  1. I wonder if you'd need seperate transports to carry ground forces, or if larger capital ships themselves could keep transports. ISDs, for example, store multitudes of heavy walkers and Lambda shuttles for ground assaults. It'd feel kinda lame to have to cart around transports along with your fleets.
  2. Ah well. The no SSD shock is slowly leaving my system - especially after Delphi more or less hinting towards an expansion... I trust Petroglyph. They're a buncha decent, creative guys. Why guys so decent would engineer a game where an Imperial player can commit acts of planeticide without consequence is beyond me, though...
  3. Delphi: you're sure that what you're talking about is the Venator, and not the Acclamator? We will actually have two Clone Wars-era Star Destroyers?
  4. If you're indeed going to do this revamped Original Trilogy mod for EaW, you'll need a name, and you should probably get a topic stickied in this forum. All in due time, of course.
  5. Judging how much of a landmark game this is going to be (I can only imagine the hysteria EaW is going to arouse in casual gamers once they actually become aware of it), I have no doubt that you'll be able to find X billion people who have your same mod.
  6. It's alright, Moriarty. If it consoles you, even a drooling, obsessive-compulsive nut like I has come to terms with the lack of an Executor, and now I'm awaiting a mod that puts it and other ships in their proper place.
  7. Isn't the chat on this Tuesday? What time would that be for say, Pacific standard time?
  8. Just 3 times at most will do fine, thanks.
  9. Wow, that would be most appreciated, Juggernaught. I wonder how difficult it's going to be to create the Executor.
  10. And someone who downloaded it could skip the Remnant/New Republic/Thrawn stuff, so that he could just only play as the Rebels or Imps, right? The only difference between it and vanilla EaW could be the existence of the other Imp/Reb units, and the campaign going to Episode 6?
  11. Alright, just for clarification: Is Legacy of War going to first correct EaW's omission of RoTJ type units (like the SSD, Carracks, Interceptors, Lancers, etc) before it leaps into the New Republic-era EU?? If it indeed patches this up first, will it release it first, or will it be an optional part along with the entire Legacy of War release?
  12. Yeah, but the Rebs and Imps have radically different styles of play. While the Empire was sitting there with its thumb up its ass for God-knows-how-long waiting for its completition, the Rebels could in fact gain superior economy and numbers by taking more planets and building up a superior force of heavy cruisers that - while incapable of 1 on 1 combat against an SSD - together, could well in fact destroy it.
  13. I fervently agree with you, Nevetts. Let them repent!
  14. Is it simply occupy all the planets your opponent has, occupy all the planets of the galaxy, or destroy/defend the Death Star? Or does it depend on the faction?
  15. Yeah, the very presense of such units and characters like Mara Jade, Veers, the AT-AT and AT-ST, the A-Wing, the Mon Calimari Cruiser, the Nebulon B Frigate, and the Interdictor Cruiser (none of which were to be seen in Episodes I-IV) proves that the removal of the SSD and others was less of a matter of canon and more of a backdoor for a sequel. It's very pick 'n choose, sad to say. I don't blame the gents at Petroglyph for it, though. Probably was those moneygrubbing shit heads at Lucasarts.
  16. Exactly. You could probably just erase more useless Petroglyph creations like the TIE Mauler, TIE Scout and the Broadside Cruiser and paste in units like the Lancer, Carrack, and Bulk Cruiser to fill their place. That's great. I'm still not sure about victory conditions, though.
  17. There are a lot of mods coming into development that are going to use the EaW engine. You've got everything from the Sith Wars, to the Clone Wars, to the Expanded Universe (Legacy of War mod). However, is there going to be simply a regular mod that - in light of the news about the timeline - puts full trilogy technology into the game? And by full trilogy, I mean that standard full arsenal of SSD, Interceptor, Lancer, Carrack, B-Wing, etc. Nothing Clone Wars, no additional factions, no other frills. Just something to compensate for what was left out of Empire at War. Oh, and I'm confused as to the victory conditions for the game. Does it end now when you completely dominate the galaxy and capture the last of your opponent's planets, or does it end with the destruction of the Death Star or the realization of some "Battle of Yavin" type mission?
  18. Wait, the Interceptor is in??
  19. Blasphemy!! Seriously though, I assume that the SSD be at least somewhat worth the while. It's probably going to be like the galactic equivalent to the Chinese Overlord Tank. Really big and clunky, but oh so worth it! Plus, we have no idea how well-armed Petro is going to make it. They may just arm it to the teeth and make it impervious to all but the largest Rebel offensive, or the most cunning sabotage. And I hope that that Rebel minority stays that way. People need to understand that the Imps have all the big guns for a reason. It's equally that way to bring out the Rebels' strengths, as well - namely, their more pronounced stealth and espionage advantages.
  20. I've been playing GLA a lot these days in Generals, and I'm wondering? Do you think that Rebel units (at least their basic infantry and probably their rocket infantry, for maximum effectiveness) will be able to cloak when still? It would really add to the Rebel side, I believe, if they had total control of ambush capabilities. They should also have a cheap, easy to acquire unit to lay explosives and mines - that would really keep the Imperial player on his fucking toes.
  21. Yeah, but the goal is to create a game where heroes aren't all-powerful. Where you can reasonably imagine playing with no heroes and still expect victory, if you play your cards right. Hense the hypothetical rock paper scissors. Regular units get whomped to death by (combat) heroes. Heroes can be taken down by bounty hunters. Bounty hunters are vulnerable to regular units. Bounty hunters may indeed be heroes, but if you look at it a certain way, they're hireable heroes. You probably don't acquire them in the same way you'd get Obi-Wan or Thrawn. You'd probably just...well, buy their services. Regardless, this should definately be a question for the live chat on the 18th. How the game can be balanced so that heroes and bounty hunters don't lord over everything.
  22. Well, following that up...where has it been that you've seen Imperial Army Troopers? All I've seen are Stormies.
  23. Yeah, the hero syndrome seems to be the case for those poor stormies. NBC stands for Nuclear Biological Chemical. As for just the regular Rebels, they do seem to kick so much ass on the Tantive IV. However, it's kind of hard to imagine then how standard, heroeless Rebel forces could defeat those elite Imperial forces on their own. I suppose just like in real warfare in recent history, they simply depend on the terrain, support from the locale populace, and ambushes.
  24. Supposedly, the Stormtrooper armor is the pinacle of military technology, at that point. Stormies have full holographic knowledge of the battlefield they're in, armor that can fully absorb small scale blaster fire below the rifle level, full NBC protection, and can even survive the vacuum of space for up to 20 minutes... ...and yet they still can't shoot straight.
