@Texas_Fett: Aah, nice to see someone play another of my favorite games. I play almost exclusively per email and think it leads to great games because people put more thought into their moves. I ABSOLUTELY recommend you look for an internet gaming community. I usually play at the german Ludomaniac community (http://www.Ludomaniac.de) but of course all games are played in german which probably poses a problem. They do however offer special beginners games, where you can brush up your skills against other newbies. I expect this will be the case elsewhere as well. And before you ask (I know you won´t): Here´s the link to my recent game as Italy: http://de.geocities.com/diplo_rudi/Partie557 (I just had to show that one off). It´s also mostly in german, but that doesn´t make the map any harder to read.

And I was thinking you were just spamming. My bad. Are you tryin to say I spam or something? The merest shadow of a hint of the idea has never even dreamed of considering of crossing my mind.

Hi, as a newbie trying to learn the ropes of multiplayer gaming, I miss posts about successful strategies for either side. I´m also playing a lot of DIPLOMACY (the boardgame not the crappy PC version) and there´s no end of advice on the net for it. How about you big shots writing a piece about your favorite sneaky underhand way to dispose of your enemies? Perhaps the admins could open a new section for these. Think of the glory of having people learn from your experience! I´d try to write something myself, but I´m a noob and besides couldn´t write an decent article if my life depended on it. By the way: Everybody read CP´s post in the AAR thread. It´s really funny and a good example of what people can contribute to this site.

I think you´ll find most ALLIANCE members are Rebels. Excepting traitors of course.
-
Nah, it wasn´t that bad really. You´d understand if you knew who it was ... Of course I´d like to play you again. Just need to find the time. I´ll get back to you.

Hi, since my last opponent complained I wasn´t enough of a challenge (name withheld to protect the guilty) I´d like to play online against someone who´s (relatively) new to multiplayer games. I prefer Rebels and like to play at a leisurely pace ...

Rebels all the way. Can´t stand the Imps "The Good Guys always have to win!" whine.

How realistic are the last 15 minutes of Return of the Jedi
BoShek replied to igorimp's topic in General Discussion
All considerations on "realism" set aside I think if you let the Battle of Endor spoil your fun for all the movies (not to mention novels, games etc.) that´s your problem. I feel sorry for you. At least it doesn´t keep you away from this site. -

People who make SW Rebellion not worth playing online...
BoShek replied to roguey's topic in Rebellion Multiplayer
You learn the most when you play someone who´s better than you. Or at least that´s the thought that keeps me going. @Lebarronn: I think it takes a lot of courage to discuss your personality in this forum and also a good deal of reflection on your part. I´d say those are positive traits ... -
Link is: http://www.gamespyarcade.com Duh! (never thought that was hard to find) Just download the program, go online, start it and enter the Rebellion room. You need to have the game installed, because the program checks installed games. But then, if you wanna play installing the game is a good start at any rate. If you still encounter problems post again. Are you a newbie? I´m lookig for someone I can beat for a change.

The Tie Interceptor: Bane of the Rebel Alliance
BoShek replied to Texas_Fett's topic in Gaming Stories
Well, that´s what we come here for: Getting away from these boring *normal* people (No offense to your wife, mine or anybody elses for that matter). I laughed out loud when I got to that 500 squadrons part! I´d love to have seen your face at that moment. It just goes to show: The Force sides with the most fighters (or something to that amount). However I still miss the word Tie-Defender in your story. I had hoped for a chance to commemorate my time playing Tie Fighter on my PC. Oh, those were the days... To this day I´m convinced, that NOTHING beats the Defender and find it underrated in Rebellion. -
Oh yeah, and don´t forget: "Arguing on the internet is like the Special Olympics: Even if you win, you´re still retarded." - (unknown)

How realistic are the last 15 minutes of Return of the Jedi

Thanks for your support but I was hoping for some harsh criticism to get a discussion going. So: come on you Imps. P.S.: Also I think "fucking insane" is a little over the top. -
Hey, look I made corporal! Yippiee, me good.!
-
I came up as Darth Vader, too. Suits me: Tall, Powerful, completely imperial and I´ll switch sides at PRECISELY the right moment to bring down that arrogant old fart Palpatine ... ... and end up dead? Hey, wait, there´s a mistake here somwhere!

How realistic are the last 15 minutes of Return of the Jedi
BoShek replied to igorimp's topic in General Discussion
Ok, here goes what will be considered a very unpopular opinion: Imp fans: Stop beeing such whiners! "Oww, our glorious powerful Empire is kaputt! No fair! We should have won!" Of course the Rebels won. Who could possibly want a different ending? Vader and the Emperor slaughter or capture the heroes, annihilate the Alliance and happily go on blowing up peaceful unarmed planets along with billions of innocent people? The idea is enough to make you sick. The good guys alway win. Since when do action movies or fairy tales have to be realistic? I for one would rather enjoy an unrealistic happy ending showing how good ultimately triumphs over evil than trot out of the cinema convinced that all efforts are in vain, because the evil empire is just too powerful. The almighty Empire squashes the puny but virtuous Rebels who never had a real chance in the first place. Great story. I´m sure millions would flock to the movie theaters to watch three entire films about this. *sarcasm alert* I also find the nitpicking tiring by people quoting some reference that was put together years after the film by peolpe who did not have to worry about making a movie people enjoy. Although they contradict the original story (the films) somehow they are considered more acurate than the real thing. I honestly think GL doesn´t have to take the rap from them. Its much easier to criticise later than come up with a compelling story. In my opinion there´s always an explanation even for the seemingly improbable. At leas the Thrawn Theory tries to make sense out of the "facts" of the imperial defeat at Endor instead of crying "We were robbed!". To me there were probably just too many mistakes made. Maybe the Emperor made his trap a little TOO inviting by reducing troops on the Endor moon, maybe the imperial fleet pulled their punches to relish the imminent victory more ("I think you overestimate their chances!"). IT SIMPLY DOESN´t MATTER. The story goes that way its moot to whine about it. If you can´t live with tha battle of Endor, maybe you should just watch TESB over and over and pretent ROTJ didn´t happen. So , rant over .... Assassinate me for it, but this needed to be said. Anyone who wants to get back at me for this is invited to stomp my Rebels in a game of Rebellion. I´m not very good yet. -
Damn, I always seem to attract the same people. Just joking. That was a neat game, although I had trouble keeping up. Oh yeah, AND you kidnapped that poor farmer Luke.

Now about that idea of yours for a golden "assault-and-scrap" medal ...

Hi, in multiplayer I have difficulties keeping up with the gamespeed even at slow. Messages seem to be coming in too fast. Any tips on speeding things up?

I played a game yesterday with a guy I met at the Gamespy Arcade just one hour earlier. I´ve been there three times so far and have found an opponent almost immediately twice. The third time I had to wait for an hour before someone showed up. We didn´t play then, because my comp crashed and when I got back, he was gone. Moral: Gamespy is a good place to go if you´re looking for a game on short notice. I recommend it. Anyone else want to share their opinion?

I, well, didn´t expressively say so, did I? But there are those who quite live up to the description given there ... @Trejiuvanat: Thanks for the explanation. I´ll mosey over to the profile manager and give it a try.
