Mine would have to be Hannibal Lecter. He's the scariest to me because he's a more realistic monster. He's just dag nasty evil.

I can't decide which to choose, John Doe, Jigsaw, or Hannibal Lector. All of them were just cool killers. Smooth, Intelligent, and good, of twisted, reasons behind their killing.

Personally, I would rather see those three go at it in a three way death match.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

Freddy scared the crap out of me.. as did IT when i was younger... but i think that the best of the best in order to be my favorite horror movie icon would have to be Patrick Bateman. From American Psycho.. in my opinion.... Im sure Tex is gonna chime in now with something about "the original psycho"... haha..

pinhead though..... damn...

Yeah, when I was a kid, Freddy was the scariest. I remember the first time I saw Nightmare on Elmstreet. I had trouble sleeping that night.

Another favorite horror icon I had when I was a kid was Dracula. I never really found him to be scary, but I remember thinking he was cool.

I always thought that a hord of zombies, slow and unstoppable, shambling toward you as you can do nothing to get away was the scariest.

But if I had to choose a specific guy, it would be Hannibal.

He was real. I once looked up his FBI files, the movies are fairly close to what really happened.

Disregarding all new evidence everywhere.

(like in that movie.. jacobs ladder.. like no white in the eyes).. omg.. i was so freaked.. lol.. i had to keep going back to the fridge for "something" just so i didnt have to see her...

Bateman is indeed a scary personality, have you read the book? I personally believe that he is more creepy there. The thing with the girl and that rat???? :( That just gives me the chills.

But I would also have to say Dr. Lector 8) The way Hopkins plays that character is so creepy... I mean, I like people better when they are blinking more often (and when they are sane) :(

Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader??? Haven't heard of that one... library here I come.... :D

@JediHunter: I am not sure wether I should advise anyone to read this book... Some of the things that happens in that book are just so nasty.

But on the other hand it is one of those "must reads" of the 90's and the way it is being told by Bret Easton-Ellis (from Bateman's point of view) is very realistic.

Survivor was pretty good... as was Choke.. I would say check out those two and pick the one that sounds best to you.

I'll try one of those then. I have actually just finished the book I was curently reading, by Hemmingway, so I'll check that out... 8)

I take the train a lot so it is nice to have something to do while you are wasting your time transporting your corpus from A to B.

I have to agree with you on that. Zombie flicks tend to be only ones who can scare me these days.

My personal favourite horror movie character was Quinten from "The Cube". I obviously don't watch many horror movies.

After watching that movie, though... Well, let's just say I was slightly terrified of anyone I met who was an African American cop holding a boot. He scared the crap out of me...

Oh, good question.

At first, I was going to jump up and call out Freddy - just for old time's sake.

But, then reading down the list, and seeing John Doe from Seven got me thinking . . . which one.

Freddy truly scared me as a kid, but JD was sooooo cool in Seven. Hell, Seven is one of my favourite movies still.

So, I'll cast my vote at the diabolical and evil John Doe - putting his point through with murder.

(Jig Saw comes in close after that, but I always found that with Saw he was cool, but with Saw 2 and the upcoming Saw 3 he's become less riveting)

Another great horror icon would be the great white shark from Jaws. The original Jaws film rules, the sequels are forgettable.
