  1. 1. I do not know but I think the effect is so small that it nearly canot be decided.2. The hyperdrive of the Falcon remains 50 so I did not try such dramatic changes.
  2. Do you have the language 1033 version?
  3. Excuse me, but have you read the topic title? I would like to know how does Rebellion link things (the different data files and dlls) together and I would highly prefer the source code of Rebellion.
  4. No my skills are not up to the task. A cracker would needed not a simple programer.
  5. Swarmer: I dont like it. Not even the moncal cruisers are officially atmosphere capable and the null gravity has construction advantage. Whether would it be an octopus like open (similar to the front of vorlon ships in B5) or a fully enclosed structure (like Stardock in ST or a converted asteroid)?
  6. The normal gamedata files (all *sd.dat except basicsd.dat.) have a common header. It is four DWORD long: -always 1 -the number of things consisted -the "lower" consisted family identifier -the "higher" (not consisted) family identifier The "higher" family identifier is usually is higher by steps of four except that of the facilities which are separated. This does not apply to the *tb.dat files which have completely different structure. Eg: The troop family is 16, so the header of the Troopsd.dat is 1,10,16,20. Next are the capital ships: 1,30,20,28 (Death Star is 24 all others are 20), the fighters: 1,8,28,32, and so on ... However when I tried to add a new sector (data to the sectorsd.dat and name to textstrat.dll) to the game I failed so the number of consisted things (or maybe the file lenghts) must be stored elsewhere too.
  7. OK. I start this topic to publicate any knowledge and thought about how Rebellion works. This topic is only for those who have programing skills.
  8. Good luck to you, Elvis! I have never played Rebellion online and my strategy canot hold against a human opponent.
  9. The clearest hing would be to ask Greg whether if you want GPA to be just as Rebellion which one to vote for ...
  10. ElvisMiggel: There is nothing to react to on that day since all the opponent's orders are only executed when turning to the next day. It does not matter if the opponents needs more time to give orders because they have no result before the next day. It is how Rebelion basicly works.
  11. Sorry I am just tired. Turn based has two subcategory: Conventional (my turn- your turn) and simultaneous (all players give orders at the same time and after that the orders are executed at the same time). Rebellion has a hibrid strategic game (it is based on a simultaneous turn- based game but a hibrid because the planetary bombardments and assaults) and a real time tactical game. And yes it hasn't got an "End turn" button since it is automated. (Personally I would prefer an "End day" button besides this full automatization.) I think conventional turn-based is somewhat outdated for a space strategy, so simultaneous turn-based like basicly Rebellion or real time like Imperium Galactica II? I think turn based (with an end turn button) could cause a faster gameplay (the players can easily run through periods when there is nothing to react to) but with preconfigured speed changes a real time game can nearly do the same and is more ... I dunno ... REAL.
  12. I will agree with that Rebellion is a real-time game when one of my fleets first arrives or one of my characters reports during mid- day. But until then Rebellion is a hibrid. Please do not write again that Rebellion is a real-time game because there is no "end turn" button! Adjusting the game speed you just set the time when that unseen button will be pressed automatically. If I remeber well MAX (Mechanized Assault and eXploration) 2 was switchable, but I have never played with it. Any experience with it?
  13. Well, their statistics are in the xxxfacsd.dat files, their large pictures are in the gokres.dll, system and build pictures in the strategy.dll, names in textstrat.dll, encyclopedia in the encytext.dll,encybmap.dll and some edata files ... What about changng the advanced training facility to cloning facility and allowing it for only the empire and changing the advanced shipyard to mon cal shipyard and allow it only to NR? Of course a slight raise in the costs of imperial troops/spec forces and NR fighters/capital ships would needed ...
  14. As I remember the engines of moncal cruisers and the Gallofree medium transports were blue. The engines of the Executor were red unlike the game texture.
  15. Mask: Theoretically you can switch off models/units by: 1: Setting their construction and maintenance cost to 0. 2: Not allowing any side to build it. In my opinion there is a third way: setting their active flag to 0. However it is unchecked and canot do with Rebed so it does not work for a TC. Besides I think there are some ships that canot be prohibited. Not allowing a ship type the game usually start with is not a recommended idea. (Eg: The imperial dreadnaught should be replaced instead of not allowing it.)
  16. How can inactive members vote? When they vote they will become active won't they?
  17. Virty, have you read the "Planetary energy capacity" topic? BTW, as long as I know we canot edit this. Mask is working on a savegame editor which may be able to do it. The download section contains (I think) the Resource Hacker which is to dig in the dlls.
  18. I don't know what is a "Dark side device", but I think it would be more offensive than deffensive. And it was not just a stored technology like the cloning or the cloaking device. This unknown defence mechanism was mentioned by Pellaeon when Thrawn asked about the energy and defence systems of the residency on Wayland right after the failed attempt to get Leia on Bimissaari in the novel Heir to the Empire.
  19. Gibberish? I am so sad! While I am planning a graphicaly enhanced converter that could convert 24bpp bitmaps to the palette of Rebellion and show the result what you will get in the game and conducting other researches ...
  20. Excuse me, but is it stated somewhere what does the limited Force control mean in case of the darktroopers? Danger sensitivity for faster reaction and telepathy for faster, uninterraptable coordination maybe ... When I get RebEd I planned to use Regular Infantry (garrison and police force "naval" troopers with probots or similar patrol droids), Inquisitor Division (stormtroopers, scout troopers and medium vehicles such as the AT-ST or the Chariot described by Mara) and Heavy Mechanized Division (AT-ATs). I read somewher about the Arakyd Tank droid which was presented to Thrawn, but he did not accept it. I agrre him, since an AT-AT is nearly unstopable. (Espesially with vibroblades on its back legs. ) And the novel wrote that the technicians found some strange defence mechanism on Wayland that they were unable to use that time.
  21. My pc freezes when I dive too deep into the Strategic.dll with Resource Hacker (entry 9001 and above), so I can not find them. Could anyone tell me their locations?
  22. It depends whether how the weapon recharge is computed. /gun, /firing arc or only one weapon recharge pool for the whole ship. In the latter case I would concentrate all firepower (weapon recharge) to the cruiser and neglect the corvett completely (even if I had idle guns facing toward it).
  23. Wrahhahahh! It would be a great game! 8D With the greatest copyright costs ever. Borg Cubes against stardestroyers! 8D
  24. The hyperspace was mentioned due to reinforcement ideas but this topic is not for those so that was why I said we were off topic. Chess also has a clock so does it mean chess is a real time game? Of course not. Time measuring does not mean timeframes. Eg.: Panzer General is a turn based game without doubt. It has no clock but has timeframes. Maybe timeframes is a less than ideal expression see it as phases. However I have found out that I was wrong. Rebellion is not a clear turn based game but a hibrid since things can happen during mid-day: bombardment and planetary assaults.
  25. We are off topic. I think if the fleets will be able to jump to open space not only orbit, this harassing will be automaticaly possible.
