    Grand Moff

Probably because Hutt Space was simply an Imperial protectorate, and the Moff was the real power behind a Hutt figurehead. Happens all the time in the real world...even today.
  2. I forget - have we seriously discussed a population cap, or gotten any legitimate response on it? Because I know that the question was more or less dodged in the last interview it was mentioned in...along with the SSD issue, which we plainly know to be not in. Delphi, help a brotha out here. Is this going to be another Battle for Middle Earth; "EPIC" battles with a limited amount of units that can be in (oh, bitter irony! Endor with 10 ships!), or will you spare us from that awful fate and allow us limitless units on the battlefield?
  3. Is it true that space battles can take place adjacent to nebulae, as well as in planetary orbits? Or was that simply a misinterpretation of something in an interview?
  4. True, the medical uses were discussed as being beneficial. But I also read about it being used in a security context. Imagine certain workers in certain positions being required to have them implanted. *shudder*
  5. Bah, this is bullshit. Why a Monday, when a lot of us have to work or attend school? It would have made more sense for a Saturday, or even a Friday.
  6. I wouldn't be so sure. People are naive. Really naive. That, and last November the Department of Health said it was fine to make microchip implants in humans.
  7. Tatooine...before Luke and Obi-Wan are discovered.
  8. I want to see Grand Admiral Thrawn and Colin Powell square off against each other in a beauty contest.
  9. Palpatine wanted Luke to supplant Vader because he sensed Vader's newfound love for his son, and suspected (correctly) that he was plotting a coup against him.

    Grand Moff

Moffs are Imperial sector (100+ star systems) governors. Grand Moffs either govern oversectors (any given amount of particularly rebellious sectors in one concentrated area) or regions (10+ sectors). Moffs have direct economical, political, and military control of their territories, and report to the Grand Moff above them. Grand Moffs have the same level of control and report directly to the Emperor, but only oversector Grand Moffs (like Tarkin) have military control within their realm of governance.
  11. Keep in mind - we're elite. We bypass the Lucasarts forum type of personality by a longshot.
  12. We should compile a list of the questions that we'll ask before and during the chat. That way, no one will repeat another person's question, and we'll be able to find more answers and waste less time. Please list them with your most preferable first, and so forth. 3-5ish. 1. (My pre-chat question) What will be done about heroes and bounty hunters to make sure that they are not overpowered, in comparison to regular units? 2. You've said in an interview that planets can rebel. How does this work, exactly? Do all planets have a population loyalty measure for each faction? If that is the case, how would that work on Neutral worlds? Does the Death Star affect loyalty or the chance for worlds revolting? 3. Will the map for planetary ground battles randomly generate, or is it always the same terrain for every planet, every time? You have said that all buildings built in your base will always have a pre-selected spot, and we are interested in knowing how you intend to make sure that ground battles don't become repetitive and predictable because of it. 4. You have said at the E3 convention that all starships will have their own unique destruction animation and damage displays. However, the only ships that we have seen break apart and demonstrate this are Imperial Star Destroyers; the rest seem to just explode rather non-chalantly. Is this still being worked out?
  13. Is there any way to insert a picture that isn't a webpage (doesn't have an url)?

    Old games

I'm a diehard for all the Monkey Island games. Grew up on those fucking things. I wish that adventure games would make a comeback! Oh, nostalgia!
  15. Are you a freedom fighter, or a fascist bastard? Post, and give a reason why you made your choice. I picked the Imps, because well...who doesn't like the evil guy. Planeticidal practices, racism, sexism, totalitarian society, snazzy Third Reich-esque uniforms, underground Sith power cabals...what's not to like?!
  16. Surrogate mothering? *shrugs*
  17. Maybe Delphi would know?
  18. There's always the EU. Maybe once Star Wars dies down a bit, the authors will start getting fresh ideas again.
  19. The Empire has Probe Droids and TIE Scouts. What espionage means do the Rebels have, then? What other devices for espionage are there?
  20. The modability of ground units being represented as inside the capital ships and not in transports: feasible or impossible?
  21. I have a couple of questions about transports for you Delphi, if you don't mind: 1. I assume that AT-ATs can carry Stormtroopers. When they disembark, what animation is used to show them leaving the walker - does the walker simply kneel down and the troopers disembark, or do the Stormtroopers rapell out of the sides (sort of like how American Rangers rapell out of Chinook helicopters in C&C:Generals) of the walker, like they do in the Expanded Universe? If they do not rapell, how difficult or easy would you say it would be to mod this animation in? 2. About transports in space: it's been established that when you move ground units (and I assume heroes?) into fleets, they show up in transports if those same fleets meet up with an enemy in space. I assume that the game registers each transport with carrying X amount of ground units, and when that transport gets destroyed, so do those units. My question is, how easy or difficult would it be to mod space battles so that ground units register as being inside your capital ships, getting rid of transports in space battles altogether. I don't disagree with transports being in vanilla space battles as this constitutes a good strategic element of having to defend them, but call it an esthetic that I might like to see in a mod. Thanks, Delphi!!
  22. Not even saying that there would have to be a unit limit. I mean limited as in you're going to want only so many units relegated to guard duty. If you'd want to win, you'd have to put most of your fleets and armies on the front lines to win new worlds. A Death Star would help that process by taking away worthwhile worlds from your enemy that you yourself couldn't really benefit from in the first place.
  23. I can see how the Death Star would be a liability, but look at it this way: you're only going to have so many units at a particular time. Rather than waste a fleet and building a planetary occupation force to defend a non-beneficial world, why not destroy it if that same poor, backwater world also would happen to be a great world for the Rebels? I mean, if there was a world that only gave +5 credits, and gave the Rebels +100 credits, x2 faster capital ship production, and Admiral Ackbar, guess which one I'm destroying??!!
  24. Has anyone ever heard of these guys? Because they fucking rule! I've heard "I'm Not the Droid You're Looking for" years ago, but now I can't find any of their songs or CDs online. Does anyone know where I can?
  25. I think that there are a couple of practical benefits to an Imperial player from a Death Star. One we know, the other, a product of speculation. For one, we know that certain planets will have various advantages and disadvantages, each depending on the faction. So, for example, Alderaan might give unprecedentedly cool bonuses to the Rebels if they owned it, while we know that all the Imperial player gets is a very reduced taxation rate from the Alderaanians because they hate the Empire so much. Therefore, if the Imperial player judged that Alderaan was too much of a potential benefit to the Rebels (and a negligible benefit to him), destroying it would be a strategically sound decision. The Death Star would allow for robbing the enemy of beneficial planets that you yourself cannot profit from. For two, it's been confirmed that planets can rebel. This is sort of tricky, but chances are there might be some sort of population loyalty measure for planets. I'm sure that a Death Star would have some effect on that.
