Noticed something odd with a few of the planets, namely moons, that they have minimum and maximum mine settings ranging from 3-7 and 5-9, respectfully, yet the totalMaxResourceAsteroids is set to a value lower than the minimum, let alone the maximum, or a value higher than the maximum. This doesn't make any sense, so I'm wondering if this was somehow intentional.

ah... #@$% I'll fix that... *sigh* It thought that the planets didn't have enough roids.....

Nah, I'll fix it. I'll just set the totalMaxResourceAsteroids to the actual maximum count per planet. Edit: All the weird Max counts have been fixed and uploaded to the SVN.

Here. Updated planets.

Added pop growth adjustments

Fixed Comet, Asteroid, and AsteroidSpaceJunk (now should have the most metal and crystal of any planet besieds a roid belt)

Fixed roids (There were some that were wrong when compared to my planet chart. You couldn't have got those Lavo. :D)

 

Edit: You may have to fix your special roid Lavo. Not sure if it is too strong now. lol

Fine fine. :P On to a bigger galaxy map! (not the ultra one with 1200 planets. :P)

 

Star Wars Galaxy (240 planets about i think) - This will be the base map for the Clone Wars maps, both Galactic Civil Wars and the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion

Birth of the Republic (the Start of the Ultra Star Wars Galaxy 8) )

 

All other maps will have their own base.

Epic. I'll get to adding the new maps to the SVN eventually. Plus a handy text list of the various custom SoGE Maps, ships which have the "Colonize" ability, and ones which have the "Full Squadron" ability. ;)

 

Edit: Seeing how many resources all the 'roids have, perhaps the Asteriod garrison (aka. DefaultStart_Asteroid) should be upped to Weak or Medium? For what you get out of them, 'roids might actually be a bit OP now, with a VeryWeak garrison that is.

Well... your maps weren't accurate... I'm already making a ton of maps. They will come out slowly. I have high expectations if I am to endorse such undertaking on anyone's part.

 

And I will petition Lavo to keep them out of the main mod. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh. You can make whatever maps you want for anyone. I will not make galaxyforge icons since they are really not worth it. I can make maps just fine with out them. (sorry but I'm not much of an artist and 136 icons would be impossible.)

 

But I want to clear maps for the main mod. Just so that they are accurate.

Will we be able to use the new planets in galaxyforge ? if so I will start making a few maps if thats ok? Or if you need any help on any just pm me.

Can they be used? Sure, just paste over the GalaxyScenDef file. Will they have icons? No. I might possibly make /some/ icons in the distant future, though it would not be for each of the 136 planets that's for sure.

So in which ways are my maps inaccurate? leave me feedback maybe? So with your new planets is it going to be possible to create a huge galaxy map without causing the game to lag too much? 136 planets is going to add too much to the resources? isn't it, no?

Do you mean huge as in 99+ total "planets"? If so, this is possible, my Interconnected Trio map has 99 "planets" and runs smoothly, at least for the first 4-5 hours or so, which is typical of most Sins games.

I will. I think my 240 maps will run just fine. the Mega one never would (1200). lol I shouldn't see a problem since you made a map with sins plus and the planets add about the same amount of ram usage.

 

Though I do highly suggest everyone turn off trade ships and skyboxes. Tradeships just add lag and Skyboxes make the planets look odd. Not to mention being un realistic and star warsy. Just like the planetary bonuses they are meant to keep your attention away from the bland vanilla planets.

 

Oh and I'll be adding about 24 more planet variants by the time i'm done with the map. And no they won't increase ram usage that much. (no new textures)

Asteroid belts are cool! I sent 10 colony ships at one to grab all the goodies as promptly as possible. Plus the space is huge, not all wells should have an object in them. How bout a "deep space" wells thrown in here and there?

Well the problem is with that, while a cool idea, is that it doesn't make sense. Actually, I could have a Hyperspace Tangle object which would be the same thing.... I'm looking for options for more non-colonizable stuff:

 

dead roid

inner roid belt (24 metal)

outer roid belt (current one of 12 metal and 12 crystal)

comet cloud (24 crystal)

magnetic cloud

plasma storm

nebula

Hyperspace Tangle (ty wbino)

 

also going to mess with lavo's roid alittle and add in a roid that has 6 metal and 6 crystal.

 

ATTN Lavo!: I compressed some textures (yay!) was 138MB now 42MB. can you plop them into the mod? This should help everyone.

I'll just add in a 'roid for you to screw around with. It'll be called "PlanetAsteriodCustom". Check the SVN for it! :D I, or you, will add it to entity.manifest and GSD once you're done playing around with it.

Before I add 'em in, am I correct in assuming there was no quality loss in this compression? Edit: Seems like there is a small loss, for some of the files that is. Edit 2: You know none of these have the correct file extension right? They can't be used, or at least, I have no bloody clue how to deal with textures and meshes and thus don't know how to make these work if they can be used.

Also look for new centralized planets from my reworking of the indutrial planets due to the sw galaxxy setup. I'm going to split up the indurstrial planets into a shipyard catagory as well.
