Star Wars: Battlefront
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Grand_Admiral_Thrawn's topic in General Discussion
Mad, all you need is a 40-80 gig HD, a new processor ($75 for the one Bad mentioned is pretty good), a decent video card (pretty much anything with 128 RAM on it will suffice, but you can go for the best if you want to spend the $$$), and 512 meg of RAM, as 1gig is excessive. Just earch around for prices. Most of this stuff you can put in yourself since it just slips in. -
Yes, there is that. But that samn flux-capaciter makes me wonder if it's worth all the trouble .

ISD's vs VSDs vs Mon Cals

I'd be more concerned about TIEs with shields. THose things would be harder to take down... but I guess they wouldn't be as mobile as if they had hyperdrives. -

I bought a 40G HD for $120. So for around $160 you could upgrade your computer to a 2400 with a 128mb video card and a 40g HD... if you've got enough RAM... and your motherboard will support the Video Card and processor... if not then add around ... $60 more. -
ISD's vs VSDs vs Mon Cals

Yeah, or anything bigger than an ISD I guess -
The theory you have presented is also the basis for time travel, which is impossible. There is no way to manipulate time as time is linear. Think of it as a constantly lenghtening line, with the present at the apex. There is nothing before us, therefor we cannot go ahead. We cannot go back because the time we came from would not exist at that point. It's hard to explain, but once you get it, it seems simple.

I doubt the system reqs are very high for the game, after all, it's using the BF1942 engine. Right now you can upgrade you PC to a 2400 for $100 (and that's Canadian!), and an Nvidia Ge-force 4 4400ti is only around $120 (also Canadian). As long as your mother board can accomodate these, you could upgrade your computer for around $100 (American). -
Pre ANH Roleplay: The Start!!!

OOC: GASP! ADJ, you called it a CLOCK! I'm sur eyou meant chrono . IC: The hiss/whine of the TIE Interceptors could be heard through the heavy durasteel of the Vengeance's command tower. Out the front viewport drifted five other ships: two Imperial Star Destroyers, the Tyrant and the Archon, and three Victory Star Destroyers, the Death's Head, Vigilant and the Viper. The TIEs were running dog-fighting tests against the rebel X-Wing. There were whispers that some pilots preferred the X-Wing, though openly admitting that was not a good idea. The fleet had arrived at Kuat Drive Yards' primary research facility to recieve a new compliment of fighters, the experimental the TIE Interceptors. It's speed and quad lasters made it formidable, as did the ship's maneuverability. Pilots who had tested it complained that the lack of shields barly made it an improvement upon the original TIE fighter, though it was not sufficient to stop produciton. "All ships in the fleet have recieved thier complement of the new fighters sir. The pilots are docking thier Interceptors at the research facility and will be shuttled aboard their ships." "Excellent," Thrawn replied, "I want the fleet ready to leave in one hour. I'll be in my quarters." -
FTL travel is possible, the only problem is the Theory of Relativity. Sure there are some parts of it that have been proven wrong, but the fact that we can't accelerate to the speed of light is till a problem. We need to find a way to reach the speed of light without having to accelerate to it...

Really? I don't think I'd want to go up against a Star Destroyer no matter what... well, unless I was in an Eclypse Super Star Destroyer. -

I like the motto. It ties in nicely with the novels. We are fighting in the past, living in the present, looking forward ot the future. -
Pre ANH Roleplay: The Start!!!
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to ElvisMiggell's topic in Role Playing - 1
OOC:Welcome, to the RPG! We needed another Rebel . IC: The Imperial Star Destroyer Judicator hung beside therepare bays at Kuat Drive Yards primary repare bay, in the Kuat system. While the damage recieved at Mon Calamari was minor, sufficient hull damage had been recieved to warrant a complete overhaul. The vessel was to be upgraded to the Mk. II design. "A brief command, hm sir?" "Indeed, though not fatally so. The ship has been requesitioned to serve in Death Squadron. That is why she is being converted." "And what of the Judicator's crew?" Most will remain with here. You commander, however, are being transferred to the Executor." "And you sir?" "The Vengeance awaits my command. A fitting name for retribution against the rebels." After a brisk salute from the commander, Thrawn spun crisply on one heal and marched towards the shuttle bay. -

Nice mad, thought perhaps the lightsbers could be replaced by blasters, since there will be no Jedi in the game? We'll save you a spot, not to worry. How much would you have to upgrade to play, do you think? -
ISD's vs VSDs vs Mon Cals

That's true. The empire could build thousands of TIEs for the cost of a single ISD. Pluss, those TIEs would take less manpower to man than the ISD. -
And I thought I was Geek!

I think I'd be too embarassed to wear that type of thing even at a convention. As if the fact that you're at a Star Wars convention surrounded by people who live, eat, and breath it, you have to dress up as a character from the movie only to be picked apart by them. No thanks! -
That will only betheresult if global warming occurs as predicted. Actually, there has been research done on gloabl warming, and the results show that the polar caps are getting colder, not warmer. I think you've been watching too much Judge Dread Mad . I think that with the current population growth, as well as up-and-comming technology we may well live on a planet that looks like Coruscant. We may have even managed to break the boundries of our solar system.

We'll probably be the first clan for the game. I doubt there are any out there yet, since the game is still about two months away from release (September 21). The only problem we will have is that some of us (me) will refuse to fight as the rebels, unless the there are not spots on the Imperial side . -
Hyperspace is sort of a sub-layer of the universe, similar to Star Trek's subspace. It is an alternate dimension that exists within the SW dimension (as proven by the effect of gravity in regular space on hyperspace). You could use hyperspace to gain access to other dimensions. Perhaps humans arrived here through a mistake in hyperspace calculations.

Imagine the havoc we would cause? There would be non-stop chatter, either using mics or text. Oh, the wonderful havoc! -
A more likely explaination is that we exist in alternate dimensions. Note that we call it the "Star Wars Universe", not Galaxy. This in and of its self implies a different dimension (since ony once universe can exist because it is the culmination of all that is). Therefor there isn't any thing to really explain.

Star Wars: Battlefront
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Grand_Admiral_Thrawn's topic in General Discussion
I read in PC Gamer (I think) that there will be restrictions on vehicle hi-jacking. FOr example, if a vehicle is abandoned in the middle of the battlefield, the opposing team can take control of it. However, if the vehicle is inside an enemy base, it can only be controlled by that faction. Also, if a base is captured the vehicles will convert to the capping faction's. As for a clan, I think we could get a lot of people to join an SWR clan, though it would be better to simply play without a clan. The tast of forming a heirarchy can be a pain. -
I think there was mention that the Chiss had better eye-sight than humans. It would also explain why they make such good pilots. It is also more likely that the Chiss evolved from humans, since they have so many improvements upon the human body (better reflexes, eyesight, intellignece, longer life span) SoT, I doubt there will ever be a link between the SW universe and ours. The fact that is says "A galaxy far, far away" doesn't mean that it is even in our universe (hence the "Star Wars Universe"). And it would be sort of counter-productive because it would destroy the fantasy of the whole thing.

ISD's vs VSDs vs Mon Cals
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Grand_Admiral_Thrawn's topic in General Discussion
But Y-Wings, B-Wings and K-Wings aren't fighters, they're bombers. I suppose having a strictly capp ship navy would be a bad idea, no matter how good the anti-fighter power of the caps is. Jus think how bad WW II would have been if the allies only used AA guns, and not fighters. -
ISD's vs VSDs vs Mon Cals
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Grand_Admiral_Thrawn's topic in General Discussion
That's actually something I didn't understand about the Rogue Squadron series. X-Wings are fighter-to-fighter... erm fighters. They would be all but useless against capitol ships. Sure, you can load them up with proton torpedoes, but even a squadron of X-Wings launchign all of their warheads at once can't take out an ISD (The Death Star is the exception to this, obviousley ) I'd personally be more worried about B-Wings or even Y-Wings, but both are slow enough to be easy targets.
