  1. Ahh...no. No..maybe. I may have been playing it and thinking "my god, this game is cool but that MP7 looks like crap. I can do better". Then when I started looking for resource pics and making it I realised I have no idea how to mod HL2 so it'll be a joint venture into expanding my portfolio, practising as well as working for a Uni project. Well, I am working on Reloaded Which reminds me, I need to get some time to do that movie amongst other things ...
  2. Tried that once, didn't work out to good for me or the neighbours goldfish. I generally use MSN, and use to Google Talk. GT was alright, nice and light weight .. but also lacking in some functionality. I still use it to send large files to friends or for voice talking. But, the lack of other functions and simply getting people to join it pulled me back to msn. I used XFire when I got EaW ... yeah, no thanks. I think what threw me off it was the fact I had just installed EaW and had some random person starting to talk to me and then get pissed off because I didn't realise (I was ingame and only noticed once I quit and hour or three later, after which the guy thought I was ignoring him). Other than that, a single chatting program is all I need, any more is just waste.
  3. That's some nice chopping there J! It's been a while since I've posted anything here ... so I might as well throw something in here now. Nothing special, I've been doing a few projects relating to games so I figured I'd work on weapon model as some practice if I need to do the same thing for my project. Hk MP7: http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/373/mp7workinprogress01bg1.th.jpghttp://img488.imageshack.us/img488/4663/mp7workinprogress02tx5.th.jpg Real gun:http://www.planetairsoft.net/reviews/marui-mp7/real-mp7.jpg Currently, this is a template model - from here I'm creating 3 other models. The first is going to be the high poly, no texture version for a normal map. I've started it, nothing too special yet to show - just making things smoother. Once that's done it's off to the lower poly, in game gun that the player sees and then an ultra low poly version for the game world that you see players holding etc.
  4. I've found myself more and more disappointed with movies these days and less likely to bother seeing them at the cinemas. So many seem like nothing more than a teaser for what ILM can do, rather than a good movie. But, that's just me Iron man doesn't look to shabby. My favourite part of the entire trailer was the fact they used the original Black Sabbath song for the movie rather than some random re-hash
  5. Scrubs is an awesome serious on many levels - feeding both the inner child who wants the easy laughs, as well as the more mature (if it exists )
  6. Ouch, that's harsh!

  8. @JH: I've got to agree with going auto these days - as soon as traffic is involved, an auto is the way to go. Manuals get tiring and wear down and can result in some embarrassing moments in heavy traffic - auto means left foot falls a sleep and right has all the fun ... same goes for hands really. My current car is manual, and being a uni student and using public transport a lot means I get to avoid traffic, but even those handful of times I get stuck in traffic, it's a pain in the butt. My brother has also finally come around to the auto side of life ... well, almost. He still is adamant that sports cars and weekend rides should be manual. Personally, I can't wait for DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) style gear boxes to become standard outside of German cars (So far it's Audi/VW (that includes Lambo and Bughatti) and BMW, soon Porsche). They combines all the advantages of an Auto with most of the advantages a manual has. No power loss from the torque converter or viscus coupling, an auto style gear shifter - put it in drive or a manual setting then use a paddle shifter to change gears. But unlike sequential manuals or manuals with paddle shift, these fellas are perfectly smooth. Not to mention that the quicker gear shifting gives your car greater acceleration and driving dynamics Ah, the future EDIT: Related for those who careDSG
  9. I generally just click the mouse's left button and that skips it. Try the true tried and tested button mash Start with escape, try space bar, enter, mouse keys ... ah ... other keys? I've had it one before where I could skip the movies - but that was because the game sort of alt tabbed to the desktop and I wasn't focused on the game. Alt tabbing might help, but probably wont.
  10. AI: The AI itself CANNOT be modified to our knowledge. It is "hard coded" into the game and as such modders can't touch it. However, that doesn't mean it's impossible to not effect the AI. The game testing I've done of Reloaded has had a more agressive AI, some of this is due to the new ship stats, some of it due to the modified galaxy map. But in the end, these are simple "hacks" that don't work all the time and for all people. The easiest way to get things to work better for the AI, as has been pointed out, is to use RebEd to lower production costs for the enemy AI allowing them to build up quicker and with greater numbers. Budious has pointed out in another thread that it might be worth while leaving the AI to build up by itself, unapposed for several turns, before building up and attacking yourself. ISD vs. ISD2: Can't say myself - I havn't had much to do with the unit balancing, and a lot of the BETA testing is focused at bug testing and unit balancing. Capturing Luke: Well, in Reloaded it would be similar to capturing a powerful character in normal Rebellion. This usually means a heavy force or powerful force/character. If you've tried capturing Vader of Palpatine in Rebellion, it's a difficult task that often requires a blockading fleet and several powerful characters and/or a planetary assault. Efficient way of capturing him? Hmm, is an Eclipse considered efficient? SSD vs. ESD: Well, stat wise the ESD, but it's not that simple considering how the ESD is used. The ESD shield is just like the DS shield.
  11. Nice buy with the 350z there JH, quality motormechanics. I take it from the pic that you went for the roadster? Did you go auto or manual? If you went manual I'm curious what you think of the shifter, I've heard some people don't notice that it's a short shifter and others can't stand it. So, a little first hand review would be neet My brother was considering a 350z, an RX8 and an M3 a while back for good reason before getting his latest car. Now, random time: Moskau
  12. Could be wrong, but I think Eagle's referring to the SWR site - which was down the other day. Triumph motorbikes
  13. Enjoy your first car Def. It'll have a lot of stories to tell one day Oh China, will you ever learn?
  14. Awesome! Don't get too wasted there Rob
  15. Exactly! AvP2 had an absolutely awesome story - perfect movie right there, completely linear, 3 sided with no real individual winners - they all more or less win in their own way and would please audiences. Same goes for Doom. Doom 3 was a brilliant game with a brilliant story - and yet it got thrown out the window for some half ass, b rated crap with The Rock. As soon as I heard he was in the movie, I knew it was bad. At least this new AvP looks better than the first ... however, some scenes hinted at the Predators killing humans for no reason. The original Pred movies clearly showed that they were hunters and wouldn't harm civies. But, that's only if you care about continuity @Eagle: I've always been a fan of the Leopard IIs, and was disappointed that the Aussie Defence force overlooked them (even though we've still got Leopard Is) for our new MBT. That being said, some of our brass wasn't just disappointed at the purchase, but felt that MBTs were a useless purchase for us.
  16. Aerial Atoms are fantastic track cars - on a short track with tight corners they'll give real sports cars and super cars a run for their money even if they're rear engined supercharged 2 litre straight 4. On the open road...well, that's another deal - no creature comforts..at all I think if I had money, I'd buy something like a Audi A6 4.2 Quattro or BMW 540i and have an Atom in the garage for the weekend. Mature audience only: AvP Requiem - bloody If a business was like a forum. NSFW! Swearing And I hate spiders
  17. Looks like the little fella is photoshoping! What will they do next?

  20. OUCH! What are the odds? A ton of fun Nice name... How much can we trust Wikipedia now? $600 mil? Chump change
  21. Paper weight! Well I never! The marble part seems oddly familur, but I don't seem to remember much of those experiences It's not that bad! I can see what others are doing - it's like the ultimate way to cheat on a test Brilliant My species and I joined the Rebellion and Republic because the Empire mistreated us. My family and I were kept on the Emperor's desk as a Netwon Cradle! Where's the humanity!?!

  23. For those looking forward to bioshock - they've created a nifty art book for the game (two versions, 75mb (currently downloading) and a smaller 15mb) A word of warning though, they have stated that there are spoilers in the pdf - so be careful reading it if you're looking forward to this awesome game. Bioshock: The Cult of Rapture - Art book
  24. A true 3d projector Press release with more pictures EDIT: Endeavour’s problem
  25. Rantar sniffed at the steaming cup of caff. No, caff is only what they called it in the mess hall. A better description would be boiled black water that shouldn't kill you... straight away. He took a sip and gagged straight away. Sometimes I think trying to save this planet just isn't worth the drinks we get. He stood in the make shift command room, awaiting the usual reports, like he had done every morning since...well, since he could remember starting this whole mess. But this morning was different. Sure enough he was as tired as ever, and as in desperate need for fresh clothing and a shave. Though now he was happy too. "Sir?" Bewildered, Rantar spun to see one of his lieutenants looking at him with a puzzled expression. Rantar gladly returned the puzzled look, not knowing the reason behind the goofy face. "Sir, I was calling you." "You were? Ha ..." Rantar's eyes drifted off to the floor. No matter how tired, or how much fun I have I need to stay in this game "Guess the old age is getting to me - what's the news?" The lieutenant, still a little puzzled, handed over a data pad. "Afton has gotten together her unit for trial runs - here's a run down of the personnel. I'll get you the results once it's over." "No need, I think I'll go watch this." Rantar replied, not realising his smile had returned. "Sir? You're needed her in the Op-Con." "Somehow I doubt that. Besides - you can simply go get me if needed. I'd like to see how our future assault squads are." OOC: It has been a while Good to see you're still poking your head in here
