Swiftdraw
*And the Petro perimeter defense pop-up and waste them all* Well the least they can do is add some associated cost with them going bye-bye for a bit. I dunno what would be reasonable though. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
Dorkthehunter
Dumb, very dumb. I mean look at the best selling RTS today, Rome: Total War and guess what all your heroes can die, and die easily. Heck they can die from old age even... We must have hero deaths permament! Who is with me!!! *A legion of stormtroopers bursts into cheers as they charge toward Petroglyph's offices! Hazah! *An army of one comes rushing to Petro's offices* Protecting the world from those who have an IQ higher than 30! Huzzah! Trust me...I'm a professional. Naja
Be reasonable. If we want to convince them to do otherwise (if Petroglyph is truly open to persuasion at this point), let's be serious. Stormtroopers aside. I might get up in arms about useless crap like "is ____ moddable?", and I might have sobbed for a day or two like the rest of everyone when I heard the SSD wasn't in, but this is the only EaW news tidbit that I find completely unacceptable. Our best bet would be some form of petition, or something. I think they're cool dudes like that...if we cause enough intelligent noise, that is. What say you all to that? Swiftdraw
IMHO, I say they already made up their minds and you'll have about much sucess with this as you would trying to get the SSD in. But by all means, please prove me wrong. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png
Naja
Ordinarily, I would agree, Swiftdraw. But Petroglyph is more of a fan's company, or at least I still believe that they are. I want to know what more of everyone thinks, first. I'm considering testing the waters with a poll, to see how many potential signers there -might- be. *shrugs*
Dorkthehunter
I signed the Petition of One and sent it to them! Maybe that will help! I think the Petition of the Two Thousand would work better, but see what happened to it in the movie--look in the deleted scenes of ep.III P.S. I didn't really sign a petition, but i will message Delphi! Protecting the world from those who have an IQ higher than 30! Huzzah! Trust me...I'm a professional. Naja
I dunno...one private message seems sort of audacious. Like "do it for your buddy, pleeeeeease?" A petition is more respectful because it assumes that these are people who know what they are doing, and is takes into account that THIS IS THEIR GAME that THEY HAVE LIBERTY OVER - hense the need for a large body of people to attempt to sway them. Eduardo
I dont think Delphi actually said that they CAN'T die, I think he refered that it will be very dificult to kill them(As in the movies), so dont get him wrong, I dont think Petro could do such mistake School Wars!!! Command your Forces! Crush the School!!!
Naja
No, they can be killed. That's not the point of contention. What it seemed that he implied was that if they die, they can be respawned/resurrected, which is the lame part.

Juggernaut1985
I'm in agreement that they should be able to die, maybe not as easily as other stuff but they should still be able to die. If not I hope we can at least mod it so heroes can stay down for good.
Lytyr
That's sad news... unressurectable heros would have enhanced both realism and required skill... as well as giving us some fun options (remove all your forces from Planet X or I will blow up Planet Y which happens to have Luke Skywalker on it with my DS). Sad. Currently waiting to get Age of Empires 3, Dawn of War, and Star Wars: Empire at War
Delphi-PG
I mean look at the best selling RTS today, Rome: Total War and guess what all your heroes can die By no means do I consider RTW to be one of the greats. I was bored to tears in the first 10 minutes. Also, calvary could not run over infantry like LOTR: BFME. I threw my hands up and quit after that. I'm just saying... For those of you who enjoyed it, hats off. We found it to be more fun to allow heroes to return in EAW, of course there is always a price. Ghostly_Substance
Well then a price? Well then thats good since it would be pure ownage if they just kept respawning and used as a hero army Juggernaut have fun making them dead -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png

Delphi-PG
Finally someone who shares my view of RTW cavalry against games like BFME. If you are going to have calvary in a RTS, they better be as good if not better than the Rohirrim from BFME. Calvary that cannot plow through infantry is just lame. Stellar_Magic
I'm not saying RTW is realistic (Because it is far from realistic, at least until I modded the c*** out of it), I'm saying that right now its nabbed more share of the market in games with one installment then anything else, including all of the C&C games. It's got fans who have never touched any other strategy game. If you guys can create a game that has that much broad spectrum appeal then have at it. Personally I think the best RTS game I've ever played is actually Close Combat III: The Russian Front. Actually no, DOW and AOE3 currently are running the gambit. RTW is more of a niche game appealing to the more hard core strategist. You'll never see it hit C&C, AOE or Craft numbers which are well over 15 million each. Hey I'm not slammin it, I just want to know why my calvary couldn't run over guys. Stellar_Magic
Up against pikemen they shouldn't have been able to... Up a against swordsmen however... What was really bad was just how overpowering the Elephants were in the game. S*** we're hijacking this thread, back on to dead heroes. Here's a question, in EAW will Luke just be like in ANH where he only uses a blaster? Nevets
Hmm I say he does just, because it wouldn't be a star wars game without Luke using a lightsaber. Plus it would be the balance for lightsaber users. Luke, Obiwan, Yoda vs Emperor, Vader, Mara Jade.
