O.k. here goes: It sucks because - it´s militaristic - it´s completely out if SW character - it´s pointing its ugly firestick right at my face. Get rid of it.

If the Royal Guard is out, I´ll agree with Valkir and go with the snowtrooper. The cowl give them a menacing faceless look.

I´ll try to answer your questions one after the other: - No, I do not use a firewall. - With msnm I have the following trouble: on my office machine, I have installed the prog but can´t make the connection to msn. First I thought it was because I didn´t have Internet Explorer installed, so I did. Still didn´t work. On my home comp. Msnm works, but when I tried to play against Lebarronnn_90 the "check" button in the multiplayer menu wasn´t highlighted, so it couldn´t be clicked. Also we got no end of strange messages on the chat. Incidentally we were then able to play via IP connection proving the problem with the other players had not been on my side. - I looked up my IP on ipchicken.com and told my opponents to do likewise. This worked well on three occasions so I figure that wasn´t the problem.

Well, thanks for the enormous amount of helpful advice. Four days and not a single reply ... BTW I know about the option of using MSN messenger to connect but have encountered different problems with that thing.

Actually liked it better big. I think the edges look a tad fuzzy now. Anyhow I just dropped by to confirm I dutifully reported my defeat yesterday at your hands. Total defeat after a mere 286 days ... Still can´t believe it.

Hi, tonight I tried to set up a game over IP connection no less than four times with different players at Gamespy. None of us could find the game the other one set up. One voiced the opinion, that the router (whatever that is) he uses kept him from making the connection. Does anyone have an idea what could be the cause? It has to be said that I was using our machine at home not the comp at the office I have used so far without problems. Could a virus protector get in the way? Help, I´m clueless. Not to mention annoyed, talk about a waste of time. Are there any other ways of setting up a connection?

Well, anything that floats your boat, right ? Although I had rather expected something along the line of: built up my fire mage throughout the game and used him to blast the mummies and didn´t move anything in the final battle until the cannons had obliterated *everything* in range (takes some 30 minutes, enemy doesn´t attack unless you move). Anyway that´s what I did. Congrats anyway for winning a very difficult battle.

Hi, thanks for actually bothering to look! From what I read Germany actually IS doing a lot better in a game with german players. Make of it what you will... Ahem... as I stated above in this particular game I have the responsibility to lead the Kingdom of Italy... I have no favorite power yet. I´m trying to play them all in a row to get a feeling for each. But email games usually take about 9 months so it takes a little patience. I have managed to win one game so far with Austria (!). Thanks for your Rebellion story. That´s exactly what I had hoped for. Your tactic is inspired from knowledge of the game mechanics (knowing the enemy units will be sent back if the destination is blockaded). This gives readers a chance to learn something new.

Besides wondering how you can dislike real time strategy but name Rebellion and Dark Omen as your first picks here´s what I´d really like to know: Did you manage to win the final battle in Dark Omen? If so I´d like to compare strategy with you. Didn´t that game have an internet play option !? I´d go back to that game in a heartbeat! Also (like I said elsewhere already) my pick for best strategy game ever (ok, since 1953): Diplomacy (boardgame played by email, not PC version)

Inciting a revolt can take a lot of time. but ... You ARE aware that you can assault the planet with your own troops from orbit aren´t you ? I took the liberty to answer your post about colonizing planets and it left me wondering. If you knew: No offense. If not: Here´s the answer to 90% of your questions: RTFM !

No bar, no population, ergo no one to use diplomacy on. You have to take the planet over with a unit of your own from a fleet in orbit. The planet then is immediately 100% loyal to your side. I´m sure it IS in the manual.

Hi dinochick, around here (Germany) this story has circulated for what must have been a decade now. It´s definitely an urban myth. Still funny though...

Neat story and a reminder that you should never give up. But I would have liked more specifics: which side did you play? What were the fleets composed of?
