  1. hm. Okay, I have an idea that should work, or at least do what you want it to. Take the map and reduce the size, and then put that on a starry background of the same size as the map used to be. Now it should look like you're "zoomed out" of the galaxy display. Move the systems where they should be in the galaxy. Since the galaxy is smaller, the systems will be closer together. Now, INCREASE the hyperdrive rating for ships above the normal level. That way it still takes them proportionally as long to reach their destination, since they're moving slower over a smaller distance. The characters, however, are unaffected and thus seem to move at a faster pace.
  2. In regards to Evaders' argument, don't let it discourage you. If you dont do anything illegal, you still have to buy the games for the PC, which are comparable in cost to PS2 games, so no change there. Paying for XBOX kive is like paying for a broadband connection or other internet connection thats above the standard for just browsing. Accessories are an issue, but most systems require similar things such as a keyboard and mouse. Further, most systems come with at least 1 controller, so you really only have to buy a memory card, which is about the price of a mouse. As for how often you use a medium that is dedicated to gaming as opposed to one for multiple functions, it is ia valid point, but the costs of keeping a GAMING quality PC are more than keeping up with one console every four years. If you just want one for watching online media, doing documents, and posting, then you can get a computer for much cheaper than the gaming one. Also, depending on what kind of games you play, the videogame systems are superior to the consoles in a variety of games. Yes, you can find SOME of every genre on the PC, but browsing through Best Buy and Gametstop, the PC selection seems to have "Age of Empires, Empire Earth, Civilization, Command and Conquer..." the list goes on. If you're a strategy buff like the original poster, then you definately want the PC, but if you're an RPG buff like me, or a racing/sports/fighting game fanatic, the PC just cant give you what you want. As for the backup question, yes you can make backups but its not as easy to do, and about as illegal as making them on the PC, so I'll have to give this one to the computers.
  3. No game console can match the PC in terms of pure strategy games, but the PS2 has a variety of Strategy RPGs which are quite fun. Disgaea, Makai Kingdom, Final Fantasy Tactics (its for PS1, but you can still play it on the PS2), etc. All very nice stuff. Video game systems are a great bargain, too. Easily worth the money when you take the time to divide it out. Average life span of a system is 4-5 years. We'll say four to be safe. We'll say 300 dollars for a new system, since thats the XBOX 360's going price. 300/4 years=75 dollars a year. 75 a year/12 months a year=6.25 a month. Thats less than you pay for an online RPG! If you look at it like that, theres no reason not to buy a PS2, Xbox, or whatever. With all the strategy RPGs out for it, as well as some good Star Wars games like Battlefront, Revenge of the Sith, and Lego Star Wars (what? Its a good game!), you really can't go wrong. Plus, if you go with the PS2, then you have all the original Playstation titles available.
  4. Consider this, though. If you download the file from a torrent, you'll get the MDATA folder anyway, so no need for a No-CD patch. If you need the no-cd patch, you must have had the game disk at some point.
  5. why not move the systems a little closer together in the Galaxy editor? It works well
  6. I'll admit that I had my doubts when I first saw the model, but now that I see it, it looks superb! Like D16 said, the cel-shaded look is awesome
  7. Disgaea is one of the best games I've ever played. Sure, you can't find it for less than 50 dollars and its out of print, but the characters are hilarious, the story is great, and you can power level up all the way to 9,999 and fight Uber Prinny Baal, the penguin of doom.
  8. Hm...here's an interesting idea. What if Yoda had actually killed Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith? Would anything be solved? The clones still have orders to kill the Jedi, and the Republic is still technically an Empire, not to mention that the galactic senate's majority seems to believe the Jedi are evil. So, what would happen?
  9. The CC7700 is the interdictor for the Rebs, but while randomness is something of an issue (which is why damage control on the MonCal is so great), I agree that the SSD should be able to take the Bulwark in a ship-vs-ship battle. I also believe that the Bulwark can take the SSD with both of them full of fighters, since the Reb fighters are so much better than the Empire fighters. I mean come on, I had a carrier full of X-wings defeat the Judicator and the starting TIE group. I realize that Defenders are great but A-wings can clean them out in a fight, from what I've seen.
  10. You were restraining yourself BEFORE? Good lord....
  11. Tofu seems be acting even stranger than normal recently. Maybe those 1000 posts went to his head
  12. All of the games I mentioned are in the US, and in english, many with voice acting (also in english). You can find most of them at your local Gamestop or other video game specialty, but good luck finding them in Walmart or Target.
  13. Your respect is based on their knowledge, and so are most of the members of this community, but newer people tend to follow advice of high post count people. I think there was a situation on the Rebellion editing forums a while back, I think it was Defender 16, who gave some advice to a newbie and the newbie waited until Mask answered before trying it. D16, whoever it was, follwed up by saying something along the lines of "If you're not a moderator, no one pays attention to you." I find that to be true on the forums, at least usually. After all, if you're new, you tend to look for the oldest people with the highest post count, since you assume that they know what they're doing. We're fortunate that our older guys here really DO know what they're doing, but us medium-newbs often get ignored by the newbs where help is concerned.
  14. Thank you for showing me that people with a high post count don't necessarily constitute the most mature people on the forums Seriously though, good job. Keep this up and you'll pass even Trej.
  15. Dear Sir or Madame, I am Renaldo Renald Ronald, a banker from Nigeria who represents a Mister Gerald Bald Zee. He has deposited the sum of money, the US equivilent of twenty-four million dollars (24,000,000USD) in a secure bank account, which it is my duty to keep safe. Unfortunately, Mr. Zee died in my country's recent revolution and so now this money is sitting in the bank, only able to be transferred if I sign it over to an immediate heir. This is where you come in. I require a secure bank account to transfer the money to, and to name you the immediate heir. We will split the reward fifty-fifty (50/50) and will be profitable from this. Please contact me and decide how this will be done. With most sincerity, Renaldo Renald Ronald ---- This is the famous Nigerian scam. I've gotten it a few times, all of them just a little bit different. Anyone else got a good one?
  16. Welcome to the forum. Its a great community here, and chances are you'll be able to find whatever you want if its Star-Wars related, as long as it doesn't have the words "No-CD crack" in it. The other guys are fussy about that. If you like the other games, then maybe you can revive the Other Star Wars games forum. I'm playing Lego Star Wars myself.
  17. Drat. I'm gonna have to increase my post count soon. I'd like to hit 500 in a month or so. I notice that Jahled, Mask, Mad, and the others all get respect because they know a lot about the game and its workings, but also because they have a high post count. I feel like I have a lot of knowledge about the game and I look forward to the day when someone says "If someone like Mask or Toguro can help, that'd be great" in their post.
  18. If you blow up Coruscant, then wouldnt it mean that you can't "Defend Coruscant" and so you couldnt win the game either?
  19. I like that idea a lot. Maybe do some fun ones, too. Too bad you didnt make the Eclipse--I'd like to see a black, textured one rather than the big grey triangle we have now
  20. Not big into Vong ships, honestly, but I tried out the Hapan Battlecruiser and it works fine on my comp. Good job!
  21. Hm, I have to recommend Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. If you can find it, its absolutely worth whatevewr you have to pay for it. If you played Disgaea, then you need to get La Pucelle Tactics, Phantom Brave, and Makai Kingdom. Preferably in that order since the characters make cameo appearances much like in Suikoden. A little way down the list is the Wild Arms series. WIld Arms 1 was recently remade into Wild Arms Alter Code: F. This is a pretty standard RPG as far as story goes, but the villains are great and you actually use guns. If you have a dreamcast or a Gamecube, you must get Skies of Arcadia. Its on par with FFVII in terms of the overall fun factor. If you can find it, Vanguard Bandits for the PS1 is a great game, if a little old. Next to Disgaea, its my favorite SRPG. A strategy game with giant mechs, a villain who speaks in Eurotrash, and 5 different story branches. Not to mention a beautiful translation by Working Designs. Get some of those. THey'll keep you busy.
  22. I never did read too many of those New Republic-era novels, so when I saw the Majestic, I thought "hey that looks pretty weak. I'll replace the dreadnaught with it." You said that the Defender Assault Carrier is a meaner version of it? Is it much bigger? If so, I think I'll use it, since the DAS is an upgrade of the Majestic much like the Assault Frigate is an upgrade of the dreadnaught. I know I'm screwing all SW continuity here, but my TC isnt Star Wars based anyway, so its okay.
  23. Well, lets try to get this back on track. Does anyone have a list of what ranks are available and at what post count? I figure its somewhere, but I dont really feel like flipping through all 58 pages of this topic.
  24. If you like Penguins, Tofu, I suggest Disgaea: Hour of Darkness or Makai Kingdom, both for the PS2, which I assume you have since you have DDR. Both are nice strategy RPGs, and some of the main characters are exploding demon penguins.
  25. about 8 video games for the consoles, a new speaker system for my car, some nice gloves and a nice coat, a couple books, some DVDs, KOTOR for PC, a demon penguin plushie http://www.nisamerica.com/images/prinny.gif and a few other things
