters" are NOT informed! Many just voted for Obama because he was "black", some because he was "new". I was sent an MP3 file from a radio show where they asked people "who you voted for"; but there was a catch ... they asked the "voter" what policies were Obama's best, then listed everything McCain was for (that Obama was really against). And even asked if Obama's choice of Palin for Vice President was a smart move. The "voters" agreed with everything (of McCain's) and said Palin would be great as Vice President. Very informed indeed; they don't know the issues or who's even running. What a bunch of dumb sheep! Well I may have to sell the South forty to make ends meet now. Besides when prices for electricity skyrocket because Obama's promised to bankrupt any coal powered powerplant, and the coal industry, I'll be living by the campfire fighting off the scum bag low lifes trying to take my stuff because Obama wants to "spread my wealth". May God have mercy on the United States of America. All hail (Zeek Heil!) the United Socialist States of America!
  9. I'm glad things are back up also, but "back to normal"? I don't know. So, are all comments made from EaW and PFF (the red and green screen forums) always going to show up as new posts when I'm trying to read the Rebellion (blue) forums? Not to knock anyone, but I just don't care about those forums. I'm sure they're nice people and all, but I don't have the games or interest, so why waste my time reading that stuff. Maybe I'm just an ol' fogey stuck in his ways ... Oh, what'd you know, I am! Maybe there should be a "higher level" login screen to you can enter whatever forums you want, and skip those you don't Nice to see familar names back onsite @E: When you going to put my New Galaxy Config file in DOWNLOADS?
  10. Yor're not using the correct color palette. Load an original game pic into your graphics software, and save the palette as Rebellion palette. After you resolve resolution sizes & such, change to the Rebellion palette. Check your work before you save, as after changing palettes some pictures aren't as nice as you would want. Welcome to the old world clash of non-printable codes in the modern era. I believe the problem comes from the you mentioned, as it is really a combination of a "carriage return" and "line feed"; , both non-printable characters. It may be that only the is required, but I'm only guessing. As to how to put in only a single code, as opposed to the built-in double of , it's been a really long time ... it could be CTRL+"L" (hold the CONTROL key and press the "L" key, no quotes), but I don't know how ResourceHacker would handle that. An alternate might be +"012" (hold the ALT key and press the numbers "012", no quotes) but make sure you use the digits from the keyPAD and NOT the "numbers" on top of the keyBOARD. You might just have to live with the little squares Good luck!
  11. Most excellent Rob! Keep the posts coming
  12. Read ALL of the fine print wherever you are shopping. One of the listings on Ebay is for the "box" only; NO game! Buyers beware!
  13. Evaders? You still kickin'? I haven't heard from you in quite a while Anyways, per your instructions, I e-mailed my completed New Galaxy Configuration file to put in the DOWNLOADS section (~1.5 months ago), but haven't heard a "peep" since. I'm just wandering if you received it or not I've had several individuals PM me for the file (which I sent), but I would like to get it out to the general community. What's the actual process for getting this done? ...
  14. Use the Jedi Mindtrick and the girl is yours. Oh and yeah I've got a date lol. Even without the use of Rebellion 2! And I owe it all to you, Eagle. Keep to the schedule; work before play http://smiliestation.de/smileys/Starwars/24.gif http://smiliestation.de/smileys/Starwars/1.gif
  15. No girl for you! Now get back to work! The Emperor is not as forgiving as me. Your project will be done on schedule! You don't want to make me angry, or I might have to send a Dark Side Force Storm to cancel your date with Ceres (you two-timing, dishonorable, nerf herder!)
  16. Supposedly the PS3's (now) come with a built-in Blu-ray DVD player; might save a couple of hundred bucks down the road instead of buying a separate Blu-ray HD DVD player ... just saying
  17. Quite enjoyable Eagle, good find
  18. Slocket, your memory must be slipping ... you wrote a similar post yourself back in Dec '06 (see pg 3 of this thread) Luckily mine is as sharp as a spoon
  19. When 52 years young you are, look as good you will NOT! Especially with all your "Mad" drinking binges
  20. Happy Birthday Carrie Fisher!
  21. I was "lucky enough" to have the AI (as the Empire) build 5 SSD's, and all in the same fleet! I think that was during my first "Rebel Uprising" game somewhere in the GAME STORIES thread. That was probably one of the best space battles I had in a long, long time. It wasn't overly grand as I (the Rebels) had all ship research complete, had practically all of the outer rim, and at least half the Core. So, although it was nice to see the AI doing something, I did have a comparably better fleet. I saved the game prior to the space battle so I could play it out several different ways. I finally fought the battle out to where I didn't even lose a single capital ship (although, my tons of fighters were reduced to mere hand fulls when things were done). As to getting Rebellion or not, ... don't, if you're an idiot; it might be old now (not as old as me), but it definitely has potential (especially early in the games) to strategically challenge you
  22. There is a "bug" with your logic. I have used the "hyperspace dungeon" many, many times; but it is NOT 100% effective (just 99.9%). There is the chance (and it has happened to me) that when your jailer and prisoner finally arrive at their destination, the prisoner escapes! The prisoner has had plenty of time to work on an escape, but just needs the right opportunity to pull it off. So as you can see, the original developers have added an "out" to what you perceive as a "bug".
  23. Which is why I mentioned (in some other thread) that Imperial diplomats with a Star Destroyer in orbit should get yet another diplomacy bonus on top of everything else, just because there is a Star Destroyer in orbit. Now if the planet is shielded then the bonus wouldn't work, unless there were a fleet of ships capable of blasting through the shields, in which case the "shield negating affect" becomes uneffective. This bonus would somehow take into account current ship counts, current research levels, and ship availability in the sector. That way the "bonus" isn't just a bluff, but comes from the actual possibility the Empire would act on the "threat" (being an evil Empire does have some advantages ). Just an idea
  24. Rob is correct. A 1-to-1 ratio of mines to refineries gives 50 maintenance points per pair. That is the most efficient configuration. If you have more mines, then raw materials begin to accumulate; more refineries, then they process surplus raw materials if available or just sit there doing nothing.
  25. Most of the "liberal" active Hollywood actors who spout there political opinions are only high school grads or college drop outs. Michael Moore graduated from high school and dropped out of college his freshman year. So people would rather listen to his "informed" opinion than the gov't officials who have college degress and advanced degrees, and get actual updated info everyday? Good gracious if they do, then this country really is in trouble.
