  1. Plus, I'm sure it will look a helluva lot better when it's on our -own- monitor screen!
  2. I dunno...the space battles have never looked better. Especially with the ship lighting - that was originally something that we were bitchin' about not being there. But the ground unit detail seems a little worse to me, actually. Is it just me?
  3. Well, people like me eat that shit up. But yeah, the corporation tree concept is solid...but a little simplification might be in order. Question about your Blastech tree: why is the E-11 (the commonest of the common military rifle) so high on the tech tree? You'd think that that would be one of the first technologies you could purchase.
  4. I don't care. I'll buy the complexity. Get enough publicity about this Stellar, and your game is going to grow a fanatic cult following, like Rebellion sorta did (except with tolerable graphics!)
  5. Even in the campaign, the galaxy will be largely free-style. The missions are there to advance the story, and it is always to your benefit to win a mission that's offered and gain a reward, but you're never compelled to -do- any of the missions, to my knowledge.
  6. Modders, to your stations!!!
  7. Now, the Jedi Prince books...THOSE are literary abortions!!
  8. So far, I've heard (or would like to believe) that the DEMO release is the 7th of December. True or false?
  9. Nothing. Those at the top were the books that I was listing as some of my favorites.
  10. Nothing wrong with being ambitious. The man's got some good ideas.
  11. Ahh, Balance of Power. I remember that glorious age...when Lucasarts didn't milk the Star Wars udder to an atrophied sponge. Do we have any unit lists for both sides' "generic" units?
  12. "Shadows of the Empire" ? "Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader" ? "The Black Fleet Crisis" trilogy? The "Rogue Squadron" and "Wraith Squadron" series? Sure, there are terrible books. But there are equally great ones at that. Not to mention the fact that EU literature has done more than any of the prequels to further the series, and give ideas for other non-movie franchises (like games - HEAVILY influenced by the books). I'd prefer to read about something goofy like the Sun Crusher than listen to Hayden Christensen's pre-pubescent mewling any day.
  13. Garm Bel-Iblis, we can assume, is not in this game? But what about Bail Organa? He was even seen in the third movie! Ahh, a modder's fancy, in other words, right? On another note, it would be interesting to mod it so that Ackbar is Tarkin's slave (just like in the books), and you were presented with a mission to free him. I know that it's just a game, but it's frankly quite insulting how much George Lucas ignores the EU. Especially when the EU is good!
  14. Is this taking into account the fact that planets can only have a limited amount of buildings (a la Rebellion) ?
  15. All counts of 40 planets have said "40+." Indicating that is was generally -around- 40 worlds.
  16. That's a goddamn sick gun. I'm going to have one on every planet.
  17. 'Corrupt?' If that isn't a Palpatine ability, I don't know what is.
  18. Thanks for your patience, Delphi! I like to see piles of the dead Rebel scum.
  19. No Chandrilla? Where do you think Mon Mothma comes from?
  20. Out of curiosity, why is it then that Imperial walkers out of all units do get persistency when they are destroyed?
  21. Yes and no. Typically, in any revolution, it is the counter-insurgeny forces who are better-trained and better-supplied. It just makes sense - a Stormtrooper is equipped with the best armor, has brutal training on the planet Carida, and is fanatically brainwashed to be loyal to Palpatine's agenda. Rebels generally make up for this distinction by fighting asymetrical warfare and using creativity and deception whenever possible. This is why, to use a real-world example, the US military - one of the best and most technologically-advanced in the world - got its ass kicked by a bunch of peasant farmers in Vietnam, regardless of how many Vietnamese were killed. We have yet to see how this will be reflected in the game.
  22. Thanks for your wealth of information these days, Delphi! You've had a cloaking device on you for some time. This may sound like a typical add-on question at this point, but will hulk (I assume this means 'body') persistency be a toggleable option, or a moddable XLM property?
  23. Like I've said, keep in mind that this is PRE-BETA. I'm sure all of the values haven't been completely adjusted, and will undergo even further adjustment after the demo itself. And even if they're stupid after -that-, the damage and hitpoint values of units are going to be the absolutely easiest things to mod. There are greater things to worry about. Like real life concerns!!!
  24. I just had a sudden thought: A corporation-based technology tree would be wholly at the mercy of the Empire if it ever had a Death Star. He could, on a whim, take out a planet home to a key source of technology for the Rebels, and that technology would be denied for the rest of the game.
