WARNING: IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN SPIDER-MAN 3 YOU MAY NOT WANT TO READ!!

I finally saw Spider-man 3 last night. I disagree with the critics and say it was actually kinda good. Maybe not as good as it could have been, as Venom could have been totally more kick ass, but still an all around decent movie. And I'll have to agree with Rob about the entrance of the symbiote.. rather weak.. and just in case noone knew... a meteor that large hitting the ground.. wouldnt have gone.. pssssttt.. when it hit.. it would have went BOOOOOM!.. so.. already I was a bit mad.. that and other obvious "complete suspensions" of any kind of logic, physics or reality kinda made me a bit.. mm.. annoyed.. such as the "crane incident". But all in all... a decent movie to add to the story.. I'm just afraid that if they make a fourth.. it will totally blow.

You should make it a Bartman JH. That would rock!

Also, glad you enjoyed the film. Though I dunno about a 4th film. Its listed on imdb for a 2009 release, but I watched a bunch of interviews with the actors as they were promoting the release of the 3rd film, and they were kinda hating on it. I think the idea was that they felt they are destined for better things than Spidey, and were getting sick of it. I think it was Kirsten Dunst that said something along the lines of "Spiderman 3? Come on now." Stupid actors.

1) Destined for better things?.. I kinda get offended by that attitude actors get... you know? I mean.. crap.. you got paid how much for doing this? and you're going to hate on it?.. people adore you for acting in this role... and you're going to complain?... I can understand getting sick of doing the same series.. and maybe being upset because you dont have time to act in other projects... but you dont HAVE to take the job... and they are only a few months long.. you can do more than a couple movies a year.. and hell.. give props to what rocketed you into stardom..

2) Rob.. didnt you mean "Spiderman 4? Come on now.":wink:

No, she was bitching about making Spiderman 3. I guess she didnt think it would get his big. Which is why Im scared for Spidey 4 cause I dont know if MacGuire (sp) or Dunst will be in it because of the way they feel about the 3rd one. At least the actor playing Harry Potter isnt bitching about making 7 movies. Like, these actors play important parts, and then they feel like their destined for better things because they played the part of a famous character. Well, Im sorry, but ITS YOUR JOB TO PLAY PARTS!!!!! Thats whay an actor does. And now they get these huge egos because of the success of one part. Nuts to them.

Not just that, but if there's a horrible script, I don't blame them. Certainly something as iconic and classic as Star Wars, any Star Wars, it doesn't matter, everyone will play in it if offered. But I don't blame them if they decide not to come back in case the fourth film's script turns out to be rubbish. It's especially going to take a lot to give the franchise momentum again. The second and third films were simply the inevitable conclusions of the first film, but a fourth film will have to essentially start a new plot-line. Certainly, there is the Peter Parker's professor missing his arm (I'm thinking The Lizard) and we have the chance to see Carnage, but... Are they interested in doing? There's only so much drama you can get out of those particular villains. Carnage has potential, but the professor/The Lizard? We have near-nil background to him and Peter Parker's friendship, so where's the drama going to come from?

Prof. Connor has appeared in all 3 films so far. The conversations they have imply a friendship that goes beyond teacher/student.The Lizard would be a welcome villian to a potential part 4, as would Carnage. A fourth film could revolve around SpiderMan/Parker having to stop his mentor from being an uncontrollable beast, facing off with Venom, and then teaming up with Venom to combat Carnage. That would make for a fine film.

Seeing how they deviate from the comics to move the films plot along, I could see Venom crashing Peter and MJs wedding just for the hell of it. That would make for one good movie, me thinks.

So those are my hopes and dreams for a Spidey4. And I wouldnt expect a Spidey5. But I do expect a 4th film, to give Venom some more screentime, and to show the marriage of Peter and MJ. This would enable the film to make a transition for new actors to replace actors who want to move on, like in the Batman films (though hopefully they wouldn't get as corny).

But Rob, you need more villians (you can never have too many villians  ). Somehow then need to shoe-horn in The Rhino and The Vulture (two classic villians from way back in the day  ) Too bad Kingpin and Doc Doom have already been "used" by previous superhero flicks :? Oh, and I forgot about Mysterio :P

Well the Lizard was a relativly early villian too. Vulture was a lame villain though. Just some old guy with feathers. But Mysterio...you're on to something there, Tex. I would love to see Mysterio. He was a truely great villian. But the way I see it is that they should make one last one with this cast, so you'll have MacGuire, Dunst, Grace, and Connors to do their roles. End the movie with Peter and MJ getting married, and then they can make a whole new series with new actors to represent Peter a few years later, where he and MJ have been married for awhile. This will also allow for all sorts of neat villains. Like I said earlier, sort of like the Batman series. Have different actors portray Spiderman to keep the series going for the fans without pissing off actors.

Ahhhh ok, I misunderstood.. sorry bout that..

As to Spidey.. I read somewhere... cant exactly remember where now.. (was it through a link you provided Rob??? i have horrible memory sometimes) anyways.. i read somewhere that they are thinking 6!! yes... 6!! spidey movies.. and that they arent sure if Raimi is going to keep up.. I would think the rest of the cast should.. I mean.. look at the Rocky series.. Stallone was DYING for the last installment.. whether just for a paycheck or not.. doesnt matter... they should be dying for another Spidey.. cuz thats gonna be them someday.. an old wrinkly unemployed actor who is remember only for things they did 20 years ago...

Ok.. i found it

On April 20, 2007, director Sam Raimi confirmed that the franchise would continue into 4th, 5th and 6th installments, though he did not know if he would be directing them. Sony Pictures chief executive Michael Lynton later said that "Everybody has every intention of making a fourth, a fifth and a sixth and on and on."

Rob, you keep talking about Topher Grace returning for a fourth film, but his character is dead. I wanted to believe his character wasn't, but I think everyone saw that pumpkin-bomb-grenade-thing turn Brock into a skeleton. I think that there is a lot of potential for Carnage since part of the symbiote is in that lab with Professor Connor. With some good writing, the Lizard and then Carnage would be pretty cool.

you can never have too many villians  )

I heard that the plot of the fourth one revolved around the bit of symbiode left behind- most likely Carnage.

Now wait just a cotton-pickin' minute. I saw no bodily remains of Brock. And my motto is "if there is no body, the person isn't dead." All I saw were the few strings of the symbiote chilling after the explosion. This is highly explainable, as fire (from the explosion) is the symbiotes only other great weakness, after sound. The explosion would have caused parts of the symbiote to rip off in pain.

Also, Venom is Spiderman's most famous enemy. Not only did Venom receive little attention in the film, but he wasn't even "named". He never called himself Venom, Spidey never called him that, no one mentioned his name. Venom will be back in part 4. 'Nuff said.

It's also possible that Brock is dead and they'll jump to Mac Gargan (who is the curren hose for the symbiot), though that would rule out the Scorpion appearing as a villain.

It's likely that they ended the Venom story line as they did to allow future directors breathing space on the subject. Because Sam Raimi will not be directing any possible future sequals, he's given his successor the option to assume Venom is dead and move on or to bring him back in the next film, or any film following. Rather nice of him I say.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

They could still have the Scorpion be some villan he beats in the firt fifteen minutes of the movie and then move on to bringing Venom back.

(Still preferred the way they did it in the 90's TV series.)

Hey it's GAT! How's it going?

That is always true. They could throw a "guest villian" who appears for like just one battle scene. Have someone like Scorpion, Rhino, or Electro rob a bank or something, and Spidey stops him and he gets arrested. Done and done. It would make for a good opening to the movies.

Hey GAT! Long time no ... type? Whatever; it's good to see you around again

With all of the CGI special effects, almost any of Spidey's villians would be "neat to see". It's whether or not the plot/script will be good :?

Ok.. I'm not putting any more spoiler warnings.. cuz if you havent seen it.. and youve been reading this thread... everyone else has already blown the lid...

I think Venom didn't die.. in my opinion.. but I wouldn't be surprised if in fact in the next film it is stated he did... being that he was only added due to pressures from the studio... it's not like Raimi wanted him in there anyway... so.. might as well kill him off when you get the chance.. plus.. every other villain has died at the end of the movie (Green Goblin, Doc Oc).. so it would be safe to say that Venom is dead too... maybe.. and the next film is going to be Vulture and Carnage or Vulture and Lizard.. I mean.. they almost signed Ben Kingsley as Vulture.. so.. I think they would revisit that.. but thats me..

But of all the Spidey villains, Vulture is one of the lamest. As I stated earlier, he's just an old man with feathers who can fly. Big freakin' deal. Im am sooo down with Lizard, just because they have been flaunting him since the first movie. Now, Lizard and Carnage would be nice, though not as nice as Lizard and Venom.
