  1. That would be a sweet house to grow up in. I didn't realize he these adopted children.
  2. Embarrassed George Lucas Still Just Telling New Wife He Works In Digital Media
  3. @Tex: I read Speaker of the Dead after Ender's Game, and really enjoyed it. It's a bit "deeper" but I thought it was a good way to follow up the first book.
  4. At the time I did. I think it ended up being a trilogy on the PS1. It would definitely need some tweaks to pass today's standards, but the storyline and whatnot was top-notch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colony_Wars_(series)
  5. Sounds interesting enough for me to give it a whirl in the future. I'll add it to my book bucket list.
  6. I happened to decide to check in on the ol' place the other day, and I'm glad to see a few others still milling about. The missus' and I are currently in the midst of purchasing our first home...the offer was accepted and now it's the nitty-gritty with the inspection and appraisal. Hope to have the contract signed by next month. As for work, I was unable to find it after receiving my M.S. in Secondary Education. So now I work a stupid retail-ish job while continuing the career hunt and paying off student loans. I'll try and stick around!
  7. The initial thing that got her into sci fi and fantasy was Tolkien. When The Hobbit movie came out last year, she had nothing to read and I encouraged her to read The Hobbit since it's an easy read. She enjoyed it, and tackled The Lord of the Rings, and ended up loving it. Now she's starting to find things on her own that I haven't even heard of!
  8. I don't really remember the space combat from Battlefront too much. If there's one thing console games are missing, it's space battles. Halo: Reach did a pretty darn good job with it, but unfortunately they didn't follow through with it for Halo 4. I would love to see a new Colony Wars for the PS4.
  9. When it comes to Star Wars movies, I'm actually looking forward to seeing someone else at the helm. It's no secret that the prequels were not the best they could have been. I think seeing someone's fresh take, particularly if they truly revere the source material, could make for some good movies.
  10. I'm looking forward to a Battlefront III. I was so sad to that they never made a Battlefront game for the PS3/360. Maybe it had something to do with how bad The Lord of the Rings: Conquest game ended up being. With all the MMO-type games coming out for the next generation my fingers are crossed that some kind of Star Wars one comes out...maybe even The Old Republic!
  11. Any console players still alive and kicking? Got dibs on the next PS4 or Xbox One? I went ahead and pre-ordered a PS4. I've had both a PS3 and a 360 this generation, and I just prefer Sony's console due to the library of exclusives. Plus I don't like how Microsoft is treating the Xbox One more as a home entertainment center than a video game console.
  12. Little late to the party, but congrats on the dog rescue. We generally have a foster cat/ group we take care of until the local shelter finds a forever home for them. It's always nice to hear about others giving the released animals a second chance.
  13. I actually just started reading some of the books, with the movie coming out and all. I always wondered where you're avatar came from, and now I know! As for the movie, I am looking forward to it. The books were great reads, though figuring out which order to read them in was a bit harrowing. The missus' generally isn't too big into sci-fi, but she's the one who actually read some of the Ender's Game books and got me to read them. I think I've read four of them now, but took a break from the series to return to King's Dark Tower series.
  14. Awesome sauce!
  15. I played ME 1 and 2 on my 360, but now that the series made it's way to the PS3, I might play it over that. I'm not sure though... There are three purchases for me this year: Resistance 3 (already pre-ordered), Uncharted 3 and Skyrim. I'm really excited for Skyrim...heck, I still go back to Oblivion every few months. I hope Skyrim is just as awesome.
  16. On a completely random note, the miss' and I will finally be leaving New York at the end of June when our lease comes up. I graduated in January 2010 and have been unable to find work up here since then...in fact, most schools are laying off teachers as opposed to hiring them. Yeah, NY is screwed up. There is a lot more opportunity down south, and the cost of living is much cheaper than up here. We will be living at her mother's house in South Carolina while I look for work in North and South Carolina. Hopefully I'll finally be able to start a career.
  17. Played through Force Unleashed II within mere hours. The game was very short, but VERY fun. That is, as long as you can enjoy using a lightsaber and Force powers and can ignore the storyline, which totally destroys Star Wars canon. Right now I'm playing the new Mortal Kombat, which is totally awesome for any old-school MK fans. It's really a reboot of the franchise and borrows a lot from the classic games while adding some new features (which work very well) and great graphics. And let's not forget the blood and gore...
  18. ZOMG I THOUGHT THE SITE WUZ DEAD!!!!!!!!!! A few weeks back I kept trying to get on but couldn't and eventually I assumed that the site had closed down. Today I decided to try it again, and I was relieved to see that it was now up and running! Glad SWR is still going!
  19. Hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year!
  20. I received a book called "Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science" for Christmas, and upon reading it I was shocked to learn that missing packets of instant oatmeal is common during encounters with Sasquatch.
  21. On a random subject, I finally got a new laptop with some much-needed Christmas money. I was missing my lack of online-presence, both here and elsewhere.
  22. Foxtrot is always pure awesome!
  23. Star Wars Retold by Someone Who Hasn't Seen the Whole Thing Pretty hilarious!
  24. Fallout: New Vegas is basically Fallout 3 set in the Las Vegas area as opposed to the DC area, and I love it! I have no problem with them keeping the two games so similar since Fallout 3 was so epic.
  25. The Force Unleashed II demo popped out last week, so I downloaded it to my PS3. The game was pretty awesome, and I loved the Jedi Mind Trick ability which I used to make a stormie jump out a window! I'm totally psyched to play the full game, but I'll rent it at some point...for now, I'm renting Fallout: New Vegas first.
