That fourth dimension being time. The universe literally has physical limits. There are boarders, but not at any distance we can envision. Since we're sort of talking astrophysics, I've done some research, and the creator of the Star Wars Technical Commentaries (I know, I bash him too much, but that site really pisses me off) is not employed by the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie in Bonne. There is no record of his employment there on their web site (He's not listed under thier staff section either.)

Pre ANH Roleplay: The Start!!!
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to ElvisMiggell's topic in Role Playing - 1
OOC: Um, those globes on the command towers have to be shield generators. Why? Because after they were destroyed by the A-Wing, Ackbar said "Thier shields are down". Why else? Because if they were sensor globes, they would have been protected by the shilds. If they were shiled generators they would NOT be protected. The generators would have to create a conical field that would not include them. WHY ELSE? Because every TIE fighter game, and X-Wing Alliance, all trademarked and copyrighted property of LucasArts games and there for of George Lucas, say they are. I know that in interviews with some Lucasfilm personell they were quoted as aying they were sensor domes, but I've yet to hear any concrete arguments that would suport that... IC: Thrawn stared out the viewport as the two ships dissapeared into hyperspace. The flight of Interceptors was returning to the hold. "Sir, shal we persue?" "No, let them go." Thrawn spun and walked off the command deck. Everything was proceeding as planned. -
ISD's vs VSDs vs Mon Cals

The Alpha Class Xg-1 Assault Gunboat was developed by Cygnus Spaceworks to be the first general pupose fighter used by the empire. Clearly it didn't work out that way, but they got the contract anyways. They're also th only company other than Kuat to have an Imperial Contract for space vessels. -
Not sure how this spread to two threads (perhaps the topic is limitless ), but the universe has ever expanding boarders, so there is no way to measure the limits. Suffice it to say that they are there, but we can't, and probably never will, see them. As to what is beyond them, nothing. I don't mean vacuume, I mean literally nothing. There is no existence beyond the boarders of the universe.

Well, if you follow the "big bang" theory (my preferred favourite) then the universe was once compacted into a single mass until I exploded outwards. There are two forces at work that caused this explosion and can still be found today. Gravity and waht physicists call simply "dark energy" (not in any way related to dark matter). DE is pretty much anti-gravity since it "pushes" rather than "pulls". It is this dark energy that is continually pushing the universe to expand, which has the unfortunate side-effect of pushing the contents of the universe farther appart. So basically the limit to the universse is constantly expanding.. until the force of dark energy is insufficient to continue the expanding of the universe, at which point gravity will win and the universe will begin to contract.

Star Wars: Battlefront

They'll be including a 3rd person option? I guess that would be following with the rest of their shooter games. Welcome Jess! Fell free to add your two credits anytime! -
Why would they give the designs to Tarkin? The Emperor was in charge, so he would be the obviouse destination for the plans. Perhaps they gave it to Tarkin, who gave it to Sidious, who gave it to Dooku to hide away?

I'm happy with all of the changes except the ones involving Temuera Morrison. WHo says that all the Stormtroopers were clones? Why should they be!? I never liked Temuera Morrison. And change Boba Fetts voice? NO! AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Star Wars: Battlefront

I didn't mean that there weren't a lot (though I guess that's what I said isn't it ), I just meant that the Jedi/Trooper rations was around 5:10. The Jedi weren't the bulk of the troops. -
All other forums I've been to have thier members there prtty much all day. I posted inthe Imperial Assault forum and had a response from two people in rappid succession. Unless the forums rules are being violated, I think that the users should be able to regulate them selves. Also, I didn't say IMs have eliminated chat rooms, I said that fewer people use them because of IMs. The same is true of in-peron meatings. At my work, why would my boss fly way the hell up-north to meat with some one they can conference call? They don't even frive 45 min to Toronto to meat with the big guys there. I understand that there was only a few people posting in close proximity to one another, but if other, newer members wanted to post, they would. there is nothing stopping them, they need only to catch up. I was gone for what, a year, and got back into the swing of things quickly. Pallaeon, Thumper, the new girl Jess in the RPG, they've all jumped in. If the forum stagnates while waiting for one of hte new members to jump in, we'll be in big trouble. There's no flaming going on here to scare them off. Most people join up to have an identity here, and to allow them to post should something they've got an opinion on come up. My anger is not directed at the fact that you wanted to slow things down on that thread, but that you took the choice away from us. If you want thins slower, writing in the formu rules that you can only post so often, or set the forum up that way.

Star Wars: Battlefront

If you want to play as a Jedi, play Jedi Knight II. the purpose of Battlegront is to focus on the role of the every-day trooper. There weren't any Jedi in Ep. 4-6 fighitng the main battles, and only a few in the Clone Wars. I for one welcome a game without force powers. -

JO has that anoying enemy spawn though. If you play Co-op, they just keep comming some times... -
Ok, I have to post this here because the topic I am speaking about has been locked. I understand the need to elimate spam. It's anoying, and it makes it difficult to find the relavent topic in a thread. This said, the locking of a topic that is perfectly ON TOPIC is obsurd. Such acts will slowly strangle a forum until no none wants to post for fear of having the topic locked. "Go to a chat room" you say. There are few people who use chat room any more. Why? Because instant messengers have elimenated them almost completely. Again, I know spam is a pain in the ass, but we weren't spamming the NJO thread, yet you lock it!? The quick responces you see on this forum are a sign of a living community. WHy would a new member come if they see that the moderators restrict the ammount of posts permited in a certain time frome, or that a thread hasn't been replied to from fear of the post being considered spam? I have yet to see another forum with this sort of obsessive controle. I'm sure you're thinking "then go to those other forums". People just might. END RANT

Star Wars: Battlefront

It's basically BF1942 but completely SW. There may be oth features added in, but the SW features are the boon. For how far along they are in developemnet (or suppose to be) there really isn't a lot of info on the game. -
Well, I hope he comes back soon. I need him here to assist me in his defection in the RPG.

That's what I get for watching Electric Playground. For some reason they actually did a revu on that game. It actually rated quite high. -

ST vs SW is too touchy a subject, and moot to boot.

The game will be released September 21, and with LucasArts, they usually stick to their release dates (except for Force Commander...). And I think games would be like this without shooting. WARNING:Only the brave should click on the official site link! http://www.vugames.com/product.do?gamePlatformId=527 -
Something about Star Wars NJO Novels?

Force adepts are one thing. I can see them escaping the purge since they weren't Jedi. As for the others, Yoda would have been there 'till the end, and would have known about them. The Emperor would have known about them too, and he probably knew about Yoda. They could have sensed them through the force, but the reading would have been too faint as to allow for a location (Vader was right above Tatooine and didn't know Kenobi was there). Remeber, the Empire had only been around for about 24 years at the end of Return of the Jedi. If there were to be Jedi, the Empire would have known. -

Capitol ships would be pointless anyways. ONly Tarkin was stupid enough tp take them into the atmosphere. As for a pilotable AT-AT, i'm also scheptical since the legs don't pivot, so how the hell does the thing turn? You comments on the 6800 are true. It would perform a lot better than the 9800 Radeon, but if you want a good systme for cheap, that's not the best way to go. I'd go for hte X800 anyways. the ATI had better performance than the 6800 on most things, though for Doom 3 the NVidia is better. -
Ok, some rebuttles: 1. There would be no evidence of time travel, because that would be in the future, and as I stated before, time is linear (to the other dimensions. Time is the 4th dimension in physics) and there for follows the events of the present. The future hasn't happened yet, so how can time travelers come from a future that doesn't exist yet. 2. The belief that because there are alien races we would know about them because they would have made contact is thinking pretty highly of the human race. Any species that has the capability for inter-stellar travel woud view us as barbaric in a way. And who says they would want to make contact anyways? What would they have to gain? The universe is extremely vast (not limitless as believed by some, but big enough for it not to matter), full of galaxies, solar systems, planets ans stars. In each galaxy there a billions upon billions of planets, and of those there is a good chance that at least onc is capable of supporting life. In our galaxy, ours may be the only such planet, but the chances are pretty good that we aren't, and any belief otherwise is ignorant of the facts. In the end, Jahled's comment that we should simply live is good advice. Live, and let be what will be. No one can tell you the future (let's not get into that agani), and only you and your fellow brothers and sisters can shape that future.

I wasn't sure where all of those Jedi came from, or why they couldn't fill Luke in on all of the info about the old Jedi Order, or why they didn't take command. Actually, the introduction of jedi who had been hiding is a little stupid if you think about it. Yoda was the most powerful of the Old Order, yet he didn't know they were out htere? Give me a break! Yoda siad "When gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be". To me that means there were no Jedi cowering on some rim planet. Bloody EU authors... -

That's a pretty good video card for a very good price. If you get a system like that, you'll be able to handle pretty much any game, for a while that is. I like the new Blason, it incorperates everything I like about the Empire. -
I agree that here is a lot of stupid stiff that writers have added simply for the sake of writing a book, but since GL's companies have given the writers the ok to do it, he should respect thier creativity. It is also up to us, as the fans, to look for links. Simply because those little bugs have the plans for the Death Star doesn't mean the Bevel can't ahve done it. He could have been working on it in the Maw facility and transferred it to Dooku(sp?) for safe keaping.
