Update: September 3, 2012 | Revision: 917

Fixed issue where loading the NR was causing a crash on boot. Issue was with the Battle Dragon having a line it shouldn't have had. Fixed some other small issues as well.

I have no idea what could be causing such a crash; I've never heard anything along those lines happen ever. That sounds like something related to a failing GPU or other hardware issue, I think. Does it happen regardless of what factions are on, or at a specific point in gameplay?

I had similar crashes lately until I used the Large Address Aware app to allow the .exe to use more RAM.

Honestly the game for me is unplayable without LAA turned on. I couldn't even get past 5min of playing and sometimes it would crash right when starting a game.

Since Thursday I have sunk about 20 hours of game time in and hasn't crashed once with LAA so long as I use Random maps and not the pre-made ones. The pre-made maps all crash.

You make sure that the HDD/partition Rebellion is on has a proper paging file? I was suffering of the same thing, as Impluse and Steam are on different partitions, until I saw the latter's partition lacked a paging file. Enabling one fixed my random crashes. I play without LAA.

Update: September 9, 2012 | Revision: 919

This isn't the big Vong patch I've been planning. What it does is add diplomacy techs based off of the TEC loyalists, and racial relations, credit goes out to zoommooz for getting this done! It also adds in Snowba11's new maps, 1.04's Huge Ring Random, and some balance changes: Executor SDN's hull decreased, shields increased, Viscount's cost and lasers' strength increased, and re-did the shield and hull restore rate for all >8000 shielding and >4150 hull ships, respectfully, to better reflect their stats. If you've ever wondered if it took your supercaps proportionally longer to recharge their shields, you weren't wrong; the values up until now were extremely skewered towards <8001 shielding ships. The Vong are still broken by the way.

Hey there,

Had same issues. Game was unplayable and I was not happy about setting up page files if I did not have to.

However this thread: viewtopic.php?f=620&t=28009

Delivers solutions. They work. Both on mine and a friend of mine´s machine.

Hope it helps.

You really should enabled paging files; this is done by default on your boot partition and there's nothing to "set up" you just check off a box in your systems settings to enable it, there's absolutely nothing wrong with having one. I do not recommend using LAA as that will ensure you can never play online except via Hamachi, due to Steam, the thread you linked to was primarily for Entrenchment which had less restrictions due to it being on Impulse.

Sure there is set up. Page file wants to use RAM size reservations as I got 32 GB RAM that is a lot of space on an SSD for no use whatsoever except one singular game. If I have to set up the page file manually and define its size then by definition I have to set things up, and which in turn then begs how much page file space does this game need?

I do not want page files, and certainly not on other drives where my game resides, if I can avoid it. I have SSD´s and do not want space taken for no need other than a singular game and I imagine there are many others who would prefer not to set up page files on other drives either.

That being said, if that is the only solution then there is no debate on the subject. But the LAA works for me and my friends when we play and play LAN, but then again we do not face online connection out of house so that's about it.

The paging file lets Sins use up a proper 2 GB of RAM, you don't have to set it up manually either; Windows can automatically manage it. Though if Steam isn't giving you trouble, and the game's MP is working fine for you, then I shall cease my rambling as it's irrelevant. I just found personally that Sins was minidumping before it hit 2GB of RAM use, until I enabled the paging file for that partition, at which point Sins was using up to 2 GB as it should.

Update: September 11, 2012 | Revision: 925

Fixed orbital ion cannon mistakenly targeting Supercaps, and welcome back the Vong. The Scout Ship still needs to go through it's capital conversion, and the capital statcounttypes need to be changed up, but otherwise they are pretty much done. The Vong ships will basically be dead after they lose their shields; I have a better system than the current one in mind, but this will do for now. (R921)

Converted Scout Ship, fixed up Vong capital ship statcounttypes. (R922)

Fixed minidump issue caused by Scout Ship, flak burst/fast tracking/blister burst will now one shot all fighters/bombers regardless of tech, as they should. (R925)

Update: September 16, 2012 | Revision: 930

Added envoys to the game. It takes two Lambdas to achieve the effect of a single other envoy, but they cost half as much as other envoys and are absurdly fast. The Consular, Corellian CR90 CVT, and Vong Envoy (special Gunship Analogue) are the other envoys. The Lambda model, originally by EJ, was rigged and had it's skin edited by Goafan. Slave Rigging also now is a general weapon cooldown rather than an energy weapon specific one.
