Graphical rendering problems or random crashes (ie. rebexe.exe has caused an invalid page fault... or something to the effect). Rebexe.exe crashes are a known problem across all operating systems. LucasArts knew of the problem when the game was released but didn't give a crap enough to devote resources to patching the problem.

When you say unnatural the %85 Sheep, %15 Human hybrid comes to mind. Maybe scientists could figure out how to make the human genome into a functional hermaphroditic organism then nobody would have to worry about being gay or straight. Your requirement is dependent on whether your opponent has Supremacy and you have Rebellion. You cannot mix the two in 1.00 so keep that in mind during international matchups. In this case you must patch. Otherwise I do agree that 1.00 is less problematic for two Rebellion players.

Sounds like a router issue then. If either computer has a router between the cable/dsl modem try setting the DMZ option to the IP of the computer behind the router that is trying to connect out. This is not ideal from a security perspective but it will help troubleshoot this issue. If you can find connectivity we know it is a port issue and it becomes an exercise in locating the correct ports to forward.

Check your firewall settings on host and client. Maybe someone knows the required ports to have open. If you use Windows XP or Vista you may want to try disabling the built-in firewall temporarily to see what happens. If there is a router on either network you may want to temporarily attempt changing the DMZ host to point to the IP of the machines you are trying to connect. This will ensure all traffic is going from node A to node B. Also check out the sticky thread on using himachi as virtual private network if you are playing on a university network or other network which may block port accesses.

This was a known issue of running Rebellion under Windows 2000 environment in which the user could not click on the game screen to skip the droid introduction. This condition currently exist when operating the game under WINE in linux or bsd as well. I could theorize why this occurs but I don't have any real answers.
