  3. Quality thread E. 9 out of 10. The annoying thing is, how many people could spot half of these websites without being asked: "Which is the real one?" Obviously were it through an email, poorley written or didn't use the correct logo's you'd be suspicious. But it really hightens how easy it can be to fool anyone @dodododo: Hahaha
  4. Both shift and control do work, perhaps it's how you're doing it? Select a single unit/character - then hold control and left click on another character. This should select more than one (If memory serves me, there'll be a red border around the selected characters). Beyond that, there shouldn't be anything else - just make sure you're holding down control as you click.
  5. I couldn't stop laughing at how stupid some of these people are, especially the "lead reporter". I wonder if he ever learnt the word "bias" and "arrogance" and "stupidity". Love how they treat people: Nose in rings = evil. Artists = weird bloke acting weird and watching TV while painting Just watch
  6. Congrats J! Bad luck
  7. Happy brithday GMC! !
  8. Cure for Fear? This guy should see a doctor or five This playstation I'd buy too! Eagle, someone found your "cutters" Ahh, Hell I bet someone wishes this were a magic mushroom Clean city Too sexy? Best Tip Ever
  9. I was annoyed that they didn't follow some of the autobots more closely with their car types, but then that's what happens with a movie world dominated by "sponsors". I mean, was I the ONLY one annoyed that Jazz wasn't a 935 turbo flat nose? Seriously! It's not like there aren't a serious of Porches around these days for them to choose from! Iron Hide wasn't a van, Ratchet wasn't an ambulance. At least Star Scream was an F-22, an evolution on the F-15 of old. The Decepticons followed closer to their origins ... well, that's just me nit picking though Erm, on another note: X-Files Movie
  10. Unfortunately not You can download the demo version, which limits what you can do etc. If you want to make the style of image I just did, without a 3d tool, the demo will do that easily It's not a fast plugin though
  11. @Kaja: Sphere, or as Mad pointed out geosphere. Raising the poly count of either will work well, but geo's can usually work with a much lower poly count and seem to texture better. As for the light, never fear Autobak is here! I just looked at my autobak files, and the last two had a modified lighting system that let me get back to the original (I think the original). @Mad: That plugin is awesome! At first I thought it just did it's own renders but it also allows you to output any type of mape you want - diffuse/color map for clouds or planet, bump maps, opacity maps etc. Perfect! EDIT: A new pic using the textures generated by that plug-in. I think I'll go back and use photoshop to touch up the texture's used though. Particularly some of the colour map and self illumination map used for the city lights (which don't really look to much like a city http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/3350/planet02mm8.th.jpg
  12. I was mainly referring to two characters in the movie:The little transformer that turned into a radio at one stage, and the high ranking field op from Sector 7. He's usually a good actor, but in Transformers he was over the top annoying. Yeah, not much in the way of a spoiler ... but hey, I get to use TWO colours Other than that, most of the humour suited the movie well. I'd quote some ... but I'll wait for others to see the movie first
  13. This is most probably the result of two things. One is the basic 3d engine used by Rebellion (something that is hard coded and doesn't appear to be editable). Part of the engines limitations was that when parts of a 3d model get too close, the engine doesn't know which to show. This bug use to come up with the original Rebellion as well - but the low poly models made it harder to notice, and harder for the problem to occur. The second problem is the model used. Simply put it's both a higher detail model, and a model not designed to work with Rebellion's deficiencies. Even models carefully made, or edited to work better, will have this short falling. The only solution, to date, is to re-model the ship and try (I use that word very liberally) to fix the problem. Of course, modelling the ship is time consuming, and then it needs to be textured. The model already used is of high quality standards, and it would seem a shame to simply get rid of it. However, the Reloaded team is looking into this issue again.
  14. Ha, I didn't think it was that good. I originally made a planet a while back, and only yesterday found another yesterday that had an awesome way of making the atmosphere effect. The main gist of the "model" are the textures really - which I can't take credit for entirely. I used several high res images of planets in our solar system, merged together and then using a procedural texture in max to make it look like there's water as well. Bump maps, specular highlight maps, cloud map etc. were sourced from the interwebs. So, what is it? A planet! Made of dirt! Yeah... Umm, I'll be re-rendering it soon. I might try to do some touch ups.. I do need to re-do the lighting as I may have, just kinda, deleted it

  16. I watched ThumbWars back in Highschool - I thought it was rather good I've been meaning ever since then to see some of the other Thumb movies like Bat Thumb
  17. Thanks fellas It's the 17th now for me, so I had my shin-dig last night at the local with a nice pub meal for dinner. Unfortunately, I had uni this morning, early morning - which meant yesterday wasn't much of a late night or a drink-up(turns out my mates had similar problems where they couldn't stay to late ... working life sucks ). Did have some desert called "Death-by-chocolate". Damn nice ... and the name fitted quiet well, about half way through and it's so rich you realllllly wanted to stop ... but never did Then there's the attempt to get to sleep after eating one of those ... doesn't work too well, my stomach was constantly trying to escape in order to throttle me for forcing said dessert upon it
  18. Will it Blend? 25 Years of CGI Squished Car
  19. Thanks for the feedback guys - this is the type of info, in addition to bug finding, is what we wanted to know with the BETA release Keep it up!
  20. As unfortunate as that is, most modern PCs would still be powerful enough to run a "lower" quality version of the game. Limit some effects, drop the highest detail models and probably drop down the physics in the game etc. Hell, they could even be really annoying and make it use a physics card (wouldn't be the first game .. maybe the last though ). It was annoying when the game was first announced, that it was going to be next gen only - but now they're porting a "reduced" version of the game to run on PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS! Why not PC then? It's not as if LucasArts have dropped the PC titles completely - and whilst the latter two platforms won't excell in anything special graphics wise, the PS2 version would be pretty good and a decent port (in other words NOT Halo 1) would run fine on PCs. Didn't look like Vader to me, looked like the main game character
  21. A link to a pic of the Gryphon Parachute system @J:Wow, I never realised the volume and size difference within an atom @Def: Mate, I sent you a PM reply almost a month ago .. have you had a chance to read it?
  22. Ok, I've just gone through an installed the BETA that everyone else can access and it works. What I did: 1. Uninstalled Rebellion, and gave a new fresh installation - maximum size, the 155 or so mb one. 2. Check to make sure I've still got Resource Hacker, which is within the Program Files directory. 3.Re-read the instructions to make sure everything is right, then install (with the CD already in the drive). Let it go until I get a pop-up window at the end telling me that the installion is complete and there's a log file created. You WILL see command prompt windows - 1 window copying the files off the CD, another copying them to the Rebellion directory. And possibly a third, that might stay blank. IT IS NOT FINISHED YET. You must wait until the final Windows style popup window comes up telling you the installation is complete. 4. From there, I ran Rebellion prior to putting the new cards in the game. The Planets had been changed, and then I updated the card via RebEd. As simple as click load settings and finding the .reb file. It doesn't appear to matter whether the new cards are added before or after the installation of Reloaded. For me, this worked. The main things here are a fresh installation of Rebellion, the Full installation (155 mb). CD in drive before installation (I have a feeling inserting it during might cause the installer to hang). Let the installation go until the very end. You will get a window popping up to tell you that it's completed and a log file has been made, as well as a button to click to continue.
  23. didn't work bud, bandwidth exceeded
  24. Ok, I'm officially scared now ... and scarred beat up matt groening Greek Robot? I mgiht have posted this game a while back
  25. Apologise to all, I have a tendency to "waffle" on if tired @J: By no means was I saying they're bad - especially when compared to some PCs around (Not a fan of Dell at all ... except for their high end LCDs which are usually Samsung panels, just cheaper ). They've always been good performers - but the illusion that Mac's are what are needed for graphics has always been annoying to me - use what you prefer, simple. I find it somewhat poetic that they now use PC hardware And they still hold some advantages over PCs, and I'd wager, will always in their own way. Maybe I should have pointed out that I like Macs a little more towards the start of that longish post @Bud: That was my general feeling too, just without using the OS yet. I have the feeling that the majority of complaints are three fold: bleeding hearts that like to complain about anything Microsoft (seriously just read some of the posts of slashdot), poor driver support (which has little to do with Microsoft, rather the developers of the hardware) and the unfortunate hardware requirements. Now, back on topic Dare I ask if anyone went to see that latest Harry Potter? I'm not a fan of the series (and by that, I simply don't read the books or see the movies) but the most recent one didn't look too bad on the trailers. Thoughts?
