Mad78 Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I got to resee Titan A.E. yesterday. I had seen it a long long time ago (not in a galaxy far far away but at the local cinema) and it was to see it again and i must say I enjoyed just as much as the first time. Its really worth seing if you haven't yet. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Darth_Rob Posted July 27, 2007 Author Posted July 27, 2007 I love Titan A.E. It is a real quality Sci-Fi flick, done beautifully, and a must see for all ages! Edit:I started this thread last October, complaining about how the tickets cost $8.50 at our theater. Well, when we went to see Harry Potter, I was in for a surprise...the price of tickets has gone up to $10.00!!!So between last October and this July (less than a year) there have been three price increases, at 50 cent intervals, to get to the whopping $10.00 that they charge today! It is so ridiculous... Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! My Website http://fp.profiles.us.playstation.com/playstation/psn/pid/BigBadBob113.png

DarthTofu Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Haha. Tickets on my little island cost six bucks. I hope to see the Simpsons Movie today, but I don't know that I will. One of my friends is seeing it with his mom, and I have some crap to do around the house... If I do see it I'll put up a review for the flick and tell you if it's actually smart humor or guy-gets-a-hammer-to-the-eye-and-screams-in-pain humor. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away

DarthTofu Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I finally saw The Simpsons Movie today. It was certainly funny, but too many things that had you falling out of your seat laughing were given away in the previews and such, more a publicity issue than anything else. All in all, it was a "so-stupid-it's-funny" movie, one where I found myself saying "This is stupid, and only so stupid that I find it vaguely amusing." All in all, I'm not sure it deserved a full four stars. I'd give it three stars to three and a half stars. I'm not sure you can really see it again and still find it funny. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
SOCL Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 I thought of The Simpsons Movie as essentially an episode three-times the length as usual. Fun and enjoyable, but not the all-out hilarity I think most people expect. But the audience is warned about this very same thing at the very beginning by Homer himself, so no one is really allowed to complain. Darth_Rob Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 I have so much to say about the Simpsons movie. It was the greatest thing ever. It contains a few spoilers, thus I am making it "invisible". Being the huge fan that I am, I would have killed anyone who leaked information about the plot of the movie to me. The writers and producers did a stupendous job in keeping details under wraps, and I am eternally thankful to them for that. As frustrating as it was, it made tonights viewing that much sweeter. So here, my friends, is my review of the greatest film of the year (and I mean it...move over Spidey): It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the Simpsons. I have been watching the show since the first seasons. I remember the first episode I watched was the one where Homer gets caught dancing with Princess Kashmire, and the photos are released throughout the town. I used to spend sleepovers as a child playing countless rounds of Simpsons Trivia with my friend and his brother. These days, I go out of my way to snag each DVD season on its release date, and then watch the entire season within a 2-day span. I am a huge Simpsons nerd, and am not ashamed of that fact. Hence, I was very, very excited for this movie. I remember when the South Park Movie hit the theatres. That movie made the show the success story it is today, and I always wondered why The Simpsons did not follow suit. It was a dream years in the making, which finally came true tonight. The movie was perfect. The storyline was classic Simpsons. Homer replacing his son with a pig, and placing the town in danger over free donuts was totally classic. I liked that many characters had short spots, like Cletus, Fat Tony, and even Mr. Teeny. The characters were in perfect form. Flanders was great (espicially with the hot cocoa), Mr. Burns was still evil, Ralph was still random ("I like men now"), and most importantly, Homer was...well Homer. The town's reaction to Homer's actions was extremely predictable, which is not a bad thing at all. It was refreshing to see the movie stay so true to the show. The people of Springfield are easily pushed to mob rule, and post-dome Springfield is great. I was really hoping to see Hank Scorpio make some kind of appearance in the film, but Al Brooks still took part as the head of the EPA, so the voice of Scorpio held me over. I laughed aloud the entire movie. The dialouge was great, and the jokes were plenty and funny. One of the best scenes, to me, was towards the end, when Homer and Bart are flying across Springfield Gorge on the motercycle. As they reach the other side, they pass a tree, which has a crushed ambulance in it. This is a connection to the episode in one of the early seasons, where Bart attempts to cross the Gorge on his skateboard. To prove how ridiculous the notion is, Homer attempts it. He misses, and falls down to the bottom. A helicopter later carries him up, and he is placed in an ambulace. The ambulance drives about five feet before it crashes into the tree directly in front of it, causing Homer to comically fall out of the ambulance and fall down the Gorge all over again. I do have but one complaint. However, it is not against the movie itself, but rather the marketing. I feel that the commercials gave away some really, really great scenes, in particular, when Homer does "Spider-Pig" with his pig. It was funny the first 10 times I saw it on commercials, but it got old. When I saw the move tonight, while the whole theatre errupted into laughter, I could barely bare a smile. Don't get me wrong, it was funny as hell. But it was played out WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY too much. Then the genious behind me says "HAHAHA! JUST LIKE THE COMMERCIAL!!!!!", and Im like "well I think anyone who has a TV could have told you that one." Otherwise, the movie was super great, any Simpson's fans wet dream. DarthTofu Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 (edited) I saw Rush Hour III the other day, and I must say, I liked it. The plot is blessedly coherent (Something the makers of Spiderman III and Pirates III were incapable of doing) and moves linearly, if a bit quick. The humor generally falls into the "What... the... ****" category, but despite your disgust, you still find that you're laughing at such blatant stupidity and odd behavior. I'd give it four to four and one half stars out of five for being a good action/comedy film. Those who remember Abbott and Costello will likely find that they really like the flick, as there's a pretty good reference back to one of their most famous sketches in the movie. Edit: Oh, jeeze! Mad, tell me if this is as bad that Zombies vs. Ninjas flick you rented when it comes out. Just the title automatically has me thinking "MST3K." Well, that and, "I wonder if those lesbian vampires will be hot enough to make this worth the six bucks of admission?" Darth_Rob Posted August 12, 2007 Author Posted August 12, 2007 I liked the other two Rush Hours. Those two make a good comedy team together. I want to see the 3rd one soon. DarthTofu Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Two things have convinced me that it might not actually be so bad- 1) I noticed that the genre includes comedy. I was afraid it was meant to be a serious horror flick! 2) These are the lesbian vampires! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2602276/ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1617640/ Hoo hai! I think it'll be worth six bucks even if it isn't funny or scary! 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Darth_Rob Posted August 12, 2007 Author Posted August 12, 2007 If you guys want a movie with lesbian vampires, then Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter is the film for you. My friend obtained it a few years ago, and it was worth the laugh. The basic plot is that Jesus returns to Earth, and with the help of a pro wrestler, trains in order to fight a clan of lesbian vampires. Krytos Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I didn't even know they were making a Rush Hour 3 ... in fact, were it not for this thread I probably would have never of found out. Defender_16 Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Went and saw the Bourne Ultimatum for the second time. Wont go again because it's too expensive. Really good movie. It's one of the few I've given a 4 star rating since LOTR.
Mad78 Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I enjoyed the two previous Bourne films so i guess I'll go and see it or hire it when it comes out. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Darth_Rob Posted August 15, 2007 Author Posted August 15, 2007 I never saw the Bourne Identity, thus I have no desire to see this third installment. I thought I saw the first one and hated it, but when I was talking about it with a friend recently, he informed me that I was describing the horrible plot from Minority Report. When the Bourne Supremacy came out, I said "what the heck?! They made a sequel to this junk?!". And now a third one. Perhaps I shall rent the first one someday and see what all the hubub is about. Mad78 Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I actually quite enjoy Minority Report. Not the best scifi i ever saw but not bad. I saw Soylent Green yesterday. Defender_16 Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Yes Rob, it seems you may have some of the movies confused... Minority Report was indeed 'kinda shitty' by my estimation but I don't especially care for Tom Cruise. ( = unfair Bias) I have analysed all 3 Bourne movies as I watched them and come to the conlusion that none of the stunts he pulls off are technically impossible. A lot of the time though it would have resulted in quite a bit more injury. No point getting Matt Damon for a movie though if youre just going to cover his face over in a mask of blood.
