  1. Nice! Meanwhile, I have started making a comic. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/RiesstiuIV/AoJ/LA_p1_sml.jpg Page 1, pages 2 and 3 are in concept phase right now.
  2. Trying to move into the realm of "true," handdrawn (yet digital) animation... This stuff is more work than it looks like! http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/4859/ltsbr0wt.gif
  3. Sweet. 'Now witness the subwoofer of this fully plugged and operational sound system!'
  4. Wooh! Thanks loads, Griffin!
  5. Hmm, come to think of it.. though most games were sold on the European market, at the time of Rebellion not all games were translated (I call those the good times. Translations, and more importantly dubbed versions are generally bad). I remember Dark Forces and Jedi Knight being in English, as well as X-Wing vs. TIE-Fighter. So I guess Rebellion was special.
  6. Heh. Tofu, if you actually want to hear Reb voices in German, I can arrange that. I would only need a couple english files in return...
  7. Heh, if that's the same thing I've seen before, there's lots of good puns in there. Thai-Fighters, heheh.
  8. Hey everyone. This weekend, I discovered what I had saved of my Genesis Conflict TC on a CD (for those of you who don't know, it's a mod that is supposed to bring Star Trek to Rebellion) and I realized that if I ever wanted to share this thing with the community it'd better not be in German. For me, owning only the german version of the game, that is some kind of problem. So, who of you folks can send me the bunch of text files I'd need to englishify SWR, and, first of all, what files exactly whould I need? (textstra.dll is a must, obviously, encyctext or whatsitcalled, too.) The dlls containing speech would be helpful as well, although I plan on replacing much of it. Cheers, --Fishface
  9. I agree, but much of it is not my doing; THIS is what it looked like before I found it. I intend to polish the article some more and get rid of all confusing sentences and useless paragraphs, but I'm kinda working on five things at once and don't know when I'll find the time and patience.
  10. This reminds me: I've recently found Rebellion's page on Wikipedia and edited it a bit (I am the one named RiesstiuIV). I invite everyone to expand, proofread and correct the article.
  11. Ah, I've thought about it some more and I can see what you mean now, MDk. Of course, if the mass of the fuel doesn't exceed the mass of the spacecraft, the craft will never accelerate past the relative speed between rocket and gas without aids such as gravity slingshots.
  12. Wait, MDk... No. Consider a rocket (at rest) with mass M and expelled gases with total mass of m. The rocket pushes the gas out with a speed of v. Then, according to Newton's third law, mv = MV , where V is the resulting speed of the rocket. Most of the times, gases will weigh a lot less than the rocket, but we can still assume the following scenario: Consider m to be 10*M. V would then equal 10 v. The rocket would speed away from the gases at ten times their speed. Also, if you fire more gases from your rocket, the total impulse will still have to be balanced out, so you will accelerate further. your own speed matters only if you consider relativistic effects (which would be useless for this discussion). The speed of the gases does matter, but it is only a limit to acceleration, not top speed. The only real top speed is the speed of light (assuming we don't find a way to break it sometime in the future). The real technical limitation is that if you want to accelerate to desired speeds, you'll want to avoid running out of fuel. So the solution is, as you've said correctly, to accelerate smaller particles at higher speeds. Then, if you remember the equation MV=mv above, v will be very large, so m doesn't have to be. This is what ion drives accomplish.
  13. First of all, one thing: Weightless, yes. Without inertia, NO. Inertia exists everywhere. It's the force you experience when you try to change the velocity of any object, even in space! And to clarify, inertia does not change your speed nor put a limit on your top speed, it works against changes of movement, meaning it tries to keep you moving in a straight line at constant velocity. Just felt I had to point it out. But you are correct that there should be no speed limit in sapce. In the movies, there is indeed no reason to assume that large ships were limited to low speeds. The Star Destroyers hunting the Falcon are the best example. But: Small ships have lower mass. For this reason, they have it easier to accelerate further with even less thrust than the large ship. So while the Falcon could accelerate to a certain speed in a matter of seconds, the SD' would have to accelerate for a much longer time, or put incredible amounts of energy into the engines to keep up (assuming their engines were powerful enough for that, which I doubt). They would also have a hard time changing their direction of flight as inertia would try to keep them moving on a straight line. So in short, while capital ships could move at the same speeds as small ones, they would require more time to get to that speeds, which they don't always have in combat situations. As for why they work the way they do in games, it's just a decision by the game-makers. People expect big things to be slower and more sluggish than small ones. The analogy for SW space combat has always been WW2 naval battles - Large, lumbering warships with small, nimble fighters buzzing around in between. So that is what combat tends to look like.
  14. Hahaha!! Those... funny... laughing...
  15. Snatch was brilliant. Customs Official: "Do you have anything to declare, sir?" Avi: "Yeah. Don't go to England." Avi: "Should I call you Bullet? Tooth?" Bullet Tooth Tony: "You can call me Susan if it makes you happy."
  16. Saw it. Was a bit disappointed, but still liked it. The styling and overall look of this film are great (except for the Batmobile, quite honestly), the action is good, and the characters are well drawn out. Very good performances by Bale, Michael Caine, Liam Neeson and, most notably I think, Gary Oldman. Just some elements I think could have been used more work. (The scenes with the Scarecrow's fear drug were cool but simply too short, especially when Holmes's character inhales some, while the beginning was rather boring. But I like what they did with Ra's al Ghul's character and the interesting plot turn that's part of it.) I missed the Burton touch the first two had, as well as Danny Elfman's most brilliant music that graced those two, but all in all it was an enjoyable movie.
  17. All the answers in this thread...
  18. Yes, I would say so. My point is, I've seen OT characters in the Others section as well as EU. Piett, Tarkin, Motti, they don't really appear in the EU, and I think they have no fitting place right now. But I see your point; a lot of subjectivity would come into play here. No, I have no such knowledge, unfortunately. So for now it seems I can't really help.
  19. My signature... I don't remember how I did it, but I'll play around with PS and when I find how to do it I'll tell you.
  20. I would like to renew my previous statement about the need for different categories. I think we should have at least: Original Trilogy Prequel Trilogy Expanded Universe Other The Rebellion section is fine to be in there, too, but it lacks some cards (I remember looking for Borsk Fey'lya who wasn't there) Also, the Episode I and II can be merged into a PT section, including RotS cards as well (seeing as they already pop up). A full list might be: Rebellion Original Trilogy Prequel Trilogy SW Games Expanded Universe Other Sci-Fi Other ...just some ideas. My main goal would be to reduce the number of OT and games characters in the EU section. Well, games could be in there, but OT stuff shouldn't. Also, there should be descriptions of the sections for new card-makers. Then there's the issue of SW characters made up by the card makers... I think those shouldn't be in the EU, but that's a matter of opinion. I would like to help with that, as I think the card section is of real importance and I like to sort and organize databases and stuff, but I have no knowledge of the technical side of things. However, should you agree with my suggestions, I would take on the task of reorganizing the existing cards database. -- Adm.Fishface
  21. Welcome back, o Dark Lord of the Spam!
  22. Krytos, that's pretty... pretty! Here's two 15 minute sketches... Second one is a bit empty, but I kinda ran out of time. http://img224.echo.cx/img224/8639/exeboom27ti.th.jpghttp://img224.echo.cx/img224/5596/sluggingmatch0hr.th.jpg
